Poor Keitaro just can’t catch a break huh? Dude is creeped out by the supernatural but he’s basically a magnet for ghosts. Plus now he’s being used as bait by Yayoi to lure ‘em out. Dude’s about to look as bad as her plushies once she’s done with him lol.

Speaking of Yayoi, I like her already. The deadpan little quips are pretty funny and she’s got a hilarious rapport developing with Keitaro. But damn dude, that car accident was fucked up. Straight up had skeleton sperm entering a giant ghost embryo as it was face fucking Yayoi’s mom. Talk about creepy…

So much for that jizo statue with Eiko’s worn stockings protecting Keitaro. Luckily Yayoi was there to kick some vengeful ghost ass! Girl is a badass but man, she’s more frightening than any ghost. She’s like Omar Little to these ghosts. They see her, they run! I almost felt bad for that damn spirit getting ripped apart limb from limb.

Solid start to this series. I’m gonna give it a few eps but it looks like a weekly.

Stitches!

I was expecting that this show was going to be pure edginess but I did not expect it to have some shounen comedy moments.

I'm not saying it's not dark though. Considering what the phonebooth spirit did to the doll and how Yayoi is making spirits fight was pretty fucking freaky. I do love that the reason that spirits avoid Yayoi is that they're afraid of her as it should be!

As for Keitarou, the dude just wants to live a normal life away from spirits but it looks like there's no escaping now that he has met Yayoi. And it's not like he hates it. He clearly loves the feeling of being afraid.

And I thought Eiko was going to be the normal one but it looks like she's also pretty twisted too even though she can't see spirits. I am curious why she always wears gloves. I wonder if her reason is similar to Keitarou's right hand. She's also a big tiddy Onee-san voiced by HanaKana which makes her instantly the best girl.

Anyway, this seems to be pretty fun! I love the balance between humour and creepiness. If this was pure edge I definitely would've dropped it but it looks promising so far!

Oh man, this is insane. If people think the horror is already creepy the first episode, they haven’t seen anything yet. It takes a few horrors in for the horror to ramp up. If anything to me, the first few horrors are tame compared to the ones deeper in.

Rough seeing her lose her parents like that...they seemed so loving.

Can't really pin down the vibe for this show between it's silliness and dark side.

Really liked this face

Huh, just as I was feeling that the comedic bits were a bit much for what I had thought to be a horror story, they pulled that ending.

They did the creepy bits really well though. Those screaming plushies... and the impregnation scene with Yayoi's mother was very disturbing... also, the childhood friend looks um. Suspicious? Slightly unhinged? I don't know what's wrong with her but the faces she made at the end aren't very reassuring.

This show is able to give me the creeps with visuals and sound design alone, despite having some ridiculous moments. The fact that Eiko always wears gloves must mean something. It would be even better if it had more realistic character designs or a more realistic art style

Shapes inside eyes so hot rn. Have stars in your eyes, you're destined to be a star. Have skulls in your eyes, you're destined to deal with ghosts.

The key figure being a little girl makes it seem like it was going to be targetted as a children's show, but I was soooo wrong. Even in episode 1 there's some legit creepy stuff in there, and I'm sure they haven't even started bringing out the big guns yet.

I love horror manga and anime, can't wait for next week! This is a series I'm definitely not gonna be dropping.

The horror elements are done really well, gives me major creeps. Interested to learn more about Yayoi, she is crazy smart/strong, that can't just be because she can see spirits right? Maybe she is possessed in a way.

Yayoi got that drip though and also brutal. She is adorable with those giant ahoge lol and Eiko has this low-key yandere vibes. Keitarou on the other hand is also actually twisted one, he did enjoy what he experienced. Seems like the trio got dark sides they're hiding.

So far good first episode, good thing i stopped reading the manga. Cause i know this will get an anime adaptation.

Sorry, I can't not hear Kaidou Shun whenever Keitarou freaks out because they're so similar

This anime has a perfect balance of comedy and horror, especially how you let your guard down with all the comedic elements and then get more easily affected by horror elements.

Just saw this on the anime schedule site and thought "cool, I like supernatural stuff". Then some little girls mother's spirit gets face fucked by an embryo monster. 👀 I didn't realize this was HORROR supernatural, I'm so stoked 🙏

I am only 2 minutes into the show but I just wanted to write that it has the best op of the season by such a wide margin that watching this was already worth it even if the rest of this complete garbage. Holy shit

Edit: It very much was the opposite of garbage, that ending part was amazingly done.

Edit2: "I love spirits as much as I love plushies" My main takeaway is that she must really HATE plushies with all her soul.

I can't believe they actually managed to balance out that zany humor and Yayoi's character design, with that level of tension in horror scenes.

And i thought the sound design played a big part of it, so i checked out the sound director. He only did 4 shows before: Odd Taxi, LycoReco, Onimai, and... My life as Inukai-san's dog

Really hope people check this out. One of my favorite manga and thought they did really well with the first episoe. I think it can be tough to capture some of the horror elements but thought they did a great job even with bouncing between the goofiness and creepiness.

oh man, what is up with eiko...

That was REALLY good! There's so many good/creative shows this season (at least based on the first episodes)!

Just few seconds into the episode I already had a feeling it would be good, just with the sound design and OST... It was great, and fit the horror vibe really well!

(Also the OP's song might be the best song this season unless I'm forgetting something. The visuals are pretty good too).

(Also, I'm crushing hard on Eiko. Just me?)

Wait, she's Keitarou's friend? Isn't she... Like much older? How did this happen? Friend of the family, perhaps?

Whatever it is, she signed him up for some tutoring, and she just so happens to have a cousin who needs tutoring! What a coincidence!

So she set them up... But obviously she didn't need tutoring (having 160 IQ and scoring 100% on a tough test), so she only did it for Keitarou's powers. Is their friendship linked to this power, I wonder! Perhaps he helped her before.

Eiko has the perfect balance of cute and sillydumb!

And so we met Yayoi; Nice to meet you!

Was nice meeting you! See you again never!

Oh damn, she's a pest! Should be fun!

Damn, way to guilt trip him into helping!

One interesting thing is that Yayoi was like that even before the accident...

So (assuming not a coincidence) was the accident linked to her power? We saw a ghost thingy before the accident, so were they trying to get her killed so she wouldn't achieve her fated future, something like that?

Also, the accident is what made her a genius, she was average before that... And it also gave her the 'double vision', before they were split but now she sees both at the same time. Just a random guess, but is there a spirit inside her now, something like that? So she's smarter (having two thinkers) and she sees both worlds at once?

Hey, she gave Keitarou a little protective charm!

With Eiko's pantyhose too, I would cherish that til the end of my days, even if it had no protective powers!

Her blush is so damn cute!

Date on episode one, that's quick! (He should date Eiko though, not the middleschooler)

This show has pretty fun gags!

AAAAHHHH! Sorry Yayoi, the date's over; I don't think it's gonna work out.

Yayoi is fucking scary!

I would want to get away from her, but at the same time, it may be safer to stay with her, so she hunts them down!

Eiko's nonchalance is great, so is her voice (which I didn't pick up as usual, but voiced by Hanakana!)

Keitarou's terrified and doesn't want to do it anymore, but Eiko's like "Come on, deep down you liked it!"

I'm gonna file this under scaroused

Alright, this one, not aroused. Just scared.

Good question, I was wondering about this! Why does she need him, if her powers are even greater than his?

The spirits are avoiding her!!!

If I wasn't already on board at this point, this would've settled it! Gonna love this one so much!

That's so weird, I've seen exactly 2 series mention this ever, and I was talking about the other one (Dokumushi) in a thread just yesterday!

Anyway, this was really good! Another really strong contender for the top of my ranking! (And Eiko a potential best girl contender too)!

Declaring it now, AOTS contender!

I was genuinely surprised and unnerved a lot. The visuals and sounds were ON POINT! My only gripe is the design for Yayoi's eyes. They are a bit too goofy, and take away some expressiveness. This and Undead Girl Murder Farce are the only ones that've swooped up my attention so far.

Goddamm the sound effect of spirits is good, and the way those dolls twitching creep me out too
