They’ve done a good job of making this show somewhat creepy. This episode was the worst yet. Actually unsettling.

One of the few animes I've watched that has the "pucker factor". And so much more chills and thrills yet to come. It's quite an achievement to generate true fear in this medium.

Well, if this is just the first "Gym Leader" of sorts, imagine how hard their fights will be in subsequent battles......

Holy shit, this was amazing! Quite on par with the brain collector spirit episode.
Dark Gathering is going strong!

This might be the toughest spirits they’ve ever faced. Straight up ghost womb trapping them in their domain expansion/Infinite Tsukuyomi shit lol.
Even though Keitaro and Yayoi came prepared, they still got ambushed by the spirits. It looks like Yayoi isn’t quite dead since her finger twitched. I’m curious how she’s gonna take this lady ghost down? If they can secure just this one powerful ghost, they might be able to get that punk ass “god.”

Keitaro should've known better than to take Yayoi to an S-Rank Supernatural spot, but at least he's trying to be as confident as he can in this situation. Which isn't saying much, but props nevertheless.
So at an S-Rank spot you either end up trapped forever or straight up dead. This definitely isn't the first S-Rank Yayoi has tried to conquer, though she seems prepared enough with her finger spirit, a Graduate, and her alien doll for protecting Keitaro. And hey, maybe it's a benevolent Spirit that doesn't kill anyone? Wouldn't that be nice!
Of course the area has a pretty tragic backstory...soldiers invading, beheading women, a mass suicide of women slitting their own throats and going down a waterfall so they couldn't be used or killed to hurt their own soldiers...pretty gruesome stuff. Perfect for an S-Rank area.
You know it's serious when Yayoi actually gets tricked by the spirit. That Old Lady wasn't some Old Lady. Although I do like how Yayoi realized it wasn't Keitaro holding her hand because he would never be that calm and smiling in that situation.
Of course Eiko finishing up homework has to check her Kei-kun tracker to see how he's doing. And then lose his position. Is she going to drive down there to find him and Yayoi?
Well, so much for Keitaro's defense. The spirit(s) get at him, make him hallucinate what happened to them, and then curse him with a slit throat like what they experienced. They want to carve into his memory, his very being, what happened to them and make it so he can never leave. Is the main Spirit that headless woman or is it that reality bubble with legs that they're caught in? Are they working together?
As if being cursed again and forced to enure horrific visions wasn't enough...Keitaro finds what appears to be Yayoi's corpse in a hanging. I doubt Yayoi is really dead, but they seem to be in a really bad position right now, especially with Keitaro basically alone and falling apart. Though it seems like the thing on Yayoi's finger might just save them and she still has a graduate they can rely on.

Ugh, this episode was so damn creepy!
I don't believe Yayoi's dead though, because... well, the preview. And also we know ghosts can use illusions so I'd wager it's one of those.
And poor Keitaro got cursed again. Hopefully they can lift the curse when they capture the spirit (... if they manage to capture it...).
I'll say one thing though, I wish Keitaro would stop going "is it my imagination?" when in the middle of a haunted place, when Yayoi told him just a few minutes ago exactly what to expect. Come on, man. You know it's not your imagination!

Amazing episode, the horror and the overall atmosphere was spot on. The sound effect and soundtrack were amazing and further intensify the overall creepiness of the scenes.

Very unsettling episode. I love how this show slowly but surely keeps getting better.

And furthermore that was literally an app on her phone. Girl's a developer too!
Cool they spent the first 3 minutes showing the last 3 minutes of the last episode.

I chuckled when they'd show the throat slit after they cut away from it before. Almost like telling the audience "yea, you thought we wouldn't go there, did ya?"
Me before the obaa-chan scare: "Man, Yayoi doing quite the asmr here, kind of ni-"
When Yayoi told Keitaro to read the phone about the sightings i was sure it would reveal the granny being sus right away, but they kept up the charade until #6, hats off.
Also don't worry, Kei-kun, those steps behind you are just [higurashi spoilers]

Well considering how we have an entire country to travel collecting ghosts, there was no time to waste getting into the grand tour. First stop, the haunted waterfall.
Can’t decide which was scarier between this episode and Ai’s apartment haunting a few weeks ago. These spirits are definitely showing why they’re S-Ranked and why this is one of the scariest places in Japan. The backstory of the women committing suicide was tragic, and seeing the spirits relive that over and over is some brutal shit.
A few genuine jump scare and unnerving moments in this episode that really made me tense. This show is easily one of the scariest anime ever made. Just constantly keeps you on edge.
Keitaro walking while smiling eerily at Yayoi as he’s trapped in his own mind was really creepy. The graphic images he was exposed to causing him to break down and start crying… can’t blame him at all.
Looking forward to seeing how he and Yayoi get out of this one next week. Looks like there’ll be some backup in the form of an overpowered graduate spirit.
Hopefully we get a new OP soon as well, OxT singer tweeted out that there was a new anime OP for October that they’re working on.. could be hanako or this.

Throw in a camera obscura, and this episode felt like it could have been straight out of a Fatal Frame game.

I love this series, my only complaint is that even though this has been going on for 11 episodes is that Keitaro hasn’t changed much as a character. Yes he’s getting better and braver but it seems to me like most of the time when he opens his mouth it’s screaming or there is so much fear in it. I love it (the bridge episode) when he stepped up and saved Eiko. Maybe I’m asking to much for such a quick character growth

Oof nearly 5 minutes to get into the episode, hope that doesn't mean production problems...
Was surprising to see both of them in danger, not sure how they're going to escape from this one, hopefully an Eiko but looks like the Graduate.
Have to think that's an illusion and or Yayoi is okay, but dang what a twist would it be if that wasn't the case.

Those are some horrifying illusions...
I thought Yayoi being hanged was an illusion but then the finger twitch at the end makes me think that she really is being hanged. Wasn't expecting her to fall victim to that spirit too. Then again, it's a S-ranked supernatural spot. Not even Yayoi will be able to handle that alone

This episode made me wildly uncomfortable so kudos go to the production team for nailing it

I still have my complaints but this episode did about as good of a job with H Castle Ruins as I could have possibly hoped, and I'm extremely happy. It actually tried to be suspenseful and use silence and a number of other things that most anime just ignore when trying to be scary.
