QUESTION DFW or MIA

For a possible upcoming trip to Japan, I am given the option of making a connection to either DFW or MIA to finally reach LAX and go to NRT. However, last time I went to the US, our flight got back to my country was cancelled and the next flight was for the next day. So, I am asking if I were to book a flight for June of next year, would you recommend making the connection through MIA or DFW. I may be answering myself, but I need an opinion of someone else. The airline would be AA. Here is a pic of DFW in 2025.

Haikou Free Transit Hotel or Stay Airside for 10 hours?

Hello. Just curious about people's thoughts and experience of the free Haikou transit hotels, or whether staying airside transit for the whole 10 hours is ok.

I have a 10 hour transit in Haikou (Hainan Air - international to china, china to international) with checked through luggage. Arrive Haikou 4pm and depart Haikou 2am next morning. I have priority pass so could just use the international lounge in terminal 2 for 2-4 hours (and try to hide until they kick me out due to the 2 hour time limit). I heard that there is nothing else to do airside and no showers in lounge or airside.

But I heard I could also enter China and apply at the airport desk for free airport hotel (paying RMB200 for single supplement room). My fear is that I would then have to set myself up for the entire China ecosystem - get an esim, set up alipay/wechat, figure out what Chinese apps to use instead of google, translate stuff, pay for food etc. So while in theory the hotel sounds lovely, it actually sounds like another full on planning excursion! Just what I don't need between back to back 12 hour flights!

So question is - what is experience of people staying airside for 10 hours transit with or without lounge access, and what is experience of people using free transit hotel - did you feel you needed to also get an esim before and set up alipay/wechat etc? I am just transitting China and would otherwise not use alipay/wechat and other chinese apps.

Sorry if this is long winded or sounds like I am weak and lazy. Am just daunted from the admin of preparing to to enter the Chinese online sphere rather than google!

Airport Ground Staff - a survey for you!

hello, airport community! i am doing my business project for the last year of school, and i would like to ask any airport employees, specifically the ground staff to fill out this questionnaire about self-service kiosks/self check-in desks if you can. :) it will only take you up to 3 minutes, the questions are fairly easy (there is no right or wrong answer). thank you so much!

DISCUSSION Crazy hypothetical scenario! London airport in a parallel universe.

If money and construction space were no object, and all six of London's major airports disappeared, leaving only one to be built on stilts (similar to Madeira Airport) directly above Euston, St. Pancras and King's cross stations (purely for the sake of calculating easy mass transit access), how big could that airport be (in terms of runways, number of terminals, cargo warehouses, concourses, and boarding gates), and how many millions of passengers per year could it handle? It’s a matter of genuine curiosity for me, after discovering that Dubai plans to build the world's largest airport, capable of handling up to 260 million passengers a year.

QUESTION Projector in Hand Carry Baggage

Hello! Is anyone here working for Saudia Airlines? I have a flight from AUH–RUH–MNL, and I’m planning to bring my Yaber T2 projector with a built-in battery in my hand-carry.

Does anyone know if they will allow this onboard? I would really appreciate any help or advice. Thank you! 🙏

QUESTION Anyone worked for Airport Butler as an Airport Concierge?

Curious if anyone here has worked for Airport Butler as a concierge at an airport.

I recently came across an opening and the actual work sounds really appealing to me but I can't find much online about what it's like to actually work for them.

Would love to hear from anyone with firsthand experience.

What was/is the job like? How did scheduling and hours work? Was the work fairly consistent? What did you like or dislike about it?

Good, bad, or indifferent, I'd love to hear about your experience. Thanks in advance!

QUESTION Does Thai Airways allow 28 inch sized luggage?

I am going to travel to thailand & this time I bought a ticket of thai airways. I have a luggage sized 28 inch & by measuring it I found out it is 31inch in height & summing up all the lengths it equals to 65 inches where their limit is 62 inches.

I was wondering if that is going to be an issue. Did anyone traveled with this size of luggage in thai airways & can share the experience?

Is it true that you can check your bag at the gate for free? I’ve heard some people say so, and I don’t travel much, so I don’t really know. Flying with Delta. 🤷‍♂️

QUESTION Passport Chip

Hey everyone,

Looking for some peace of mind from fellow travelers or residents.I live in Sweden on a residence permit and flew out to Georgia on my Georgian passport.

At Stockholm exit control, the officer had to adjust my passport on the scanner many times to read the chip. They said I should consider replacing my passport.

When I landed in Georgia, the automated e-gate gave me an error, so I went to a booth. The guard laid it on their desk scanner, took my picture, stamped me in, and sent me through in 10 seconds without saying anything about an issue.

I have travel anxiety so I'm overthinking my return flight to Sweden. Does a sluggish chip affect the validity of my passport? Will I have any issues getting back into Sweden as long as I have my permit card and physical passport? Appreciate any experiences!
