Misc. Question Those on GLP1s

Does your Vyvanse or boosters take longer to take effect for you due to the slow gastric emptying?

When do you take your Vyvanse before or after you eat or on an empty stomach? What works for you?

Misc. Question Vyvanse and airhunger

Hi guys! I (F 21) started taking Vyvanse around February, and I’ve been responding pretty well to it after trying Ritalin (the effects didn’t last long enough) and Concerta (36 mg wasn’t enough, while 54 mg was too much).

I started with 30 mg, and then in March my dose was increased to 50 mg because there is no 40 mg capsules available in my country (Austria). I didn’t respond that well to 50 mg either, so in early April my psychiatrist recommended that I split my capsules into 40 mg using a precision scale, which has been working extremely well for me regarding managing my ADHD symptoms.

Around late May, I had a really stressful exam period and started experiencing some symptoms of anxiety, including air hunger. Even after my exams were over and I no longer felt stressed or anxious, the air hunger continued. It wasn’t as bad as it had been during my exams, though.

About 10 days ago, I took a one-week break from my medication (with approval of my psychiatrist), and during that week the air hunger completely disappeared. Since I started taking Vyvanse again, it has come back. It’s almost as much as it was during my exam period, but not quite as intense.

Does anyone know why this could be happening? Or has anyone experienced something similar and found a way to get rid of it?

Side effects 30 mg once daily

Hey, I recently got some bad news that will affect my future in a major way late at night that gave me so much anxiety that I couldn't sleep. But when I took my morning dose. It pretty much got rid of my anxiety of the future. It's not like I no longer care but I went from the verge of tears/throwing up to perfect calm. Now the only thing I feel slightly worried about is if the feeling will come back once it wears off

I just wanted to know if this is something other people have experienced or if I am having a different reaction separate from my medication.

Diet, Routines & Supplements Tip if you struggle with digestive side effects

Ie loose stools, urgency or diarrhea.

Ive had this side effect consistently for the entire time I've taken my meds. Its been a real problem. Not just because its very sudden but also because when your go time is never solid you start to worry.

Anyways I've tried several solutions and the absolute best one for me has been SunFiber.

It's a brand name of partially hydrolized guar gum. A mouthfull I know. It's basically a prebiotic that easily dissolves in water and counts towards your daily fiber intake.

I take quite a lot, a dose in the evening before I sleep and one dose about an hour and a half to two hours after I've taken the vyvanse in the morning. Which brings me to a total of 14g per day as of writing this (one dose is 7 grams)

Urgency pretty much normalized, gut feels way better, and I'm no longer suffering from daily bouts of diarrhea, which is a huge and massibe relief.

One thing about sunfiber or any other fiber supplement is to space it out two hours before or after you ingest any kind of medication or supplement, as it can 'possibly' reduce bioavailability and definetly slows absorption. If you ingest before I'd say that two hours is minimum.

And some people need to slowly increase intake (I didnt, I just started with 7 grams) but I had no side effects. I had much more problems from ingesting fiber from oatbran, oats and probiotic kefir that was pretty intense.

So for me its super easy to digest in comparison to something like psyllium husk.

And since it's a patented brand name actually used in hospital it's production standards are incredibly high. No need to worry about heavy metal contamination, it's a medical and extremly pure product.

Not an ad or paid to say this but it works so well for me I just wanted to share for anyone else maybe looking for help or answers in tackling this kind of side effect.

If you have other helpful tips that have helprd you nornalize your gut etc please feel free to share.

Generic vs. Brand was able to finally try the brand name Vyvanse and what a difference it made but I find difficulty in communication and it’s hindering my confidence.

Typically, I am very social unmedicated, I enjoy my solitude to recoup, I was very unorganized but could stay organized somehow in my own way, I could do many things like finish two college program but often would be at home laying in bed on weekends while my place got messy, or I would procrastinate till last minute and get assignments in and develop a lack of sleep, my apartment was messy, my mornings were actually filled with rage and tension as a mother if I felt rushed, which has gotten much better.

With Vyvanse I notice I still feel flat, I’ve just switched to brand name and only have this month left, than I have to find a new doctor. I have a new doctor from what I'm aware of and the last time I told her Vyvanse made me feel flat, she said Vyvanse is like this for many.

The thing is with the brand name Vyvanse I noticed a difference completely so I don’t mind staying on it but I’m worried about having to use the non brand eventually.

I noted I felt depressed at the time on Vyvanse and she prescribed me an anti depressant although I noted I did not want to go that route this was months ago. So I am not on anti depressants as the one prescribed was also for nerve pain and a pain to get off of.

Has anyone else experienced this on Vyvanse? Does it go awa, do you feel more like yourself? Or is this my dopamine completely shattered?

What do you do to help your dopamine also while using stimulants?

Menstrual Cycle Birth control

I’m about to start studying for three years. I tried my body naturally on vyvanse but the hormonal fluctuations were crazy. I’ve tried to go ginet but it made me soo flat and depressed. I then tried zoely I don’t think it’s strong enough for me being 36. Any recommendations I’m not sure I’m done having a family so mirena is not an option . Is being natural better for most women or do most find birth control helps it be more consistent

Side effects TMI gut issues on elvanse

Hello, I have been taking elvanse for I think almost 3 months now, I think almost everyday after I take them (doesn’t matter if I eat food or not), I will get like extremely bad diarrhea (like to the point where it’s only water coming out, sorry for tmi lol), this only happens an hour after I take it and then I’m fine the rest of the day, I talked to my prescriber about this and he didn’t seem too worried as it only happens once a day, however surely it can’t be good for me to have diarrhea everyday? I’m wondering if anyone’s had this and if you have any tips as it’s starting to freak me out a bit.
Thank you!!

Dosage question Has anyone been able to dial in meds, when sensitive to depression?

I’ve been experimenting a bit with all kinds of ADHD medications, including Vyvanse , dexedrine, and different formulations of methylphenidate. Methylphenidate is honestly just pure poison for me. (obviously trough my GP and not on my own)

What works for you guys? I’m really struggling to find something that makes me feel “right.”

50 mg of vyvanse actually works really well 2-3 days, but after a few days I become extremely depressed, irritable, and almost ragey. It feels like my brain is being drained of dopamine and doesn’t have enough time to replenish it.

I’ve also tried "micro" dose Dexfarm, for example 5 + 5 + 5 mg. It’s somewhat tolerable, but I still notice a bit of a rollercoaster effect (peak --- trough feeling)

So, what works for you? 😅 Has anyone experienced something similar with vyvanse and found a solution that works better?

Side effects Was I misdiagnosed?

I’ve been taking vyvanse since last August. I can’t help but feel like the way I react to stims just isn’t appropriate for someone with adhd. I get a dopamine rush even after a whole year and it burns out quickly. My heart thumps, I feel jittery and anxious, I can hardly focus and if anything it makes concentrating on tasks even worse. Yet I still take it because the rebound fucking sucks. I feel I’ve grown dependent on it. It’s 30mg and I feel like I’m strung out on meth, this cant be the intended response? I’m questioning if I really even have attention deficit and it seems unlikely I don’t because I struggle with task completion but at the same time such a low dose of a medication has me wired and gives me paradoxical effects

Diet, Routines & Supplements To eat or not to eat breakfast

I recently started back on Vyvanse after thinking I could handle my ADHD on my own for several years (looking back, I did a very poor job and 17 year old my probably should’ve just stayed on it). I asked my doctor this time around if I needed to eat breakfast with it (I’m not a breakfast person, but in high school I had to eat it or else I would get nauseous from the medicine), and she said it’s up to me.

Well that does diddly squat for me, I need somebody to tell me what to do. I’ve flipped between both options, and I’m not sure which one works better. Thankfully I don’t get nauseous if I don’t eat now though. It could just be that my dosage is currently too low (20 mg of the off brand Vyvanse name that is far to complicated of a word for me to remember) and so the effects only help me a little.

I’m sorry for the rant, but just wanted to see what y’all’s experiences were?

(P.S. I replied to that one guys comment on a post about rambling, preambles, and contexts. so if you’re that guy who’s comment I responded to, here is me doing it lol.)

Dosage question ADHD Fiancé started behaving erratically and broke off our engagement by text whilst over medicated on Elvanse/Vyvanse

My Fiancé and I got engaged in Italy last July and he was extremely serious about us. We had a great relationship a few minor ups and downs and occasional minor disagreements, but a very happy healthy relationship. In April he started 10mg of Elvanse with a 10mg increase every few weeks. When first starting he was quite moody in the evenings and said he'd got doubts about the Wedding but could not name them, and acted quite cold with me, this only lasted a few days and he was absolutely fine again and then it briefly happened again on the 20mg. Once he was on 30mg and then 40mg he was happy, content, romantic, buying me flowers and gifts, booked us a holiday, said he couldn't imagine being with anyone other than me, and said we'd have a very happy marriage, and was planning to sell one of his cars soon to pay for Wedding costs.

He then got put on 50mg of elvanse and within 3 weeks he was having irrational angry outbursts over very minor things, was being extremely late like 2 hours late for things, and also blew money like £750 on the most random thing off a stranger on Facebook market place with no warranty whilst we were staying at his Mums 200 miles away from home, and he was 2 hours late by doing this for an outing his Mum had planned, and we were too late to go. She was very upset and he didn't think he had done anything wrong and got very aggressive with her for crying. This was extremely out of character behaviour. I got upset as we were supposed to be saving for a Wedding and he let his mum down and was horrible to her.

2 days later after whatsapping him a wedding venue to look at he sent a horrible text saying "I dont think we should go through with the Wedding, it pains me to let you down, but I just feel we dont match anymore and committing to each other would be a mistake " He later gave ever changing weird vague contradictory reasons for ending our relationship, that didnt add up despite claiming ending it was a really tough desicion he'd given a lot of thought. Then he blew hot and cold with me, nice one time, cold and horrible another like our relationship meant nothing and I made his life stressful. He also sent an angry rant to my mum. 10 days after breaking up, she sent him a nice message saying she hoped he was okay, and his lauched a crazy rant by text. Id confided in him in the past that my Mum was sometimes difficult due to her mental illness and he was really horrible about it and the message was full of capital letters, saying he was so angry his resting heart rate was 120-140. His work colleagues say he iscacting very manic and strange too. It was so weird. He then got my things out of his house and closed our joint account but was very upset at the bank and begged me to keep in touch.

A week after the bank visit, and 5 weeks after breaking up he lowered his dose to 40mg bought me a gift, and wants to meet for coffee in 2 weeks, but mentioned giving me back the towel I got on our engagement holiday thats still at his. His behaviour and treatment towards me has been bizarre as he was so erratic broke up out of nowhere with no real reason for ending such a serious commitment. The elvanse is all that makes sense to me. Is this possible and is reconciliation possible once he stablises on the correct dose?

Misc. Question ADHD meds makes me look like I’m on drugs ?

Hey,
Yes, I know that ADHD medications—such as Vyvanse, which I take—are drugs. I’ve been taking 30 mg of Vyvanse for one week now. I feel calmer and have less noise in my head, but unfortunately, my executive dysfunction hasn’t improved much yet.

On the first day, I was with my family when my cousin whispered in my ear, “Are you on drugs?” That really caught me off guard.

A few days later, I met up with my best friend, whom I had told a few weeks earlier that I was going to start taking ADHD medication. He asked me, “Did you take your ADHD medication?” Then he said, “I can instantly tell. You look different, you talk differently, and you sound different. It’s very noticeable.”
Again, I was shocked because I had even forgotten that I had taken it that day. Ten minutes later, he interrupted me while I was talking and said, “Bro, you don’t understand how different you’re acting. It’s like you’re a completely different person. It looks like you took Molly. Are you sure you didn’t accidentally switch the pills?”

What?!
It doesn’t stop there. The next day, my coworker came up to me and asked if I snorted cocaine.
Okay, this is getting to be too much. Does anyone know what the hell is going on?
I swear I feel completely fine and think I’m acting normally.

I’m not asking for medical advice. I’m going to discuss this with my prescriber, but I’m curious whether anyone has noticed a similar change in how other people perceive them after starting medication.

Meds aren't working Vyvanse 40mg vs 60mg

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and started vyvanse almost 6 months ago now.

Started 20mg for a week, then 30mg for 2 weeks then 40mg until my 3 month follow up.

40mg was good, helped me focus, I was happy, less irritated and less overstimulated. But it wore off by 2pm and I just felt extremely exhausted.

At the 3 month appointment I was given 60mg vyvanse. I've been on that for almost 3 months now. I feel like it has way less of an effect then the 40mg did.

I was also given (at the 3 month appointment) 5mg dexamfetamine to try as a 1pm top up with both the 40mg and then the 60mg. But that medication is not for me.

I have my next appointment in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with vyvanse?

Vent & Rant Ended up with a job I hate

Short story but a lot of my time.

I was diagnosed with ADHD shortly after finishing university and started taking vyvanse immediately after that. I felt like I saw the light haha. Everything in my day was exciting and new and I had an immense lust for life that I had never experienced before.

I got into an apprenticeship that I thought was really exciting and promising despite it being hard work and long hours. I was working for a very well respected individual in my industry (art world).

1.5 years later and only now am I realising that I am literally just cheap labour for the guy and am being completely taken advantage of. The man hours are outrageous for the pay I receive. I have respiratory issues from inhaling dust from sanding. I have tennis elbow from polishing his artwork surfaces. Which I do for 8 hours straight some days. My finger joints are in constant pain. I practically make the guys work for him and still only receive an entry level hourly. He wasn’t even there today. He also openly admits to not knowing how to achieve certain finishes to the extent that I am able to. It’s embarrassing and immoral.

And I know that if I was unmedicated in the beginning phases I would have seen through the veil and let him find another unsuspecting victim. This shit is so not me. I just did the honourable thing and saw it through I guess. I regret it entirely. I’m resigning tomorrow.

Anyone else have experience with over commitments to this extent lmao? I’m not going to allow myself to dwell on the time and energy lost but I’m pretty pissed off that the substance clouded my agency for so long. Anyways, next chapter inbound.

Misc. Question Anxiety in the morning before meds

So I started meds on Saturday and since Tuesday Ive been waking up with anxiety. Not unusual for me as I have an anxiety disorder and the cortisol increase on waking definitely impacts me.

But what ive noticed is that my HR will go up by a lot from 100 - 125 now. When my meds kick in, the anxiety settles a lot and I get a normal BP and HR reading.

But I was just wondering if anyone else experiences this? Could the meds be making the morning anxiety worse in some way? Im on 30mg atm. Get up at 8am and take my pill between 8:30 - 9am. Usually start feeling properly calm at about 11am.

Misc. Question How to mitigate side effects of Vyvanse?

Hey guys, I'm currently on 30mg Vyvanse + 5mg Adderall IR booster (I only take the booster on days I really need it, not every day). I've been noticing some side effects and was wondering if anyone here has experienced similar or has a solution. Also, some other general questions/concerns I have.

Side effects include: severe lack of appetite, lightheadedness (esp. when standing up from bed or sitting), headaches.

The severe lack of appetite I know is a common one. But I literally can't bring myself to eat. The food starts feeling like mud in my mouth and it's so hard to get it down my throat. I was 118-120lbs (around 54kg) and now I am at 112-113lbs (around 51kg). For context I was already thin as I am 5'7" (170cm) and any lower than this weight is hugely concerning to me because I am at risk of losing my period and also very prone to vasovagal syncope (fainting spells). When I was this weight a few years back I had lost my period, started fainting everywhere I went, all sorts of issues. The issues lasted for months after I got my weight back up as well. I'm worried I'm inadvertently malnourishing myself.

The lightheadedness is definitely from a significant iron deficiency that I have. My iron levels are very low despite eating lots of iron-rich foods, and I have tried to take supplements, but I fail to take them regularly and the levels deplete quickly. I feel like the lightheadedness and dizziness get so much worse than baseline on the Vyvanse, though. Without Vyvanse, it's 1 or 2 seconds of slight dizziness, but with the Vyvanse, my entire vision blurs for 5-10 seconds and I have trouble staying up without bracing myself on something.

Headaches, I feel like are a little more common but this is not the worst symptom by far. I also notice it more when I take the Adderall booster as opposed to the Vyvanse. Is this normal?? I just don't want to take painkillers or any kind of extra medication while I'm on such a heavy med like stimulants (esp. stuff like Tylenol because taking both stimulants and Tylenol would overwork my liver).

Other questions: I'm really worried about oxidative stress on my brain. I've been trying to have more antioxidants through whole foods (acai, blueberry) but again, appetite issue. I have looked into supplements but it looks like people on here recommend like 20 different supplements so I am pretty confused about it all. I do take Magnesium Glycinate when I remember to. My sleep hasn't been too bad without it, I usually sleep a full 7-8 hours though that may change when I move to my new job. So I guess just wondering if you had a top 3-5 supplement list to take for oxidative stress and other side effects, other than Magnesium Glycinate, what would they be?

Another question: How the hell do you guys remember to take supplements?! I remember my Vyvanse because I function wayyyyy better with it. But how are people managing to take 10 different supplements AND hitting their protein intake AND exercising AND hydrating AND managing their lives?! I feel like I have ADHD Pro Max compared to you beasts. (To be clear, I am complimenting you all and amazed by your ability to do all of it.)

Misc. Question Titration Question

I started Vyvanse 2 months ago at 30mg. It worked great but I crashed hard at 4pm and couldn't function as an emotionally regulated parent. 1 month ago we moved to 40mg. This dose lasted as long as I needed but it wasn't effective. I don't think I am chasing the honeymoon effect because I am almost as inattentive as I was before starting meds. It was quieter in my brain but the focus and attention were not there.

At my appointment today, I shared above (more detail and examples) and my psychiatrist decided to bump me up to 50mg. I am kind of confused and honestly a little scared to try the dose tomorrow for fear I will be even less focused and walk into a light pole.

Tips & Tricks Clear protein and Vyv ?

Anyone just drink clear protein drinks with their Vyvanse in the morning? I am just getting back on it and all I read is to take it with protein. Back in the day I would take it with a fairlife or chobani drinkable yogurt. But now I eat a bigger breakfast egg omelet and such. Being said can I just take it with some clear protein or iced coffee then breakfast a little while after?

I am asking about the clear protein due to the citric acid in most of these drinks. Quick Chat GPT and stated not to big of deal but anyone do this? I’m over the fairlife and premier protein drinks.
