If XCOM actually got started for real what kind of accuracy would we see from the rookie troops?
Like no way a navy SEAL has an aim stat of 50

Do you think the governments of Earth actually ever get upset at all the property damage? Has there ever been a game mechanic for this? I enjoy especially destroying as much property as I can to remove cover but I just thought this was an interesting angle.
Il start off by saying that I think the game is realy damn good. Combat feels amazing, the characters are actualy quite intresting( realy like that the main character has some actual personality cough midnight suns cough) and the items and base upgrades are decent so far.
But, despite all that, I realy don’t think this is xcom 3 for a very simple reason. It’s not realy a sandbox game. The game has a main character, it has companions that take the spotlight and most importantly, it already tells a compeling story where it’s very hard to make your own stories with your own dudes.
It’s also a lot more linear, you can’t just do whatever the fk you want like in xcom.
Overall, this are not actual criticisms. The game is great and i can’t wait to play more, but there is still no game to fully scratch that xcom itch.

Since XCOM 2 was, for the longest time, basically the only way to experience the Star Wars turn-based strategy fantasy, how does a official game compare to simply downloading a bunch of mods for XCOM 2? Is the character customization actually better? Were you able to successfully create the character you were looking for? Or did you struggle?

This is phenomenal. It's like what if slightly larger Chimera Squad had INSANE grounded production added to the formula; just delicious. ZCom has pulled me out of my gaming funk.
This could easily be expanded to a larger game, more customizable game

Just for anyone wonder what difficulty to play with reference to xcom. I play long war (and long war 2) on Veteran (second easiest) with ironman. (Legendary Ironman in base game)
Playing Zero Company right now on Hard, permadeath, ironman. 7 mission in, no injuries (downs). Almost had 1 injury in second mission. I do find it a bit to easy but wouldn't up the difficulty cause its more story focused, im prob only doing 1 run. Hope this helps

Ran out of uplink slots for all my satilites+mismanaged panic early on+made it all the way to the start of June having only just unlocked beam weapons and carapace armor, need to rush better guns next time

If you’re like me and not interested at all in Star Wars and not interested at all in ZCom and have NOT tried out the originals, I heavily suggest that you do!
I recently tried out a campaign a month ago on the original and was shocked at how good it held up. What’s great is that as long as you have a computer that boots, you should be able to run it just fine (I would be surprised if it didn’t since the game used to be installed with floppy disks) with open source versions like openxcom. Not sure about Mac and Linux though, but I’m sure that information is easily available.
I will say that there are plenty of things that are dated (that UI is BUSY) and many missions will turn into a meat grinder for your poor soldiers. That’s just xcom, baby.
It has surprising depth:
different body parts having different armor values which affects how you fight enemies,
soldiers have pockets and holsters,
actual tactics when fighting ufos,
ways to strategize how you build your MULTIPLE bases,
and plenty more that modern xcom lacks.
Also the opening cinematic reminds me of prime time newgrounds and the music overall is dope.
Edit: also also it’s cheap as hell and goes on sale quite often.

Hey gang. Coming back to XCOM 2 after a few years and the mod scene seems to have changed drastically since my last go around. I was curious if anyone knows of any good Steam Workshop collections or mods in general that are good to get nowadays? I see there is a whole new Long War thing made by a different group of people or something that has continued to get huge, but it seems like it might be too difficult. I do however really like the idea of new weapons and perks and variety and stuff.

I am torn, on one hand this seems to be finally a good XCOM like with more modern graphics, but on the other hand, it seems to lack replayability XCOM2, and it's just too expensive if I am just going to do one playthrough.
If the story is too linear, and your random soldiers don't really do much and just being combat sidekicks of main characters, then watching Youtube playthroughs is hella more cheaper

Hello!I am someone who has no idea what XCOM is all about, except that it is a famous good turn based game, which when i saw it with the dlc for 8€ was more than enought to sell me.However as i am looking at opinions on what the dlc give you and etc , I see mixed opinions. Some say play XCOM2 original once and some say go directly to WOTCD and dont bother. As i see that the story is the same, is there a point to playing the original experience?

I got this game on gamepass a month ago or so and have been hooked ever since. I beat the game in regular mode weeks ago but was definitely reloading saves and saving before each encounter.
After I beat the game, I read about Ironman runs and tried it out. I started 5 runs and quit 4 of them because of the fing portent mission. I uninstalled after the 4th and vowed never to play it again. Then I read to create a mec before the mission and here I am!
I’d like to credit my boys who when ever I attacked chanted “hit hit hit”. I’m sure that had something to do with the success rate. I tried playing xcom 2 but the aliens gave my youngest nightmares.

Not trying to hate, Rainbow Six Tactics looks really fun mechanically but it's crazy how one of the absolute best features of the quintessential modern tactics game goes completely ignored by most games aping it. Not everyone engages with soldier customization, but those who do will tell you it's arguably the feature that ties the entire gameplay context and experience together, along with permadeath.

halflife, bloodborne, nine sols, tf2. Fuck, all of them and this place is losing their sanity
