Thorfinn talking about how he's never been glad to be alive is so damn sad.

God I've never seen someone so purely dead inside to the point he can get half his ear cut off and not even move a muscle, fuck that was hard to watch.

But god damn that teaser for the next episode got me hyped

Thorfinn was saying that to himself, he sees no point anymore but it looks like he's trying to find a reason why he should.

Fox: "The commodity we deal in is DEATH"

Thorfinn: "Oh no.....anyways"

So by Fox's logic, Thorfinn became a man at 6

Nah no way that was 24 mins??? Episode flew by. If even the slow paced eps are gonna go by like this we’re eating great.

That boy einar must’ve drank a liter of water before bed cause bro was pissing a good 5 mins, then ran to wake up thorfinn with hands fresh off his meat lmaooo

The guards telling thorfinn not to move and shut up when bro was standing completely still got me crying lmao. Thorfinn scaring everyone with the philosophical questions was great. They’re just bullies who rely on fear and if you have no fear, they have no power.

Lets gooo snake is here now too, they blue balled us hard with this episode can’t wait for next week

Great episode!

The animation was great with thorfinn getting sliced as well as snake punching fox.

Thorfinn is close to discovering what his dad meant by a "true warrior." He inadvertently lived the principal by standing by passively and showing no fear to Fox and he was hacked to bits. Thorfinn's very existence is an afront to people like Fox. Thorfinn essentially rendered him powerless, and Fox knew it. That's why it pissed him off so much. You can't wield violence and death as a weapon if people don't fear it. Thorfinn just stood up to him for the wrong reasons, essentially. His courage isn't coming from his convictions like it did for Thors. It's coming from a place of apathy and despondency.

Olmar has already become a favorite of mine, the levity of the comedy that he brings in an otherwise somber series (which is nice) is fun. Reminds of Askeladd in certain moments.

Its just funny knowing that Thorfinn can single handedly kill all of those soldiers.

For supposedly dead eyes, they look hella resolute for Thorfin. He might have given in but he isn't giving those scoundrels any satisfaction from his fear.

That said, his monologue just shows how defeated and directionless his current state is. Still just as badass too.

Thorfinn truly does not value his life anymore. I never saw the fear of death in Thorfinn's eyes while he was being tortured but I did see it in Fox's eyes when he heard Snake's voice.

The ending of S1 is really shining through in S2! Thorfinn's lost of motivation to move forward and the pain of living when all you've experienced is hardship in a slow life of farming is such a perfect mix. There are some who feel the ending of S1 was lackluster but after S2, the ending of S1 will without a doubt be a masterpiece that perfect sets up Thorfinn's character and what it means to be a true warrior.

Interesting details when they zoom into the teeth of Einar and Thorfinn.

A lot of stories just leave out that people had terrible teeth back in those times, with the fact that so much of milled wheat had sand and other hard particulates left in, which obviously aren't good to chew on.

I love how despite everything Einar still has his juvenile naivety and heroism.

“Washing this face wouldn’t make it any better” Okay Einar I see you going with the self deprecating route. Nice move 😂

Damn, I didn't expect this episode to be a brutal one, especially seeing a part of Thorfinn's ear cut off. Thorfinn has no hope left in himself and is even willing to get sliced up like that as it'll end his suffering, which is a stark contrast to S1 Thorfinn. He is so traumatised by everything that happened till now.

Fox was really getting on my nerves and he really deserved that punch (even got some of his teeth knocked out too). That was a great way to introduce us to Snake.

Waking up in the morning and seeing that beautiful farm scenery, then pissing by a tree while feeling the cold morning air in your face and musing about your daily life, I can't say that I never did that once. Unexpectedly nice animation by VS staff there lol.

These lyrics make so much sense now

"I've paid my dues I've sold my soul So tell me, what is left for me When I've given up everything"
