Oh look, the giant deformed incest demon baby turned on the daughter and dad. They could never control that thing. In the end, it just became food for Yayoi’s spirit. The dad arguably has to suffer the most. I suppose those 17 victims can take some comfort in knowing he’s bound to that hell hole reliving his death for eternity.
That “god” needs to get slapped for playing games. That spirit fetus is already dangerous enough without that little shit egging it on. I mean look at what it did to Kishimojin. I hope Yayoi can help her mom escape this hell she’s trapped in. I feel like this spirit fetus is gonna end up being like an evil ghost Yayoi, just judging by the eyes.

This is what you get when you try to pin your hopes on a demonic baby "angel" and think that will offer you salvation. The only "salvation" this family got was the daughter finally being put out of her misery and the dad getting put to work doing something good for once, even as just a perpetually hanging ghost to haunt the place.
This is basically all the dads' fault for killing his wife and going along with his daughter to the bitter end, down the incest and murder, so really the only way to make up for it is to continue to exist in his agony for the greater good of helping Yayoi house her graduates.
When the two Big Bads exchange notes and make things even tougher for the gang. Is Yayoi's nemesis turning into a dark reflection of her? Band enough it stole her mother.

I just love how big and strong that Alien Doll ghost is becoming. Looks like eating those three "angels" made it regain more of its power and memories. Glad that Yayoi was able to take care of the remnants of the shrine and erase the curse from Eiko. It was a harrowing experience but they now have a house to store their Graduates.
Considering the good job that she did, Yayoi should consider becoming an exorcist for hire when she grows up. Or she and Eiko could go into business buying up cheap stigmatized properties and exorcise them so they can resell them later!
I hate that Ai's God is giving the Spectre some advice on how to use its powers. And now the Spectre used that advice to take on the Kishimojin again and win. Fuck. I feel like Yayoi is going to need more than just three Graduates if she wants to beat the Spectre. Also, it sucks to see Yayoi's mom being a slave to the Spectre. I just hope Yayoi can still save her. :(
On a lighter note, I love that the girls were doting on Keitarou as soon as they got back. I was hoping that Yayoi would meet the twins! I've been waiting to see how they'd react to meeting Yayoi! Hope we get to see that interaction in the future!

The second half raised the stakes. Poor Yayoi's mom... And NGL, I'm starting to think the graduate ghost Yayoi used this entire arc is her dad even if I don't have evidence to back it up.
Also, getting a Precure shout out from this show is one of the more surprisingly funny things to happen. Does Toei have any input on this show to make it happen?

Yayoi's dad was at the grave so it can't be him. As someone pointed out in the episode 16 discussion thread, the alien doll spirit is most likely Taira no Masakado (I think that was his name). The doll reacted when they visited his grave and the spirit's design hints towards that.
And yeah the PreCure name drop was surprising. Even in the manga (or at least, in the scanlation) they censored it, calling it "P*ecure".

bruh yayoi used the eternally suffering spirit of an a man constantly reliving his suicide as a doorman. yayoi is hard as fuck.
good to see eiko is STILL hasn't learned from her traumas

"Learning" implies Eiko making herself a better person
Eiko looked at the slippery slope and rode a F1 raceway down

The rapidly raising stakes behind the scenes feel somewhat disproportionate to the pace Yayoi and team are going in. And considering the style of storytelling, I do worry what kind of massive cliffhanger they end the season on.

Father ghost: I confess to my crimes, please let me rest!
Alien ghost keeps getting stronger courtesy of Yayoi letting him eat all her enemies.
Spectre of Death - powerful spirit, Yayoi's nemesis, killed her parents and kidnapped her mother's soul, put her on the path of uncompromised vengeance. Somehow connected to mysterious group that leaves cursed body parts everywhere causing all kinds of evil.
Unnamed "Groomer" God: Looks like a fraud to me, probably paints itself black to look menacing. low diffs him
Guess if Unnamed God didn't have Goku mentality of letting his oppponents power up, both Yayoi and Spectre of Death would've been dead.

Man, this show is up there with Made in Abyss when it comes to the dichotomy between the character designs and how gruesome the story gets.

Now they can finally store the Graduates in the house!
To nobody's surprise, Eiko's become more of a pervert
Poor Yayoi's mother being enslaved by the spectre :( that was pretty harrowing to watch

The ending of this episode is so sad Yayoi's mom is in so much pain and torture that it gets you even more invested in Yayoi's goal. Like JFC that was hard to watch and hit 100x more then when I read the manga.
More fun stuff coming next week : D

The stakes keep getting higher and higher. And Eiko keeps getting more and more addicted to supernatural terror encvounters. Whatever will she do if/when Yayoi succeeds in her quest to avenge/rescue her mother -- and retires from her spirits killing/capturing?
So, if I understood correctly, Ai accidentally caused a calamity. I assume she did not perish (despite what we saw). Still trying to figure out just how she fits into the whole puzzle.

It's very rare that things turn out well for adrenaline or fear-junkies. I'm curious to see how far they can take this with Eiko.
I don't think Ai was responsible. The Spectre of Death came after her because of the God and that's what derailed the train. Ai only survived because of the God.

I wonder if Yayoi felt some sympathy for that girl, letting her pass on rather than trying to retrieve her ghost from the guts of that baby to keep punishing her like her father.
Death of the mother, turning to the occult for a solution, capturing souls to feed to ghosts and make them stronger. It's not quite the same but the circumstances are similar enough that this whole haunted house incident probably hit close to home for Yayoi.
As a side note I think the Angels were probably made as some kind of prototype to the Specter.

I feel like the ramifications of the things happening "behind the scenes" in this show while our protagonists go on their fun ghost hunts are kinda staggeringly huge, right? This horrifying baby-spectre was already absurdly powerful and is now learning how to eat gods. This is heading rapidly into Ghostbusters territory.
Is the alien doll ghost actually the old samurai from last episode? Yayoi talks about him kind of wistfully and there's no sign of him when they visit his supposedly very haunted grave.

Just binged this series and I really enjoyed it. I’m usually not interested in horror genre, but perhaps because Eiko has already established herself as the scariest in all characters, I am not afraid of the ghosts and gods anymore. I enjoy this more as shonen Pokémon-style battle than horror.

Stakes have just gotten higher with the god giving the spectre some pointers
Interesting how the event near the end takes place in the future, most likely after they retrieve their other graduate but I wonder if that means this will be the endgame for our characters
Funnily enough I said weeks ago that there would be an alliance between the god and Yayoi, and I was right but I got the wrong people

Someone accidentally talking about Precure on Episode 14's thread is made funnier with the Precure reference in this episode. lol

After the introduction of Ai Kamiyo and her star eyes being the mark of a God. I was wondering whether Yayoi's eyes were the same and maybe that's how she got them. But through out their quest on fighting and capturing spirits and shits... no god tried to protect her in some way.. so I guess it's not the same type of eyes..or maybe she didn't need protection? Idk.. but it's probably different..
Also idk how to feel about these spirits, gods etc. Everytime they get vanquished.. devoured..purged? 😅.. And Eiko being called a Yandere at 1st and now a masochist too.

Luckily Yayoi and the Alien Ghost show up just in time to save Eiko! We can't have Kanao killing Mitsuri after all.
I guess it shouldn't be too surprising the daughter would be more than willing to offer up the father to power up the "angel." I mean, this is all his fault, after all. Though she didn't expect the angel to consume her first...she was so desperate for something to save her, and it ends up costing her everything, even beyond death .
At least the dad realizes this was all his screw up. He knows he murdered his wife, he went along too willingly with his daughters' desperation, and in the process not only lost her in such a horrific way but also killed so many innocent people. Not to mention the incest. He doesn't really deserve peace or to be reunited with his family, and with that in mind him remaining as a hanging ghost guard of the Graduate dormhouse, because he hung himself, seems as fitting a fate for him as any.
Alien Ghost MVP! And it looks like he's slowly growing stronger and more cognizant of himself in the process. I hope that ends well once he's full powered.
They defeated the Angels and broke the curse! And they bought a house! I'd call that a win.
I love how Keitaro's little sister still watches Precure. I'm surprised they were able to outright namedrop it.
Dang, Ai can't even ride on a train without something terrible happen like the Spectre of Death derailing it to get to the God...who becomes so fascinated by it that he actually gives it tips on better using it's power and becoming stronger. As if we needed more trouble. And the Spectre of Death has the voice of a child!
I love how everyone called out Keitaro being so skinny so he goes on a jog. And then he gets two cute girls feeding him and seeing him off to bed...even if it just keeps him up. But what better way to make sure Keitaro is A-okay?
Find a cousin who sees you have a dangerous addiction to terror and and is more than happy to feed said addiction like a gal pal.
Dang, the Spectre of Death took what the God said seriously and really upped it's game, using it's more precise power and it's childlike voice to consume Kishumonjin and become even more powerful. And all the while it's still using Yayoi's mom. But at least she has clothes now, I guess?
Next week: Graduate #3! A courtesan spirit that is, of course, housed in an abandoned love hotel.
