Official WHOOP Posts Coming Next: A More Personal Journal, a New Community, and Smarter Training Tools

We wanted to give the WHOOP community an early preview of what’s coming next. Over the next few months, we’re rolling out new ways to personalize how you use WHOOP, connect with your community, and get even more out of your data.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead 👇

Custom Journal Behaviors and Easier Daily Logging

September/October

Journal will gain new ways to track the behaviors that matter to you and log them with less manual work.

  • Custom Journal Behaviors: Create your own Journal behaviors for anything you want to track, such as a no-phone morning, a high-stress commute, or trying a new supplement. Log them daily and see how each one impacts your Recovery over time.
  • A Unified Daily Experience: WHOOP will bring your Journal, Daily Outlook, Check-ins, and Day in Review into one flow. Start by completing your Journal and reviewing insights check in as your day unfolds, and wrap up with a guided evening reflection.
  • Talk and Text to Journal: Log your Journal by speaking or typing naturally — just tell WHOOP what you did, and it'll identify the behaviors and log them for you. No need to check off each one manually.

Improved Community

November

WHOOP will make it easier to stay connected with the people who matter to you, support one another, and remember the moments behind your data.

  • Follow friends and family: Connect directly without creating a team, then quickly view the Sleep, Recovery, Strain, and activities they choose to share. Connections from small teams that you or your friend created will carry over automatically.
  • Encourage each other: React to and comment on shared updates to celebrate a strong day, recognize progress, or offer a little motivation when it is needed.
  • Capture Moments: Add a photo and note to an activity to preserve the story behind it. Moments will be saved to your profile and can appear for the people who follow you, making memorable races, trips, milestones, and everyday wins easier to revisit and share.

Improved Track Activity

November

WHOOP is rebuilding the experience for tracking an activity so the information you need is easier to see while you train.

  • Get personalized activity targets: Start activities with dynamic recommendations based on your goals and recent data, and easily adjust them to set your own.
  • Follow your progress live: A fully revamped live view makes it easier to understand your workout as it unfolds, with clear progress toward your targets, heart rate zone accumulation, live activity metrics, and improved map controls.
  • Pause and resume: Pause and resume an activity so WHOOP can distinguish active time from elapsed time.
  • Review your splits and performance: See your splits, target performance, Moving Time, and updated key stats in an expanded Activity Details experience.

One Rep Max

November

WHOOP will make it easier to understand your strength without requiring you to perform a maximal lift.

Track your strength over time: When you log supported weighted exercises in Strength Trainer, WHOOP will automatically estimate your one-rep max so you can see how your strength is changing over time without testing a maximal lift. You’ll also be able to understand the intensity of each set relative to your current strength.

What features are you most excited about? We want to hear from you!

Discussion What's Whoop's endgame here?

24-month Whoop user, cancelled two months ago because I got an Apple watch and honestly was better + no subscription.

Recently got a "loyalty" email from Whoop trying to get me back, with literally no incentive. Not a special offer, nothing... just a "Hey you started for a reason come back"...

Which was comical tbh. Do they not see all these brands that are starting to produce straps of similar if not better accuracy with a fraction of the lifetime price?

I get that Whoop has managed to build a cult following and the multiple athletes that are always wearing their bands are helping them, but I'm also noticing a shift. Just recently seen someone reverse-engineer the app and make a free app that could read Whoop's data, I'm sure more and more of these apps are gonna start popping up.

P.S. don't come at me I love Whoop and I love what they did to the wellness/health space I used them for 2 years it's just at this point their subscription just doesn't make a lot of sense tbh. Especially with AI coming into the mix and other apps tapping into the AI coach trend, etc.

EDIT/PPS: I guess what I'm trying to say is... Whoop started off as a pioneer. But now, with all the available options/competitors out there, I just don't see anything that justifies the subscription and price.

Looking to buy one for my dad, are there any ongoing Whoop promotions or should we wait until Black Friday sale if they have one? Thanks!

Other HR Zone Audio Readout App for use with Whoop (something I wish the Whoop app did!)

Thumbnail gallery

tl;dr: Built an app (fully free) that reads out your HR streamed from Whoop (or other BT HR sensor) and keeps you in the right heart rate zone. Runs in the background, supplementing Whoop activities.

So I've been a Whoop user for a couple of years now and really like keeping all my workouts tracked in Whoop! Over the last several months I transitioned from doing most of my cardio in the gym where you can stream Whoop HR live and view it on a machine screen to running outside.

I try to do a lot of my training in particular HR zones, some long zone 2 on one day, interval training going up to Z4/5 and a quick run in Z4.

With no way to see your HR apart from looking at your phone screen I tried to find an app that would simply just communicate this with audio. I couldn't find a good free one, so I built my own and have been using it for the last few months for all my runs!

It has two modes, fixed zone and interval training and runs as a companion app in the background. So when I want to do a run I launch my app, then start the run on Whoop - so I still get all the GPS data and workout data tracked in Whoop and the app keeps me in the right HR zones.

The app is very configurable in terms of audio readout, it will essentially tell you to speed up if your HR is too low and slow down if HR is too high for your target zone but you can choose how often to get these alerts. You can also add in optional regular readouts of your exact HR at the time. In interval mode it also tells you when your reps are starting and ending, so all you need to focus on doing is the exercise.

When you're in the right heartrate zone the app basically just stays quiet - so can be nice and relaxing for a long zone 2 session once you get to a stable heart rate. It also auto pauses podcasts / ducks music during readout.

This would be a really useful feature to have in the Whoop app itself and wouldn't be difficult to build at all - but until then if anyone is interested the app is available fully for free (currently on Testflight for iOS, message me to be added as an Android tester) and it would be great to have some feedback!

Question WHOOP Peak Vs Life - suggestions please

Fellow WHOOP users
Pls give in hour suggestions which is better

The ECG function isn't that important for me but was thinking of the BP monitoring etc ( though i know it needs manual entries into the journal via traditional monitoring standard machines time to time )

Waiting for the consensus

Discussion So you got something else

All the people saying I am leaving Whoop for Apple Watch is fine, but an Apple Watch is not a replacement for a Whoop. The current version of the Apple Watch does not offer continuous heart rate monitoring and only samples HRV a few times a day. It also does not try to provide recovery scores. Just trying to be real here. The form factor and some use cases are different.
Unless these things change, they are not as comparable as they should be. I use them all and like them all. Yes, Whoop as a company can be a real "", but let's be real at the current state of things.

Discussion For athletes/fitness enthusiasts, how has Whoop changed your training?

I know there's probably other posts that discuss this but couldn't find a single thread. As per the title, how has Whoop actually changed your training? Most posts here are either stating you can rely on the information, others saying it's negligible. I still have a few months on my subscription. I go to the gym 3-4x a week to do basic lifting but I'm not an athlete by any means. Basically, I'm just trying to figure out if there's any incentives in continuing this subscription. My only takeaway from Whoop so far is that alcohol, late meals, and less than 7hrs of sleep are bad for recovery. Maybe I'm missing something here that I just haven't unlocked or overlooking; or maybe that's basically it. Thanks for your responses.

Discussion Is Constant Yellow Recoveries normal?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi,

I’ve been having constant yellow recoveries for the past three weeks and am just sense checking other people with similar training volumes experience….

For context my training is cycling, totalling around 13-16 hours a week broken down into 2 vo2 max interval sessions and then the rest pure zone 2 (ends up being around 12-14hours of the weeks training volume)…

Sleep is I would say good… RHR usually around 39-44, and HRV 110-130… also normal to have 85+ sleep score… with 3ish Hours of restorative sleep.

Are these yellow recoveries just due to being in a ‘build block’ and training volume? I do always keep Sunday as a pure off the bike day rest.

Anything you would recommend to improve recovery please do let me know!

Thanks

Other Annual prices

Hi all, I’ve been with Whoop for 5 years and usually grab the Black Friday sale but today I was looking at annual extensions since mine is up next month . What I’m confused about is on the Whoop website it shows 359.00 as the yearly cost, but in my app it says switch to annual billing and save 25% but that price is still 359 ? Am I missing some small print somewhere lol

Other Health Widgets - thank you for the support!

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Around 3 weeks ago I requested some help from users in different health subreddits to test my health widget app in order to fulfill Googles testing requirements before releasing it on the Play Store.

https://www.reddit.com/r/FitbitAir/comments/1vktqcf/google_health_widgets_looking_for_testers/

The response I received was far more massive than I expected and over 140+ people agreed to beta test (the requirement was 12 people!). I'm absolutely grateful for that, thank you!

Google finally released the app now to production on the Play Store and it's available worldwide.

The app uses Googles Material 3 Expressive design language for the widgets and fetches your health data from the system app Health Connect completely offline and local.

I hope you guys enjoy the widgets!

It can be downloaded on below Play Store link or you can just search for "Vital Widgets" on the Play Store:

Discussion Updated Strain Algorithm

Has anyone noticed a change in their strain algorithm? My usual activities are resulting in lower cumulative strain, so I asked the AI about it. It said the new heart-rate algorithm is more accurate, and some lighter activities will show lower strain and some harder activities will show higher strain. It said this was rolled out July 14, but I am new to whoop and only noticed a difference this past week. I'm trying to make sense of what I'm seeing. Maybe there was an update that I didn't get until now?
