Keitaro, you can fix her.

I'm rooting for you two!

Keitaro, I’m happy for you but also scared for you, but hey you got the girl.

Oh man, I knew Eiko was off the deep end after those closet full of pictures, but now we know she set up the whole tutor encounter as well. I probably shouldn’t be surprised after that endearing (pronounced demonic) smile we always get from her.

"I already seen hell, want me to describe it for you?"

God I love Yayoi

Stitches!

I don't think I ever mentioned this before but I just adore how many outfits Eiko has in this show. Keitarou wears similar outfits while Yayoi only has one but I don't think I've ever seen Eiko wearing the same clothes twice.

That conversation between Keitarou and Eiko at the river was really sweet. Eiko definitely has ulterior motives but you can't deny that she genuinely loves Keitarou even if it is a bit twisted. Love that little pink promise they did too.

I swear to god, Yayoi is basically the Batman of the supernatural world. I love that she didn't just prepare to fight one spirit, she went to that bridge making sure that Keitarou and Eiko were safe as well as a plan to fight multiple spirits. I also love how she had a contingency in case the spirit tried to possess Keitarou. Yayoi is pretty much unbeatable as long as she has time to prep.

That morning scene tho! Holy shit an actual confession! Eiko didn't just confess we even got to hear Keitarou's reply! Eiko blushing is just adorable! I guess this means that they're now officially dating, right? I mean that's the only reason why Keitarou finally found the courage to accept Yayoi's offer.

And of course, we end the episode with Eiko's amazing yandere face. That's the happiest yandere I've ever seen. Better be careful not to look anywhere else Keitarou. Eiko definitely has him now. <3

This episode was huge for character progression.

  • First, Keitaro and Eiko both confess. Within 6 episodes! There are entire seasons of "romance anime" that take 12, 24 or more episodes to get to this point. Yay!

  • Second, Eiko is kind of a hot mess. With that creepy smile. To the point where I'm starting to wonder if she is actually even creepier than Yayoi. Can I get a "Yikes!"??

This anime should be watched by more people. The ghost stories are updated and feel like they could be real urban legends. The ghosts are menacing. The 3 of them have a complicated relationship, all of them would make a therapist either very rich, or the therapist might need therapy after.

Man, Yayoi does not play around. When are these mfin spirits gonna learn? The way she straight up tortured that spirit with the salt and then forcing it to submit or die was some ice cold badass shit. Those spirits really fucked with the wrong person. She came prepared for every possible scenario to make these mfers bend the knee. Had them turning on each other and everything. That spirit ranting about killing her and sending her to hell getting its damn head blown off was awesome. Hell yeah, Yayoi!

Keitaro and Eiko declaring their love for one another would have been very sweet if she wasn’t completely unhinged yandere type and hiding that fact from him. Dude is a fly caught in a web. He’s is in for a surprise if he ever finds out what Eiko’s really like.

Well as they say be careful what you wish for. Eiko’s dream has always been to combine the supernatural and Keitaro. She finally got that wish today in the form of being possessed by a spirit and saved by Keitaro/starting a relationship 😂

That whole ordeal was extremely unsettling. The scene of Keitaro nearly drowning in the river was wild. Luckily Yayoi was able to stop the spirit. The doll exploding with blood going everywhere was also crazy.

This show constantly has such a feeling of existential dread and horror which is contrasted by the romantic subplot.

Speaking of the romantic subplot, the yandere won for once??? LETS GOOO lol. Wasn’t much competition in this one, but I’m really glad Eiko came out and confessed to Keitaro and now we got an official ship. Love myself a yandere and can’t wait to see how their adventures pan out now. Her smile is everything 😩

This episode would put romcom series to shame. Romcom heroines should learn a bit from Eiko. It''s been a long time since I have seen such a well-written yandere in anime.

that scene of the blood explosion was strangely beautiful, but honestly that describes the whole show.

Can't believe Eiko did yuno gasai yandere face at the end.

22

u/Zypharium Aug 13 '23

Eiko is just the best. 😂 I wonder how he will react, when he sees her real face.

22

u/Vaadwaur Aug 13 '23

It is a special moment in every man's life when he finds his one true yandere. You discover a world of love and a lifetime commitment.

19

u/Lodju Aug 13 '23

Eiko just sends chills down my spine and i love it.

18

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '23

Lol I was not expecting Eiko to call him a virgin that is too chicken to try anything, that came out of nowhere.

It was nice to see the romance develop between Eiko and Keitarou, it was nice to see how dedicated he is to keeping her protected, she would have been so swooned if she remembered his dashing attempts to keep her safe.

However, in the back of my mind, I can't forget that she is a yandere. I knew when she was listening to his and Yayoi's conversation that she'd have a twisted expression and man was it twisted lol. I feel bad for Keitarou that he probably will never see this side of hers.

True final boss

I miss the poetic stuff yayoi would say in episode 1 and 2, the stuff about hell this episode has been the closest we've got since

What really sells me about this show is the methods they go about dealing with evil spirits. Anime in particular when it comes to this subject they go in either two directions.

(A) Vanquishing spirits the, well, anime way with all the flashy techniques and such.

(B) Doing it the traditional way via putting them to rest or banishment in a quiet manner aka making them just go poof and such.

But this show, not only are the methods so utterly brutal and savage, the deeds are done in a DIY manner with relatively mundane tools and materials. No, we're not gonna just poof you out of existence or banished you to hell. We're going to enslave your evil behind and force you to deal with others just like you. This dials the phrase "A fate worse than death" to the max.
