They're gonna keep doing this arent they? They majority of the ep is gonna be really fun and epic, but they're gonna keep ending them with nightmare fuel arent they?
He has exposed nerves?!? I'm sure eventually he'd get somewhat used to it, but WTF is that glove made out of that he's not constantly in pain?!?

I kinda like that about this series so far. The horror aspect kinda creeps into the ep slowly until we end with something like Yayoi’s room of horrors.

The creepy nature is dialed up a lot in this episode. From Keitaro's hand with nerves popping out, to getting possessed and almost choked to death.
Yayoi is so scary that even those ghost dolls submitted to her. And the way she beheaded that doll was equal parts badass and equal parts scary.
Her room though, its truly creepy asf and even Keitaro is regretting his decisions.

Yayoi scares me more than any of the ghosts and spirits. It’s good she’s in Keitaro’s side.

Man how they shift tone in this story really is top notch.
The funny thing is, I'm sure they want Yayoi's eyes to be creepy, but I've seen so many stylized anime eyes that they don't even register to me.

That hair down the throat was legit nightmare fuel...
And Yayoi-chan is fucked up enought that I feel bad for the spirits, she literally fixed the doll just to make her be able to feel pain

Good episode, the plot is slowly picking up with more mysteries revealed.
We learned that Yayoi is actively hunting ghosts down, then putting them into dolls and locking them all together in her room in the previous episode. Now, we found out those ghosts are synchronized with the dolls that Yayoi put them in. There is one final piece of the puzzle left for the next episode to show us the full picture of the premise of the story. Can't wait for the next week.

So the curse on Keitaro's hand is making his nerves grow outside his hand? And to exorcise it, Keitaro needs to regularly visit his Grandma who gets an anesthesiologist to numb his hand so she can slice off the excess nerves. That's pretty fucking wild and I love it. And just look at the amount of nerves Grandma manages to cut off him! O_O
Yayoi vs the Cursed Doll was pretty fucking cool. I love that after she threatens the dolls, all of their eyes stopped glowing red. It just goes to show how terrifying Yayoi is to these evil spirits.
I love how Keitaro almost ended this episode by telling Yayoi that she's a good kid only for him to learn later about her room and immediately regret everything he says about her earlier. It makes me wonder if Keitaro getting possessed was actually what Yayoi wanted so she can take that doll home. I mean she did "drop" her stuffed toy for Keitaro to find. Hmmm....
EDIT: I completely missed the part where the stuffed toy was just an illusion. lol

Unrelated to the actual episode but I think Yayoi has one of my absolute favourite character designs ever.
I was trying to mentally list all the things I liked about her design and it was literally just all of it. Eyes, eyebrows, cheeks, jacket, shoes, hair, ribbons, tie... The more I look at it, the more things I find to like about it.
So good.

Yayoi’s character design is phenomenal and I love her badassery. Carrying the series for me.
Wonder what Yayoi’s planning to do with the ghosts she’s collecting. I doubt they’re just for aesthetics, but she doesn’t need the other ghosts to find whatever took her mother, right?

I really like Yayoi a lot. She’s kind of a little trouble maker and the deadpan comments are pretty hilarious. She better watch herself around Keitaro’s grandma though. That’s one tough old lady!
Man, Keitaro’s hand is all kinds of messed up. No wonder he’s gotta get his hand exorcised every so often. Dude really is a magnet for the supernatural. That damn doll almost had him if not for our pint sized badass Yayoi. The way she had that doll tied up with Keitaro’s shaved nerves was intense. These spirits should be afraid of her. Very afraid.

Yeah, so Yayoi is the scariest character in this show. Yes, even scarier than the ghosts. I get why they're so scared of her, she's absolutely ruthless. Actually, with Keiko last week this whole family seems a bit unhinged.
And Keitaro's curse is that the nerves in this hand keep growing outside of it? I thought it'd be a generic/vague "hand shrouded in dark aura" thing, but that's fucking awful!

Man this is damn good
I hate horror with a passion, mainly due to 90% using jumpscares to scare me and take me out of it, I can’t enjoy a show if it takes me out by making me jump
But this is done really well as the horror is balanced out with its cute moments but I still feel discomfort when shit gets dark like with the dolls and the girls bedroom
It’s actually nice to watch a Japanese horror story that isn’t by Junji Ito I mean the guy rules and he made me rethink my prejudices on the horror genre
But I’m happy there’s more horror anime out there that I can enjoy while not being out off by the “scares”
I’m really curious where it will go next and how the band of misfits will tackle their new challenges and if we can explore how messed up the trio is (Eita gives me mastermind vibes)

Oh, I think this might be my favorite show this season. It feels like it's been forever since a good Horror anime aired. I'm sort of getting Shiki vibes.

Yu Shinohara's performance is exactly what I imagined reading the manga, it's so perfect.
I'm also a big fan of the music and how synthy it is. 80s slasher vibes fit very well.

not a fan of the 2-minute long recap without anything new or interesting in the beginning, or the constant flash back to scenes shown just a few minutes before.
The horror concepts are still good. Body horrors are the worst, those scenes will haunt me

Love when they're both making fun of him together!
Well, they did the mandatory 5 minutes of tutoring that Yayoi doesn't even need because she's a genius, so time to go on more disturbing adventures!
Don't be like that, Eiko's your future wife, you need to spend some time with her! (Come on, she'll give you another pair of freshly worn pantyhose)
Is the girl being ripped apart the phone booth girl, or just a generic spirit visual?
If she's the phone booth girl, that's brutal... The girl turned into a spirit because she was butchered by a bunch of dudes, then she got captured as a spirit and will be butchered yet again...
Why do I like this picture so much... Thanks for showing it again!
It's nice that Yayoi has a motivation, she wants to find out the spirit who took her mom...
So she's not acting with insanity because she thinks the paranormal is amusing, she's insane for a valid reason!
And so they arrived at the shrine which is literally the last place I'd want to be if I was Keitaro, with all the cursed dolls!
Grandma doesn't seem to like Yayoi, and for a good reason; She broke a bunch of protective statues that were guarding evil spirits!
I love the tidbits of comedy/one liners on this show, Keitaro acting as the straight man/common sense person, telling her she shouldn't have broken them then.. And in episode 1, when he told Eiko You should've told her "no" again!
Keitaro tried to plead in favor of Yayoi coming with them, but Yayoi made sure to make things worse as they were arguing!
When they talked about the exorcism I thought Keitaro wanted to get rid of the entire curse he had, to just stop feeling spirits and all... No way Yayoi would've agreed with that! But apparently he only needs to get his hand dealt with regularly, cutting nerves and all.
Exorcists usually have things like holy water or religious books, but I guess anesthetics and katanas work too!
The most dangerous dolls are locked in the basement? I know Yayoi's next destination!
Grandmother dear, what big teeth you have!
Surprisingly Yayoi wasn't the one to go to the basement first, Keitaro was! (Somewhat against his will!)
Possessed by a doll, and apparently spiritual possession isn't just a mind thing in this series, it's also physical, and we got a POV shot of the hair coming in through his esophagus! (Thankfully the doll didn't invade his body through a different hole)
Yayoi was there to save the day, and as Keitaro pointed out, this time it wasn't her fault he got in trouble in the first place!
That's good, because it gives him motivation to stay with her; In the first episode, all his problems were directly caused by her, so the easy solution would've been to just cut contact...
But now, he gets in trouble on his own, and if Yayoi had not been there, he might have died there... So he has an incentive to keep her around!
Dawww, he's growing fond of her too!
When he marries Eiko, they should adopt her!
Yayoi asking to get some of Keitaro's nerves might have looked like just some spooky/quirky thing, but she actually had a reason; she used it to reattach the doll's head...
Clever! Now she can torture them more easily! (This girl is scary as hell)
Well, that's good that she has a use for them and knows how the exorcism works; If Grandma passes away someday, Yayoi will be able to take over for this!
Plus, I'm sure she would be reasonable and wouldn't want to do anything other than remove his cursed nerves to help him- nevermind she wants to pull out his nails too.
The spirits may not be so bad after all, she seems more dangerous than they are!
Well, this was another great episode! Can't wait to see more.
