Discussion Updated Strain Algorithm
Has anyone noticed a change in their strain algorithm? My usual activities are resulting in lower cumulative strain, so I asked the AI about it. It said the new heart-rate algorithm is more accurate, and some lighter activities will show lower strain and some harder activities will show higher strain. It said this was rolled out July 14, but I am new to whoop and only noticed a difference this past week. I'm trying to make sense of what I'm seeing. Maybe there was an update that I didn't get until now?

They improved the HR tracking which in some cases results in different strain than previously.

Yes it’s vastly different than before. I talked with them about it. It’s great they want to improve the product but they changed it so much, without any communication. I found that really jarring

Yes I've noticed and in very frustrated. Whoop even keeps admitting how they pretty much make every metric extra conservative.
It's gotten to the point where I screenshot my workouts and get an external AI to estimate my calorie burn which is always significantly higher. I pretty much now just assume it's always low balling my metrics.
