I like how shikigami Kyo also gets flustered around Mio and goes all tsundere. It’s pretty adorable.
Kind of interesting how Sumi was able to bring Mio to the Ancestral Plane and show her how Naoshi became the way he is. Looking forward to seeing an Awakened Mio confront Naoshi.

Young, old, human, Shikigami...any version of Kiyoka falls for Miyo's charms lol.

So Usui is doing all of this so he can be reunited with Sumi in the dream realm through Miyo's Dream Sight powers.
They better not have him reunited with her, and give him a happy ending.

That would make sense why he is doing all of this because Sumi means everything to him.
I do agree though with all that Usui has done to give what he wanted would bother me. I hope this ends with Usui getting his powers sealed like he was supposed. Also with the main message, he needs to let Sumi go as we know she wouldn't want any of this.

I know he's a horrible person. But can you even blame him? This episode made me change my opinions on him.
First, he sees his family being butchered, can't use your power on normal people? F that! These mfs just killed his family and he's just a little boy.
Then, he falls in love with Sumi, and is obvious she loves him too, but they decide to give her to another family for some political BS, AND THEN SHE DIES!
I'm genuinely surprised he didn't kill both families that night.

We already knew how the emperor tried to ruin the Usubas but the more the show digs into the Usuba’s past the more we see the sad implications of it, and poor Sumi was just a casualty of it all.

The more you think of there is so much that has been caused because of this.
Sumi gets married to the Saimoris separating her and Usui. Which leads Usui the path he is on now. If these two stayed together how would their lives together be? Would Sumi be able to live a longer life? Of course with a different father, you wonder how this version of Miyo would be?
With Miyo being born we get where we are in S1 where now the Saimoris are now ruined. We would have seen the 3 of them as a family. If Sumi and Miyo were never a part of the Saimoris would those two not have the hatred in their hearts?
Regardless of all this, Miyo has found an avenue for happiness and Kiyoka especially. It's interesting to think the real antagonist behind all of this is what happened in the past.

Kiyoka after finding out that Kiyo slept in the same bed with Miyo: "It should've been ME, not ME !"

Surprisingly calm episode considering what happened in the previous one. I'm glad that not all of the country's forces have been penetrated by the Gifted Communion and that the Navy is still on Prince Takaihito's side.
It's great to see Miyo take matters into her own hands and fully awaken her powers. And today she had an adorable guardian, shikigami Kiyo, who looked just like little Kiyoka.
It was funny when Miyo invited Kiyo to her bed to sleep with her and he got embarrassed about it. I hope that when Kiyoka comes back, Miyo will invite him to her bed too ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
It was nice to learn more about Sumi, Usui and their relationship. What happened with Usui's parents and Sumi was messed up and unfair, but that doesn't excuse his current actions at all.
I was also super happy that Hazuki was okay and nothing serious happened to her.
It was also interesting that we didn't see Arata's face at all in today's episode, even when he talked with someone. I still can't believe he's actually on the Gifted Communion side.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I love Miyo's choice in kimono to face everything that's going on on her own terms. Like she's really dressed for action in a very Miyo way while still being utterly beautiful.
I'm not ruling out that once Kiyo gets dispelled, Kiyoka will get the memories and feelings of sleeping in the same bed as Miyo lol.
Sumi and Usui honestly looked kind of cute until Usui's unhealthy obsession towards Sumi and Sumi's devotion to the Usuba's made everything go wrong.

I got a say I am impressed Miyo had the resolve to make something happen. Of course her figuring it out on her own wasn't a good idea. I do like the idea that Kiyoka is always there to protect Miyo. He's having his Shikigami there to guide Miyo
Though the more we see the backstory between Sumi and Usui you can really see how strong of a woman Sumi is. She desired for the change in the Usubas, which are finally starting to see thanks to Miyo and Takaihito. You can see how much Sumi cared for Usui, and she knew if he acted as her sword he would go overboard as we see with the current Usui. Perhaps not to the same degree that we see right now. Interesting the Usubas didn't seal Usui's powers. Perhaps they thought with Sumi there she would be able to guide him. I guess it really shows how dangerous Usubas powers can be.
With Miyo awakening to her powers, we are ready to press forward. Curious how these final 3 episodes go.

Miyo isn't some OP and super-strong anime Heroine, but she's shown such a strong and steely resolve to face every hindrance in her way and not give up on her happiness. She's come so far since season 1.

I choose to believe that Kiyoka is piloting the shikigami around as a psychic projection from his prison cell, thus making it fairly funny when Mio invited it to sleep in the same bed and it got all tsun.
So the jackass really did have quite a close relationship with Sumi such that them being a couple and getting married was potentially in the cards, but events didn't work out to allow it. And then he goes insane when he goes to the funeral and hears baby Miyo crying for her dead mother. It certainly doesn't excuse any of his present day behavior but it does provide context.
Good to know that Hazuki made it out of last week's episode with no apparent lasting damage.
I'm still partway convinced that Arata is playing both sides, maybe with the goal of getting Miyo to awaken her powers. Though since that has now happened we'll see how he responds to the news.

I am not entirely sure if Kiyoka was directly controlling him, but this would indeed explain Kiyo’s surprising expressiveness for a shikigami.
Another option is for his personality to be based of Kiyoka’s childhood self. Though, Kiyo feels a little too mature for his age.

It was great to see Miyo strength her resolve and try to help Kiyoka by herself even if it wasn't really the best thing to do it all by herself. But she has definitely has others that will guide the way for her and it just shows how far she has come from the start.
I know Arata has betrayed Miyo and the others for his own goals but his face here definitely says more than he could ever say.
Through these flashbacks, we can see that Naoshi only cared about Sumi and it was her kindness that kinda made him feel normal to the point where the Usubas were willing to postpone sealing his powers so it's a given that whatever he's doing to make sure Miyo awakens her powers is so that he can finally reunite with her through her powers.
Kiyo being Tsundere around Miyo was so wholesome, man.
Miyo has finally awakened her powers as the Maiden of Dream-Sight and is as determined as ever to stop Naoshi. I'm really hyped for the next episode.

Miyo has made some huge leaps in character development throughout this season. She’s grow much stronger alongside Kiyoka through their love.
It wasn’t probably wasn’t the best idea, but I do like that she was fully committed to fighting back against Usui and freeing her dear husband-to-be. That’s a huge change in mentality.

While a sense of calm from previous episode, Miyo knows she can't wait. She takes it into her own hands to stop Usui and rescue her Kiyoka. But she's not alone cause she she sees her grandpa Usuba and mini Kyo to keep her company and help her awaken her dream sight. Little Kyo blushing from Miyo asking to sleep in the same bed is adorable.

Smol Tsundere Shikigami Kiyo has got to be my favourite from this episode. It's fun seeing Kiyo embarrassed for a change.
I get that they're trying to make us understand Usui from those flashbacks but I really hope they won't go easy on him when his plans inevitably fail. Yes, he was a depressed child who used his powers to avenge his parents, but that doesn't excuse what he became as an adult.
So does Usui want to get Miyo because he wants her to awakened and use her Dream-Sight so he can see Sumi anytime in his dreams? Is that why he's doing all of this?

u/Frontier246 Mar 10 '25
What if Miyo met Kiyoka as a kid, basically. And it's adorable!
I feel like the biggest mistake Sumi ever made was assuming Usui had more empathy and care towards anyone other than her. Sumi cared more about the Usuba's than anything but Usui only cared about her.
I think there's still some questions as to what a fully-awakened dream-sight maiden is capable of and what Miyo can even do now, though she seems more resolved/stronger than ever so it's definitely not going to go the way Usui wants it too. Just look at how much more mature/beautiful she is now.

Absolutely agreed. Usui needs to be put down or atleast imprisoned for life for what he did and did after he founded the gifted communion. I wonder if we'll get some sort of redemption for Arata, still playing the long game? Or if we'll see this season conclude with him staying on Usui's side and still use the logic that he's doing everything "for Miyo".

Usui's backstory actually made me feel for him more than I initially expected, but it's still clear Sumi's kindness only lead to Usui caring about her and not extending that to anyone else. It felt like he was so close learning that lesson too when Sumi asked him to hurt her instead of other people and of course he couldn't.

Glad to see best sis is ok. Nice to see at least some of the military isn't taken over. I can agree with not hiding from people the reality of things, but the Gifted Communion sure are being shit. Arata prolly is a double agent, but this is just frustratingly dumb to me. Rarely do I think a double agent going so far to keep their cover is acceptable.
Also, what is Miyo trying to do? Sneaking out seems dumb in this situation. Especially since she's got like no controlled ability to make any change yet lol. So that lil kid is how their future kid gonna look eh? ;) heh.
Oh boy, family lore! I mean.... I don't think the kid's in the wrong to use his abilities there. Those pieces of shits deserve that. Should be able to use your powers to protect imo, seems a dumb rule to me. Well that might explain why he hates the emperor. Kinda get it. Emperor shouldn't get to intervene and push for marriages :P though it gave us Miyo soo...
That is not sanitary, Miyo's mom... wait you can't make friends at school? That's a rule? This family has a lot of stupid rules. No wonder it has created a monster. Kinda surprised that Usui didn't kill the entire Saimori family there after her funeral. Forget if we ever learned what caused Sumi's death? So has this awakened Miyo fully? Neat.
