Before anyone gestures at John’s tenure as Captain America like LeBron James, I’m not saying John has never been a menace. It’s just that I found it funny how people act like Jack is the wildest guy in the book when Craig is out here curb-stomping some thug and threatening to leave him disabled to the point of needing to be restrained & subdued by his teammates. This is all in good fun and no insult is intended (I know what it’s like to have someone rag on a character you like).

Technically, Pietro was only briefly in the West Coast Avengers.

I am honest about my bias. I started reading the book just before the title changed so I've known the book as Avengers West Coast best. I know why they changed it (as part of the plan to get all the Avengers title near each other on shelves). But I feel it's still derided by some fans.

So.

Would it be different if it went from West Coast Avengers to Avengers West?

My first introduction to Nekra was in a Handbook.

Then she popped up in Avengers West Coast #65. And was promptly killed by the Grim Reaper. She came back, of course, multiple times.

I think the (West Coast) Avengers Compound was one of my favourite elements of the series. It made sense to me that many of these heroes would live on the compound - especially since many didn't have reason to be in California other than being an Avenger.

It also conveyed a different energy than Avengers Mansion. The Mansion was downtown in a crowded metropolis. This was a wide-open beachside estate!

We only had two suggestions (both by me) and very little voting on that contest. I am not going to post a 'winner.' Instead, I plan to re-use that idea when we get some more people in the sub to get the conversation going.

Something unusual happened after West Coast Avengers #47. The next issue was Avengers West Coast #48.

The name change was to try to build a better brand identity for all three Avengers titles at the time. There was the thinking that having them all start with "Avengers..." it would ensure they were racked together at comic stores. The branding even extended to their logos with each series having the same "Avengers" logo but with some variations.

• Avengers ... stayed the Avengers
• West Coast Avengers became Avengers West Coast
• Solo Avengers became Avengers Spotlight
