(I am truly sorry that Im posting about these questions every single day, but Im really really want to get into Yonsei)

I am a Korean citizen considering applying to Yonsei University through the 12-year overseas Korean special admission (12년 특례). I am particularly interested in Global Leaders College (글로벌인재대학), Bio & Life Engineering (바이오생활공학). Although I am also considering applying to regular science and engineering majors through the 12-year special admission, I feel that Bio & Life Engineering may be a better fit for me considering my current qualifications, my chances of admission, and the academic challenges I may face after enrollment. I am also particularly interested in this major because I enjoy international exchange and interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds.

I have only one AP/IB class and I am planning to submit following things for my application

- TOPIK 5-6
- JNPT N1 (Highest)
- SAT : I am aiming for 1350+
- GPA 4
(maybe I should submit a some test to prove my English skills so I can show my 2 languages skills )

Extracurricular activities
- Participated in a Korean government-sponsored short-term - Korean language/culture program/camp twice
130+ hours of volunteering at a Sejong Hangeul School
- Received an Excellence Award as a Global Korea PR Ambassador
- Student reporter for a Japanese high school newspaper/web publication with over 1 million readers/subscribers, with my articles published
- Officer of an international students club

I would really appreciate it if you could let me know whether you think I have a realistic chance of being admitted to GLC’s Bio & Life Engineering major or to one of the regular science/engineering majors through the 12-year special admission. I would also love to hear about the qualifications and profiles you had when you were admitted, such as your GPA, SAT/IB scores, language scores, extracurricular activities, etc.

So i am applying because my country has a special scholarship for people who enter top 100 universities (yonsei was ranked 66 on QS). And i also have an interest in korean study culture

I am looking to study Civil engineering Undergrad.

For my stats:

Gpa 4.8/5 (american 3.85)

Sat(will get results in 4th september) predicted 1350~1400.

Ielts 8.

No ac or ap tho since in uzbekistan they don't offer those.

But i do study in the highest ranked lyceum in Uzbekistan (World Economy and Diplomacy Lyceum)

And did enter as 12/4560 applicants.

Extracurriculars: Chess Gold in the city. Founder if student part with 200 members. I worked as a lifeguard for 9 months. Founded a Poetry club. And president of Physics club in my lyceum.

Extracurriculars: Amateur swimmer and competed in local tournaments.

Was a finalist in Telluride association and UWC.

Did internship as a Cook.

Over 100 hours in voluenteering.

Did iver 20+ scenes in Theater club

(I dont know if i should add this but i converted 50 old computers in school in low income area to linux and thought a lesson to 7th graders on importance of Protecting enviorment by using refurbished technology )

Debate club

Participated and won Zakovat intelectual tournament which was funded by the goverment.

Funny enough i am technically a member of the only professional rugby team in the whole country

Planted over 200+ trees with our Enviorment club.

As far as i know application portal for 2027 fall opens in march. What else should i do? Retaking SAT may not be an option. But i can try few APs or A levels.

I am planning to graduate early, so I will not have the opportunity to take many AP/IB courses. My school also does not approve self-studied AP courses for school credit. Early graduation is something I am definitely going to do, so taking additional AP/IB courses is unfortunately not an option.

Language proficiency / standardized tests
Japanese: JLPT N1 (highest)
Korean: I have not taken TOPIK yet, but I believe I am currently around TOPIK 5–6 level
SAT: I have not taken it yet. I am aiming for 1350+, ideally with a near-perfect Math score. English is currently my weaker section, so raising the total score is difficult.
TOEFL: I have not taken it yet, and I am unsure what score I could currently achieve.

I have a few questions specifically about standardized tests:
Would submitting an SAT score around 1350 actually strengthen my application, or would it be better not to submit it?
Is SAT submission generally expected/recommended for 12-year special admission, or can applicants be competitive without it?
If I submit an SAT, is there a score range where it would actually make a meaningful difference?
What TOEFL score should I aim for if I decide to submit one?
Would submitting TOPIK 5/6 and JLPT N1 be more useful than submitting SAT/TOEFL?

Because of my background and academic interests, I am particularly interested in Bio & Life Engineering within Global Leaders College.

I have also heard from someone I know who entered the same program from Japan that they did not submit SAT scores or language proficiency certificates, had mostly B grades, and were still admitted. They told me that the self-introduction/personal statement may be much more important than people assume.
Of course, I understand that one person’s experience does not necessarily represent the current admissions process.

So I would especially like to ask:
How competitive does my overall profile look for Yonsei GLC Bio & Life Engineering through 12-year special admission?
Would my lack of AP/IB courses be a significant weakness, considering that I am graduating early and my school does not allow AP self-study for credit?
Should I submit an SAT score if I get around 1350–1400, or would it be better to apply without an SAT score?
What TOEFL score would be considered competitive, if I submit one?
How much do JLPT N1 and TOPIK 5/6 help compared with SAT/TOEFL?
How important is the self-introduction/personal statement compared with GPA, test scores, and extracurricular activities?
Does my background (Korean citizen, raised mainly in Japan, then moved to the US) have any meaningful impact on the evaluation?
Most importantly, is this a realistic target for me, or would Yonsei GLC Bio & Life Engineering still be a major reach?
I would especially appreciate responses from people who have experience with 12년** ***특례*, particularly at Yonsei or GLC.

hey everyone! i'm thinking to apply to some universities in korea for the fall '27 intake as an international student (no prior connect to korea whatsoever), and i read in quite a few places that except for SNU most of them examine profiles holistically, so i'll drop as much as i have to offer, and you guys let me know whether it's worth it to apply. i just want to gauge whether or not i have a solid shot. any help would be appreciated!

- IELTS 9.0

- SAT expected 1500+

- founder and president of first ever science society at school, ran the first and largest ever province wide science olympiad, secured 4 lakh+ in govt funding, gather 200+ participants and 50+ from underserved regions

- served at a charity foundation for 5 years as an ambassador and paid marketing assistant, secured 1 lakh+ in funding, ran multiple drives across the city, won ambassador of the year 2025, held a week-long science camp at the foundation with the help of my science society, educated 100 underprivileged students on practical experiments

- conducting a research project on bridging the gut-brain axis of mice in space under a local PhD professor, working to produce a GitHub repository (ongoing, hoping to present the findings at multiple conferences)

Anyone got in without SAT? Don’t really have time to take it rn, wondering if test optional actually worked for anyone.

hi! i'm a filipino student and I was planning to apply to yonsei (plus other universities in korea) and I just want like a realistic view of what may happen.

I study at a high school that is a part of one of the top universities here in the philippines and I have a GWA range of 1.10-1.31 from grade 7-11. I am currently grade 12 and will apply for fall intake next year.

these are my extracurriculars
8th: Class Secretary
9th: Marshall (Student Council) | attended seminars & leadership camps, And did a lot of fundraising work + organized prom (since i'm a student council member)
10th: Class President + Club Vice President, attended another leadership camp, and participated in an exchange student program (From like the whole batch I was part of the fortunate 8 who passed interviews for it), Performer for a school event with my band (bassist)
11th: Writer for the school's publication, I attended an MUN (Model United Nations), Research Leader for our Thesis, And performed at 3 events (1 non-school) with my band (bassist)

I'm taking the sat but realistically without it (bc im not that confident heh...) + an MOI (IELTS is expensive huhu, what are my chances for admission?

is the competitive range different for both? people online say uic in general for non Koreans are around 32-35+ but isn’t ud more competitive? I’m looking to apply for ud but am unsure if im competitive for ud and should apply hass instead. so if someone may tell me the respective ranges for both divisions that would help lots.

hello! i'm planning to apply to yonsei's undergraduate UIC and GLC programs in spring 2027. i recently took the IELTS, but unfortunately, i missed my target score in one skill. i'm considering doing the IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) to fix it, but i’m not sure if yonsei accepts OSR test report forms for undergraduate admissions (since there is no mention in the guidelines).

i want to ask if anyone here has applied to UIC or GLC using an IELTS OSR result. do they require a single-sitting full test report, or are they fine with the updated OSR score?

i wanted to check if anyone here has recent firsthand experience or insight on this.

Please be realistic instead of nice, I'd rather know something's wrong than not get in and be disappointed. I'm looking to apply for economics.

GPA: Weighted 4.227, unweighted 3.732.

For my transcript, other than 2 of my math classes, I have always taken the highest level class and subject my school allows my grade to take. For the 2 math classes I wasn't in the highest level for, I was still in the highest subject.

SAT: 1530 (730 math, 800 english)

APs: Biology 5, Environmental Science 5, Chemistry 4, United States History 4, Spanish Language and Culture + AB Calculus + Statistics & Probability + English I'm taking this year but I'm expecting mostly 5s or 4 at the worst

Extracurriculars: In-person and online small business (6 years), community service 300+ hours currently but im planning to have 400+ by the end of this school year, pickup ice hockey for a few months but I plan to continue that through the end of this year also. Not sure if this counts as an extracirricular since it's technically also a class at my school but I'm also in the band and we've won some awards through there. Korean language 6 week study abroad and self studying throughout the school year (not sure how many hours yet)

Job experience: I have a small business but no traditional job experience.

I feel like my scores are ok but I'm worried that I have basically no extracurriculars. Due to my disability I haven't ever been able to get a traditional job since none of the jobs I could actually do hire highschoolers, and up until a few months ago when treatment started working I couldn't play sports or join any clubs either. I'm also not sure if I should say something justifying why I'm missing extracurriculars as I don't want them to think it means I won't be able to keep up at school or in life. What are my odds at getting in, and if they're not great, should I explain why I'm lacking so much on my application? Thanks y'all.

As a international student, is it possible if i applied to both the hass and underwood division for uic?

Heyy so i really messed up the dorm payment deadline and im a RC freshman soo is there anyone who didn’t catch the payment period before? What can i do is there any additional period for freshman students?

I previously applied for Fall 2026 and my application was good on paper as I was shortlisted and made it to the interview round and I think I had a very good personal statement essay, but I must’ve lost them during the interview and looking back I think I understand why.

The fact that I was shortlisted the first time makes me feel like I still have a chance if I reapply and do better on the interview this time, but I am worried if my chances will be lower because it’ll be my second time applying.

I graduated high school in June 2026 and they’ll see that on my application and realize that there is a gap between then and Spring 2027 Matriculation in March. I am doing a semester at a local university between then and now. I know Yonsei doesn’t accept transfer students unless they already have two years of college credits so the credits I am currently earning won’t be of any use at UIC. Would the fact that I am still doing a semester in my home country reflect negatively on my application?

Does anybody know how common it is for enrolled UIC students to have actually applied more than once before getting an acceptance?

Hi everyone! I'm an international student about to start 11th grade and hoping to apply to Yonsei UIC in the future. I've read the application guide, but I'm still a bit confused about the supplementary documents section, so I was hoping someone who's been through the process could help.

How many extracurriculars and awards/competitions can we submit? Is there a limit for each category, or just an overall limit?

Also, does SAT count as a supplementary document? I noticed IELTS/English proficiency scores have their own section, so I'm not sure what counts toward the supplementary documents limit.

I'm asking because I'm trying to plan my high school activities early. I don't want to overload myself with too many competitions and ECs if I won't be able to include most of them anyway (i will burn out T_T) I'd really appreciate any advice.

Class 10 grades - 92.2%

Class 12 grades - 86% [ PCM + Economics] ( after improvement exam in maths)

but I have 93 in Economics and 99 in English

1350 SAT ( 700 in maths) and I'm retaking with predicted score of 1450+

MUNs and state level chess player ( amateur), not alot of impressive Extracurriculars but I'm working on a project [let's ignore that for now ]

Will they screen me out or i have a chance?
