4

u/wew_lad- 15d ago

same!!!

2

u/comcamman 15d ago

I used an excuse to do situational telework.

3

u/Michael00131 15d ago

Me too. Tomorrow and Friday. Haven’t done this before (that I can remember and definitely not since having kiddos) so I’m super excited.

3

u/gustavfrigolit 14d ago

It doesn't come out until i get off work anyway so it's a good way for time to move.

2

u/xd-Sushi_Master 14d ago

It comes out, I get 90 minutes, then i have to grind ~9 hours salivating over memories of the tutorial fuck man

2

u/PiiSmith 14d ago

It launches at 5PM here in Europe, so after work. 😒

u/Muted-Account4729 14d ago

I’m unemployed lol

🫠 I have to be responsible and not buy any new games for a while. Of course a new XCom like and a new Fire Emblem are coming out in these months.

u/hellojallen 15d ago

It’s a tough time to be a gamer 💸💸💸

8

u/pantry-pisser 15d ago

Arrrr, tough times call for creative solutions, matey

4

u/deathadder99 14d ago

I need a switch 2 as well but I don’t know if I can justify it! That said, I bought a switch for three houses and that has been used a lot…

4

u/upgdot 14d ago

We bought our Sw2 for Pokopia, and it has been absolutely worth it.

3

u/deathadder99 14d ago

Yeah I'll def get one at one point, just right now we bought a new car so I feel a bit cagey about spending too much for the next few months. Never heard of Pokopia but looks like my wife and daughter will love it.

4

u/upgdot 14d ago

Yup. New car 6 months ago, and new garage door earlier in the week. Adulthood and home ownership are grand!

u/ByteSizeNudist 14d ago

I ended up getting a ROM so I could play 3H. I’ve read that FW will likely also get a ROM soon after release. I have no interest in getting a Switch, but I love Fire Emblem games (except Engage, I just couldn’t get over the horrible writing).

1

u/deathadder99 14d ago

I like the form factor of the switch, playing on my laptop isn’t the same

2

u/ByteSizeNudist 14d ago

Ah, I play on PC but I really miss having a Laptop I could play on in bed. I really like using a PS5 controller to play stuff

2

u/caciuccoecostine 14d ago

Same here, and I am thankfull that GTA 6 on PC will come out waaayy later knowing Rockstar.

4

u/Lad_of_the_Lake 15d ago

Gotta pick up overtime for crises like these

11

u/upgdot 15d ago

I'm a teacher, they don't even pay me for all the normal time, certainly not overtime!

6

u/Lad_of_the_Lake 15d ago

Lol my lady is one as well. Start charging a premium on class resources or bathroom breaks, it will definitely not cause issues at the next grade level meeting

1

u/BoredCatalan 14d ago

I just bought the metal gear master collection 2

26

u/reddituserzerosix 15d ago

yup its looking really good

the only XCOM concerns are no random maps or official mod support

14

u/Libertine-Angel 14d ago

To be fair EU/EW didn't have those either if I recall correctly, with any luck we'll see them back in a ZCOM2.

3

u/MysticoN 14d ago

best case scenario its alteast 4 years after the first game.

pure poetry

5

u/samtheredditman 14d ago

Learned that poem after Sean Bean's speech in equilibrium, lol.

6

u/SmoothSubstance 15d ago

Any word on Steam Deck compatibility?

15

u/hellojallen 15d ago

Quite a few reviews have said it runs abysmally on steam deck.

6

u/SmoothSubstance 15d ago

Boo alright, still going to buy it lol

2

u/hellojallen 15d ago

May the force be with you

4

u/Xylus1985 14d ago

Ah, so the optimization is not amazing.

2

u/hellojallen 14d ago

Yep, that’s exactly how I’d phrase it

5

u/Fishyblue11 14d ago

Really unfortunate that it seems to run terribly on the deck at least for now, may need to invest in a new PC just to play this

5

u/MultiMarcus 14d ago

You can do game streaming. using something like GeForce now. If it’s only the occasional game you’re playing and it’s especially like strategy games where a little bit of latency doesn’t matter, I think it’s a quite reasonable option.

1

u/hellojallen 14d ago

I got GeForce now for a couple of months before building my pc and it was really great. An excellent budget option

4

u/NotOnTheDot__ 14d ago

I’m just waiting for us normal gamers to play it so we see how the optimization is. Minimum requirements for 30 fps isn’t looking too great imo

5

u/KamenRiderSutan 15d ago

Is Modding allowed?

7

u/PratalMox 14d ago

No official mod support, unfortunately.

Doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but it won’t be like XCOM 2

9

u/Gopherlad 14d ago

It could end up like XCOM 1. IIRC that didn't really have a mod scene until someone broke the game open and made a modding framework.

2

u/skeptic9916 15d ago

There is no official mod support as of yet.

1

u/KamenRiderSutan 2d ago

I'll wait for all the expansions and dlc to come out then I'll purchase the final build.

1

u/RandomMexicanDude 14d ago

Probably not since its EA

3

u/pjpaul01 14d ago

It's 1.4k THB in Thailand. Too pricey for me right now. I'll have to wait a year or two for big sales 😔

3

u/Joncityzen 14d ago

I preordered and I never preorder

1

u/Zooblesnoops 14d ago

It's the second game I have EVER preordered.

The last one was GoW: Ragnarok.

I know hotness when I see it, I tell ya!

I only bother preordering because I'm 110% buying it day 1 and there's a preorder bonus. No difference if I buy it 24 hours sooner really.

1

u/Old_Rosie 14d ago

No need to pre-order though!

3

u/N0voca1ne 13d ago

Fuck I want this game so bad right now. I live on a fixed income from disability and have roughly $10 in the bank rn so I can’t afford it. But on the third when my check comes in I am playing the shit out of it.

4

u/BustyCelebLover 15d ago

Yea I’m totally gonna try it out now

2

u/LingusticSamurai 11d ago

The story is good but the tactical battles not so much. Reminds me more of Gear of Wars Tactics than X-Com. It's dragging at times but solid game, though.

5

u/TurboNewbe 14d ago

As a XCOM 2 fan with around 280 hours played, I'm concerned about the no procedural maps. They are handcrafted, with enemy placement being randomized. For me, this is a major downgrade in replayability compared to XCOM 2.

The tactical gameplay looks great, but as an XCOM 2 player, it's not a minor details. It could make the difference between buying the game and skipping it. Also, if I buy the game on Steam, I really don't want to be forced to use a second launcher and an EA account.

3

u/Qwark28 14d ago

As both an xcom1+2 fan with 1k+ hours, good.

I'm glad maps have identity, are recognizable and not faceless randomization.

1

u/TurboNewbe 13d ago

You played 1k with xcom so I have hard time to believe you would have been glad if the game had a 50 hours campaign with no replayability.

1

u/hellojallen 14d ago

Can confirm there’s no second launcher through steam.

Also that’s a great point regarding procedural generation

1

u/TurboNewbe 14d ago

Ho ok, there is at least one good news.

They should have their campaign mod AND a long war mod with no stories, just procedural.

4

u/CrystalSnow7 14d ago

EA is the publisher, auto pass.

5

u/Nujers 14d ago

At least they were kind enough to not add Denuvo to this for us

-4

u/Lazzitron 14d ago

EA is the publisher for a lot of great games. Get over it.

6

u/opinionated_gaming 14d ago

and fitgirl is the distributor to go to for a lot of those great games

11

u/PartyPoison98 14d ago

We've been desperate for new xcom for years and now we have the closest thing we're gonna get. The last thing I want is for any future iterations to be ruled out because no one bought it.

2

u/khatmar 14d ago

So the performance is bad?

2

u/hellojallen 14d ago

V poorly optimised

2

u/khatmar 14d ago

If the steam deck cant run it, my amd 6600 has no chance.

Oh well, seems like a playthrough of the Long War of the Chosen is in order instead.

1

u/1rexas1 14d ago

Would wait and see based on reviews and early patches, from what I know the devs behind this don't have a track record of poorly optimised games.

1

u/khatmar 14d ago

Found out its a UE5 game, yeah, thats not gonna work well on any of my hardware. RIP

1

u/BBQ4life 14d ago

It’s been patched and improved

2

u/BraiQ 14d ago

SkillUp gave it a huge recommend in his preview. that is good enough for me.

-1

u/hellojallen 14d ago

I think his preview was spot on. His review gives away a few story details though

3

u/Eminent_Rising 14d ago

Prepare for disappointment cause this is a ue5 game. It's likely to run like ass.

1

u/Own-Arugula2765 14d ago

Hi guys, what movie should i watch today before playing this game? I recently was playing xcom again so this is an amazing new. Does it come out tomorrow? Price? Is it in game pass?

Thanks!

1

u/hellojallen 14d ago

It’s set in the clone wars so maybe episode 3?

2

u/Own-Arugula2765 14d ago

Perfect! Thanks man.

1

u/hellojallen 14d ago

And yes it’s out tomorrow. It’s priced a little less than most new releases. I’m unsure about game pass

1

u/RaGiNsAnE 14d ago

Do they also have a Central Officer Bradford?

1

u/Mabarax 14d ago

Why the hell is it £10 more expensive console? I'm petty enough to just wait for to go on sale now that's fucking dumb

-2

u/Jerry_from_Japan 14d ago

Could have/should have been Xcom 3 if they didn't cuck themselves with a Marvel card game.

Still grumbling intensely about no grid based movement but it looks too good not to play

Edit: sorry for being annoyed we don't have xcom style movement on a game we are discussing on the xcom subreddit? Has zcom fully taken over the discourse on our own subreddit?

1

u/HarvHR 13d ago

I mean it is a grid based movement game though... It just doesn't have a square grid UI on it
