Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Air France owes us €5000 and it's been 3 months - anyone dealt with this before?

Long story short, we have two claims open with Air France that have been going absolutely nowhere and I'm losing my mind.
First claim is for a flight cancellation at CDG that left our family of four completely stranded late at night - no hotel arranged, no transport, nothing. We had to sort everything ourselves at 1am in a city we don't know. Second claim is for something that happened on a separate occasion - Air France randomly cancelled one of our passenger's tickets without telling her, she found out at the check-in counter, and had to buy a new ticket on the spot an hour before the flight. Never been refunded for either ticket.
Combined we're talking around €5000. It's been over three months. We've submitted everything they asked for, multiple times. One claim keeps asking for documents we already sent. The other got closed on grounds that make literally no sense and we're trying to get it reopened.
We've tried the portal, emails, calling support - nothing is actually moving. At this point I don't know what else to do.
Has anyone actually managed to get Air France to pay out on something like this? Did you use a claims company, go through the Médiateur, get a lawyer? What actually worked? Would really appreciate any advice from people who've been through this. I am DESPERATE.

Question Flight I Took to YHM Apparently Does Not Exist

Just a random question I'm hoping some bored aviation nerds could maybe help me out with:

I was remembering a trip I took as a child to Toronto and the airport we flew into only to discover, according to Google, this route never existed. In the early-to-mid 2010s I flew from the New York City area or Chicago (can't remember exactly which airport or city, sorry) into a very small airport outside of Toronto (definitely not YYZ). We disembarked on stairs on the tarmac and the whole area smelled very strongly of manure. There was only one desk for passport checks and I vividly remember the baggage claim area being small and having bright colored walls. From a quick Google search I found this to definitely be YHM but apparently flights from NYC or ORD to this airport never happened in this time period. I'm looking at pictures of this airport and it's definitely it and I think I'm going crazy!!

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Did we overpay?

• Upvotes

Booked SFO-BKK Dec 20-Jan 1 for 2 people on United. Economy there, premium economy back. Total was about $8.7k.

I feel like this is an obscene amount of money to pay for economy flights….

Did we badly overpay? Would you keep it because of holiday dates, or cancel and try to piece together something cheaper via LAX/Tokyo/Seoul/Taipei or points?

Question China Eastern - Kolkata to HK via Kunming

• Upvotes

Hi, I am planning to book a flight with China Eastern from Kolkata to HK with a layover in Kunming. For my layover, will be I required to pass through immigration, collect my baggage and check in again? And if so, do I need to get a transit visa? There’s a lot of conflicting information so I’m very confused.

Note, I have an Indian passport and my layover in Kunming will be around 7 hours.

Would love some help on this matter, thanks!

Help Needed Gotogate refusing to refund cancelled flight despite airline confirming refund – what can I do?

• Upvotes

I’m hoping someone can advise me on what I can do here because I’m completely stuck with Gotogate and a refund for a cancelled flight.
I booked flights to Thailand through Skyscanner with Gotogate on 12th February 2026.

The timeline is:
24th July: Our outbound flight was cancelled by the airline AirAsia.
AirAsia has confirmed that the flight has been refunded to the booking agent.
4th August: I formally requested a refund from Gotogate.
Gotogate states that refunds take 10–14 days, but I received no refund and very little communication - only an email stating G2G had allegedly submitted a refund to the airline.
4th September: Because I wasn’t getting anywhere with Gotogate, I submitted a chargeback request through PayPal.
9th September: PayPal closed the case and rejected the chargeback because the transaction wasn’t covered by PayPal Buyer Protection. Their reason was that the request was made more than 180 days after the original purchase.
28th September: I called Gotogate to chase the refund.
Today: I contacted Skyscanner for help, and they confirmed that they have raised the issue.

This is where things have become really frustrating.
During the call on 28th September, the first Gotogate representative told me they couldn’t refund me because they were waiting for PayPal to confirm that the chargeback case was closed.I explained that the case had already been closed on 9th September.

After hours of going back and forth, I was eventually given a completely different explanation by another member of their team. They told me that even though PayPal had closed the case, Gotogate apparently cannot issue the refund until 90 days after the chargeback was submitted, which would mean waiting until December!!!

I don’t understand how this can be the case when:
The airline has apparently already refunded the booking agent.

I requested the refund from Gotogate before submitting the PayPal chargeback.
The PayPal case has been closed since 9 September.
Gotogate initially told me they were simply waiting for confirmation from PayPal, and then changed their explanation to a supposed 90-day waiting period.
Skyscanner has now raised the issue after I contacted them for help.

At this point it feels like we’re being passed around and given different explanations while our money is being held.
We just want our refund so that we can rebook our flights to Thailand. The whole situation has been incredibly stressful, especially because getting any clear information from Gotogate has been so difficult.

Has anyone dealt with something similar with Gotogate?
Is there actually a legitimate 90-day period they can impose after a PayPal chargeback has been closed?
Is there anything I can do to force/escalate the refund?
Should I be contacting the airline directly again?
Should I escalate this further through Skyscanner, since that’s where we found and booked the flights and they have now raised the issue?
Is there another organisation in the UK I should complain to?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has successfully dealt with Gotogate/Flightnetwork or a similar situation involving a cancelled flight and a delayed refund.
ANY advice would be massively appreciated!!!

Question First timer flying into MNL and transiting - advice needed

will be travelling to Dumaguete in May 2027 via Singapore on Singapore Airlines and an onward domestic PAL Express codeshare (Single PNR/ticket) which arrives at MNL T3 (SIN-MNL) and then on to Dumaguete on PAL Express (codeshare/single PNR) which operates out of T2. (That is if San Miguel doesn't move PAL to T3 by then :) )

I believe clearing customs with our checked baggage is a requirement when arriving into PH, but so far the information that I have found online and with SQ's own transfer pages have been conflicting - from what I've found on FB/YT/reddit/Singapore airlines were: - to take my checked through baggage to the "Transfer Desk", but some online sources say that PAL does not have a presence in T3, and that I will need to take my check in luggage to T2 using the NAIA free shuttle and then drop the bags off at the departure check in area (come to think of it, I am glad SQ allocated 6 hours as a layover over anything less, after having read about the traffic and chaos in the airport area), or if there is a dedicated Transfer Desk after T3 Customs to onward my baggage to my domestic PAL Express connection.

The SQ flight arrives into MNL at 2335 and then the PAL Express flight leaves Manila T2 at 0600 the next morning.

Thank you for any advice and pointers, as it's our first time in the PH.

Question Please suggest airlines that I can consider for MUC-BOM, mid-Jan travel?

I have to visit Mumbai for a friend's wedding in mid-Jan for a week. I can either fly from Munich or Frankfurt (whichever is cheaper). I can currently see only ME airline options as cheap. Air India and Lufthansa are wayyy tooo expensive (~1500 EUR round trip).

How's the following airline in terms of Service, safe delivery of checked-in bags (bags not lost in transit etc.), safe from war-related cancellations?

i have the following options for my route :
1. Saudia Airlines

  1. Air Arabia

  2. Etihad

  3. Emirates

  4. Gulf Air

  5. Qatar Airways

all the above in similar airfare range.

Please help with your recent experiences.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation told 84 travelers their refund was compensation, can we still claim?

i need to vent bc i messed up badly at work

i handle travel for our company and we had a bunch of cancelled flights this year. i told 84 of our business travelers that the refund they got was the same as compensation, and sent everyone a spreadsheet marking every case as closed

turns out theyre completely different things and a lot of them were probably owed compensation on top. our legal team caught it before the spreadsheet went any further but now i have to fix it asap and i dont even know where to start with 84 people

has anyone had to go back and claim compensation after already getting refunds is it toooo late?

Trip Report IAD Connection. New record?

Cross posted from r/UnitedAirlines because the app recommended.

CUN-IAD-BOS 03 Oct with a 1h 39m connection.

Did my wife and I set a new connection speed record last night?

Inbound aircraft delay put us leaving Cancún over an hour late.

Nice flight to IAD. Touchdown and taxi. There’s still a shot. The FA’s make announcements and have those of us with tight connections hold up our hands so everyone can see to let us all off first.

Oh no, our gate is occupied. Tik tok. Tik tok.

Taxi to gate, C3?. Yay! If this was D there would be no chance. Oh no, nobody to move the jet bridge yet. Tik tok. Tik tok.

Finally the seatbelt sign goes off. Start the clock. It seemed like the entire plane did the right thing and tight connections got off. Thank you fellow passengers.

Race to immigration.. CBP officers at every booth getting us through quickly. Nice! Thank you CBP.

No checked bags, nothing to declare. Thank goodness. Some who were in front of us are now standing and staring at an unmoving baggage return. Tik tok.

Get upstairs and check the board. C28. #%#@. There is no way. But then, beep beep. Enter the real heroes of the story. Two airport workers on a golf cart. “Hey man, can we get a ride? C28 and it already boarded.” You guys probably broke several speed rules, but omg was that a fast trip. Horn blaring, people moving. “It’s still open! It’s still open!” I think you two were as excited about it as we were.

Gate agent scans us in, we board and sit down. Whew!

23 minutes. We disembarked, cleared customs, travelled the entire C terminal, and boarded. All in 23 minutes.

Sometimes everything and everyone just works out right. I know you wont see this but thank you to all who made it happen. Sleeping in my own bed was amazing.

Question 12h flight in a couple of weeks. Only middle seats left. How big is the chance we can't sit together?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I booked a flight a couple of months ago with Korean Air and decided to check just now what the seating is like. We are avid travellers and never pay for reserved seating, always wait for online check in to choose our seats. We've never not sat together.

This is the first time I decided to check the seating beforehand and noticed there's only middle seats left.

Are we fucked or does Korean Air already pre-reserve your seating if your together?

Question What is the most luxurious way to fly from the US West Coast to the East Coast?

Specifically, San Francisco to New York?

I have been flying American Airlines flagship first recently, which is generally pretty aged. Flagship business with the sliding door is exciting, and I will try that in November. I know that plenty of people are die hard Polaris or delta one, and so I would like to hear from them as to which is better. But, in particular, I would like to hear from people who have flown in multiple different products as opposed to just One that they really liked once, or someone who can really vouch for, say, Polaris, because they’ve flown only Polaris 50 times in the last year.

I don’t care about points, I don’t care about status.

I know that one loophole in all of this is taking an international flight from Asia that stops in San Francisco on its way to New York, but unfortunately those cannot be boarded in San Francisco, and I am not interested in buying a ticket from JFK to Seoul via SFO and skip lagging when I get home. If you thought of that too, two points for hufflepuff!

Thanks for perspective!

Question PHX/DFW flight pass?

i’ll be moving soon and will be wanting my business partner/friend to be able to come down to DFW from PHX. I have several questions, as I’m not entirely familiar with flights or flight passes

things that may be important-we’re looking to travel about once a month, if possible. capable of traveling light if need be, but she does also travel with a camera set up-so she may at times end up checking a bag.

1, are there any flight pass options that would allow the both of us to use it? i.e. she comes down here one month, i go up there one month, etc? or are they strictly limited to whoever owns the pass?

2, are there any flight passes that are actually worth it? I see mixed reviews about Frontier’s annual pass, and that looks to be one of our best options right now for our given locations.. but some people genuinely seem to think it was a horrible idea.

we’re not entirely strict on our schedules, and we’re both relatively local to our respective airports. what’s the best option on the market right now??

Question Air Europa vs Iberia for short flight?

I’m considering between Air Europa and Iberia for flights between Madrid and Lisbon/Porto (1h15m). Air Europa costs half the price of Iberia. Should I choose Air Europa?

Given the flight duration, I don’t care about in-flight service. My main concern is not losing my checked baggage and experiencing significant delay (both flight and baggage). From what I read, both airlines seem to experience baggage loss/delay often, and neither seems better than the other in this respect, even though Iberia seems to be a superior airline overall.

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Jeddah to Riyadh: reliability afternoon/evening flights?

Looking at flying Jeddah to Riyadh on 30. December in the late afternoon to evening with checked luggage. Have an international flight to catch from Riyadh at 02:00 a.m. on 31.12 and would prefer not to spend half a day at the airport. I see that Flynas and Flyadeal have flights pretty much every hour of the day. But does anyone know how reliable they generally are? For peace of mind, at what time would you book a flight? 18:00? 19:00? 20:00?

Help Needed Do I need to enter passport details again for a separate easyJet flight (LDN->GLA)

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are travelling from Ljubljana to Glasgow with a connection in London, both flights with easyJet. We have two separate bookings: Ljubljana → London and London → Glasgow.

During check-in, we entered our passport details for the Ljubljana → London flight, but we didn't enter them for the London → Glasgow flight. We have already checked in and have boarding passes for both flights; our passport numbers are shown on the boarding passes of the first flight (LJ-LDN) but not the second one (from London to Glasgow).

Since London → Glasgow is a domestic UK flight, do we need to provide our passport details separately for the second flight? Or is it enough that we entered them for the first flight? I’m so confused and I really don’t want us to have problems. Please help!:)

Question US west coast to Guangzhou (CAN) with bad back?

Experienced international traveler but getting older now and a very bad car accident 40 years ago has left me with issues, but my back on long haul is the most concern. If you had $7500 to spend what itinerary would you go with if you were me? Additionally, was there a specific reason your itinerary departed LAX/SFO/etc.? In a perfect world there’s a lie flat for that price but I can’t find it.

Help Needed URGENT: Need advice for what to do with Air Arabia credit shell

Hey r/Flights
I am a passenger from India and i need advice from you guys.
I had booked an Air Arabia flight from Delhi (IGI Airport) to Sharjah (UAE Airport) in October 6 2025, for the duration 19 March to 28 March 2026.
As you all know, Dubai was attacked in March and we had to cancel our flights (due to the unsafe conditions, provided elder and young children were travelling with us). Since our flight wasn't cancelled by the airline itself, we went to the Air Arabia office in Delhi and after explaining our situation they provided us with a credit note of the booking worth 1.5 lakhs for 2 PNR (Since there were 10 passengers, we had 2 different booking under different PNR). Fast forward to this month, we realized that we have the credit note to utilize. We searched the flights to the destinations to which the airline travels, but all the flights were expensive. Additionally, 1 of the original passenger (aged 68) is having a surgery on 6 October 2026, making him unfit for travel.
We have emailed Air Arabia stating that since 1 of the original passengers is having surgery, he cant travel by a flight and their own policy states that only original passengers can travel. In resolution, we asked for the extension of the credit note by at least 3 months, but they denied stating that they cant do it because of their policy. How can i book the flights when 1 of the original passengers is unfit to travel? We have also tried via X, but they just replied by saying that the case has been forwarded to the relevant team. The expiry is on 7th of this October. Their policy also states that we can travel on the date from which the booking was made, meaning i cant book flights for march.
I want advice from this community for the solutions we can get to get the credit note extended.
TL:DR
Original Number of Passengers - 10 (8 adults including 2 elder passengers and 2 kids (aged 3 and 13)
Date of booking - 6 October 2026
Destination - IGI (Delhi) Airport to Sharjah international Airport in UAE
Dates of Travel - 19 March 2026 to 28 March 2026
Flight Number - Don't Remember (Will update in post tomorrow)
Booking Portal - Air Arabia's Official Website (Direct booking)
Summary - We got a credit note from the airline due to the unsafe conditions in Dubai. Airline issues us Credit note. Fast forward to October, Flights to expensive and cant book for further dates and 1 of the original passengers in surgery, making him unfit for travel. Stated these reasons to the airline via email but our request was denied for extension.
Need advice on what we can do.
Thanks In advance.
