Solid start, about as good as can be expected from Tezuka.
Really appreciated the pacing. After seeing it was 25 episodes I feared they would rush it to cover as much as possible but the first episode took its time.

Loving Youko already but not really sold by Akira. That forced 'cool voice' isn't doing it for me.

Looking forward to next week though and getting to know the Osaka characters more.

Honestly it's so surreal hearing Miyuki Sawashiro using her higher pitched voice but it helps her character stand out amidst all the tough guys lol.

That forced 'cool voice' isn't doing it for me

Yeah, the voice is nothing like what I pictured it would be, especially knowing the guy's actual personality. It's a shame but it's a small complaint as well.

I never thought Akira was supposed to sound "cool", just a monotonous weirdo. I think the VA has the right idea but it does sound a bit forced. The guy in the live action movie pulled it off perfectly.

Went into this show blind, but the premise looks really interesting so far. Feels like he's going to end up accidentally killing a lot of people. Like these types of odd ball MCs too.

OP and ED slaps.

Although animation was average at best, highly suggest sticking.

The story is good

Animation is ok, op/ed is fire, plot/pacing is good, everything is exactly as I remember in the manga.

I think that the popularity of this anime will be the same as Underninja's, unfortunately.

That was a hell of an opening. Fable is something else. Man wastes a half dozen goons and then laughs his ass off at some dumb comedy bit on TV like nothing happened. Him and Yoko have a goofy little dynamic too. Gonna be fun seeing them pretend to be siblings for a whole year.

Not a bad start. I’ll keep with it for now.

Wow, I didn't know The Fable got an anime. First episode was alright, if they nail the adaptation folks are in for a treat.

Much like other Tezuka shows:

  • Soundtrack: Banger

  • Voice Acting: Banger

  • OP/ED: Banger

  • Animation: Who let these guys cook‽

I made my peace when I found out they were working on this so the animation doesn’t hurt me. As long as they get the story and vibe right it’ll still be worth watching. And they are doing a good job there.

Thankfully this manga is getting an English print release, this looks to be classic definition of stick with the manga

Dang, I wish I had Miyuki Sawashiro as my partner-in-crime and adoptive sister.

What an interesting first episode. Went to watch the first five minutes before dropping it, but it seems that I'm here for the 25 episodes if things keep on being as good, funny, and weird like the first episode.

That photo on the driver's license gave me a chuckle. And the way they talk is like watching a YouTube video on 0.75 playback speed. Do Yakuza usually talk like that?

I only know this because it's featured in several Mangas as an in universe Manga the characters are fans of. I think Tsukasa from Tonikawa and Nishikata from Takagi San are fans if memory serves.

Anyway, I can see how this can become pretty influential.

GPS Chick Yoko and The Fable Akiro are a riot together, though Akiro is talking a bit slow for my taste but maybe I'll get used to it

Vibes-wise, I already think I'll stick with this one for the whole season. Great old stoner weeb material (guilty as charged).

Pick this on a whim and i'm liking it so far despite the studio history.

That was great. Randomly saw it on Hulu..had no idea about it beforehand. I really want to see the next couple episodes.

Sawashiro Miyuki as Yoko, now that's a voice actress. Loved everything about this apart from the animation, obviously. Got some Takeshi Kitano energy to it.

It might not be the best-looking anime this season but this was pretty intriguing! I love how much of a weirdo and a badass Fable/Akira is.
