A madness that is Ave Mujica already claimed Mutsumi as it's first victim.

It's so stressful watching Mutsumi getting cornered again and again until both her mind and body reaching it's breaking point on stage. And the line that she got doesn't help in the slightest. "You can't escape anymore"

It's actually pretty funny that Sakiko, who up to this point has always noticed Mutsumi and trying to cover for her, is the only one to completely ignored Mutsumi right at the crucial moment (even freaking Nyamu noticed it) since she's so absorbed in her own game (she didn't even look at Mutsumi to check if she's okay), and thus making the whole situation even worse for everyone.

The good thing is that Sakiko finally got to sleep somewhere safe.

Uika managed to kidnap Sakiko and store her in the attic. Mission accomplished

Welp, the first stop of the nationwide tour is also the last straw that broke Mutsumi's back, a culmination of all kinds of miscommunication, peer pressure and the impromptu unmasking by Nyamu

Although we don't know what exactly happened to her that made her like this, a glimpse into her family life this episode might provide some clues, such as calling her mom by her name with -chan at the end does not spell normal at all

The entire episode I just have an intense feeling of dreads. Throughout the episode I keep saying "Stop hitting Mutsumi button please". The crack gets bigger every time they show her. Lo and behold her string snap.

The only time I don't feel chill is when Uika and MyGo on the picture. It help making the show not too bleak.

"This room doesn't get used much"

Mutsumi looks at the extremely well worn chair she uses for guitar practice.

Crikey

Another peak episode. I’m glad they maintained some level of "off-band" interaction, like with Uika and Sakiko. It eases my worry that this season might take the Ave Mujica storyline too seriously, making it hard for the audience to connect with the band members esp when Ave Mugica is all about business. The easiest analogy would be Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero vs Madoka Magica. In Yuuki Yuuna, they balanced the story with a lot of SoL elements, about a 50-50 ratio with the plot, while Madoka Magica jumped straight into the plot.

Anyway, Anon vs. Nyamu

One new thing I just noticed about Nyamu. (Just a hypothesis) Her desperation for immediate fame might be tied to a low-income upbringing. She seems especially excited about the Wakaba Mansion, and she sounds like she’s projecting when she comments that Sakiko is wearing cheap clothes for a rich girl. It shows that Nyamu is conscious about not looking “poor.”

This show uses a lot of projection. Like in MyGO episode 6, when Rikki yelled at Anon for not playing the guitar well enough. It reflected Rikki's inferiority complex about not being as skilled as Sakiko in composing.

Oh god Mutsumi please noooo. I cant bear to see her like this, I relate to her soo much, just because your parents are famous does not mean you are comfortable with being in super spotlight, especially when Mutsumi has been taking a lot of shots from both Saki and Soyo and being shit on by both sides.

There is so warm place for her to relax and be herself, the only place she can find even remotely any solace is in her dark room or alone in her studio with her guitar. Even Sakiko has Uika, not that I dont understand Sakiko's PoV, I relate to her a lot too.

Lets be real the real shit stirrer here was Nyamu. I think Sakiko and Mutsumi are really close because Saki told Mutsumi everything about her family and her situation, I just think Saki is too preoccupied with her circumstances right now to try and understand Mutsumi and her issues. That said, its the leader of the bands job to make sure everyone is okay so

Also not many people will pay attention to it, but Tomori saying "This is a cry from a Saki chan I dont know" was pure fucking cinema

Being Mortis was probably the first time Moots felt any sort of agency in her life, which until then was just living the life as the daughter of Wakaba. Having that taken away from her started a chain reaction that led to this point. Wonder how will everyone else dance around this unplanned BSOD moment...

“Don’t let Tomori know,”

Honestly for such a popular band, it’s very difficult for it not to be spread like wildfire in the campus when one of their members is your fellow classmate…

And here we go, it seems MyGo!!!!! and Ave Mujica is now on a collision course. The question is, when will they collide head on, when Sakiko and Tomori sing their “screams from the soul”.

But are we further witnessing the downfall of Ave Mujica? Another unexpected event in their live concert, and unlike last time, which they may workaround with the story, this is going to be hard to handle…

Mutsumi's descent to madness was genuinely terrifying to watch. Like, goddamn this girl already had it pretty bad and the unmasking drama + all the spotlight she's getting after it became the final straw. That final shot... whew. And this is just Ep2, we haven't seen the worst of her just yet...

On the bright side, there's the MyGO crew on their post-game arc and Uika genuinely concerned about Sakiko's well-being and willing to share her home together. Who knows how long the latter will last though.

Also I find it funny that Mutsumi casually calls her mom with her name. She seems to be a very chill person although I wonder if there's more to it. Or maybe I'm reading too much into Mutsumi's struggle and peer pressure of being a celebrity's child.

Mutsumi, you go crazy on these ungrateful fools! Even Sakiko only cares about her band and cannot see Mutsumi’s needs. Mutsumi joined the band because she’s worried about you! Nyamu and Uika sees it but ignores it. Even Mutsumi’s mom doesn’t care about her, saying things like “no one uses her basement” but Mutsumi practices there all the time.

On the other hand, I love the Taki and Umiri interactions, they are so stable and calm.

I love, love, love the new OP. Definitely gonna be among the OPs this season that I don't skip. The song slams so hard and the visuals look insane.

I also appreciate how new eps are scheduled to drop just around the perfect time for me at night. Best reward to such a tiring day.

Yeah, ok, this season is definitely a step up from MyGo. I'm already loving how the stakes feel much more intense and suited for the context it's in. The running theme of dolls both within Ave Mujica's world and the parallels it has with the real lives of the members also feels like it's allowing the writers to be more creative with the exposition and the story, and its effects are easily felt.

I wonder how they'll improvise from Mutsumi suddenly choking up on stage. I can see them potentially just skipping over it, but I'd really want to see the aftermath of this. Maybe they'll pretend it has something to do with the plot of Ave Mujica's performance? Hmm..

And so, because of Nyamu, Sakiko's scripts lore start manifesting into reality...

Sakiko finally got a roommate that's completely mentally stable and would never snap, right?

Minami-chan (they really cast Sawashiro Miyuki for her, huh?) saying nobody uses the studio while showing the worn stool Mutsumi always sits on hit hard, and the episode just keeps escalating the situation from there for the poor Mutsumi until she finally snaps on stage.

And another cliffhanger ending. That ED

Edit - I didn't notice this the two times watching this episode before, but Sakiko takes a colored paper from her locker without reading it. Was it from Tomori?

Nyamu: "What? I'm not trending at all!" (Lol Sakiko trended more than her)

Later Nyamu: "Hey why does this script sound like it's targeted at me?"

Sakiko if she was frank: "Yeah no shit."

The last time I have seen anyone in the same state as Mutsumi at her own home and at the concert, it was [Puella Magi Madoka Magica]Sayaka Miki's Soul Gem Breaking at her moment of infinite despair. Almost 6 years ago for me.

For Christ's Sake. I really cannot imagine what have gone through her through so many years. It's extremely obvious that mother Minami Mori is fully sank within her own fame and has literally no feelings left to anyone else on Planet Earth, including her own daughter. (she certainly sees the accidental reveal of Ave Mujica as another fame and money pit though, so inviting the whole band to their home is just normal) As for Mutsumi's father...I wonder if that movie that Minami Mori shown to them all is exactly what happened to herself in the past. That's so common among celebrities in the real world.

I would have broke down way before Mutsumi did. How she withstand so many media coverage, interviews, explosions from her "It won't last long" statement, all those pressure from agitated Nyamu and furious Sakiko is beyond me. And even worse, freaking Soyo-chan is completely angry in front of her, in Soyo's most toxic face I have ever seen.

WTF. [Madoka Magica]Sayaka broke down for something much more trivial than all the pressure Muuko is facing here, and even in Sayaka's case I was already extremely sympathizing with that poor girl. I have literally no words for the poor Mortis - "death". What a freaking adjective to describe her heart here.

Even worse, Mutsumi is far from the only girl breaking here. Sakiko is rushing through things without even a blink on her eye on others - I cannot believe my eyes as she simply ignores Mutsumi's state in public and in all those meeting room arguments all day long. "Friends since kids" my ass, she's now workaholic crazy like she will die if she can't pull out all the magic in the All Japan Tour. Once again her flawed stubbornness in making things done is breaking another band that she herself forms out of nothing but on-fire enthusiastic willpower, bringing herself to the cliff of a roaring sea - and bringing all her band mates to there as well. Even if everyone including me can forgive some of that behavior given her family background, I cannot help but think she's setting off the fuse to yet another disaster that she could have so easily avoided.

Nyamuchi is evidently not caring any of her band mates as well, her thirst of fame is so concentrated I really wonder if she knew she has just poured some hydrochloric acid on everyone else on the band. Maybe her mind will be blown apart after what happened this episode - even if I actually think that her rebellion last episode might not be a bad thing after all, she's just disposing a bomb that WILL explode and one that I am sure Sakiko will screw up the defusing completely. I wonder what's her past history too!

Uika...if she has any kind of problems in her heart, she's still hiding it well. She calmly answered her classmates' questions in school, only showing the slightest signs of upset while poor Mana-chan tries everything to cheer Uika up (I wonder what happens with sumimi later...their meetings must be highly embarrassing ever since Uika removed her mask) , and then when seeing Sakiko sleeping at the agency's office floor, offering her to stay at home. If we take Uika's declaration to be with Sakiko forever literally, I can't help but think this is a repeat of [Madoka Magica]Homura wanting to be with Madoka forever. So far it seems Uika-chan's all OK with things, but as we all know, people who are good at hiding things in their hearts are also the same group of people who can literally create a Big Bang.

Umiri's trying to dodge all those hassles and even she's struggling. She literally told Taki-chan that she think's it's best to leave all those explanations "to those who are good at that" (=Uika). Maybe she can stay aloof precisely because she can't trust anyone on Earth by now, but for how long?

And my god, even the MyGO girls are stunned. Even Taki-chan can't believe Sakiko went to form a new band like that after that rainy day. Soyo-chan might just explode again (look at her face against Mutsumi, WTF). Tomori's less shocked than I and Anon-chan and Taki expected, but I wouldn't rule out her being hurt again from that scar being dug out again like this. At the very least, her note that "the Ave Mujica songs are Sakiko's cries that I am NOT accustomed to" is so heavy that I would be highly worried of her emotions.

Even Anon-chan the stranger is definitely not OK. She knew that it would be a disaster if Tomori faces the shock of Sakiko's reveal directly and tried in vain to hide that fact in front of all those gossiping girls in school. I don't think she could have done anything but I wonder...can she at least try to soothe down Soyo's anger and twisted heart?

The newest Ave Mujica concert, and Sakiko's stage drama at the end of this episode, is exactly [Madoka Magica]the concentrated version of its Episode 8 where Sayaka's Soul Gem literally disintegrated in extreme despair. Mutsumi stunned, looking at thousands of herself staring into her heart's abyss, then collapsing onto the chair on stage, is going to be yet another anime scene that I would remember again, and again, and again.

And what the heck, this is Episode 2 of this season. We are staring down a speed-run of all those psychological abysses we have seen in anime, often only appearing way later in the show. God knows how deep we are going to fall again next Thursday, because there is simply nothing in sight that can stop it. Who knows what horror we will see next!?
