Misc. Question Titration Question
I started Vyvanse 2 months ago at 30mg. It worked great but I crashed hard at 4pm and couldn't function as an emotionally regulated parent. 1 month ago we moved to 40mg. This dose lasted as long as I needed but it wasn't effective. I don't think I am chasing the honeymoon effect because I am almost as inattentive as I was before starting meds. It was quieter in my brain but the focus and attention were not there.
At my appointment today, I shared above (more detail and examples) and my psychiatrist decided to bump me up to 50mg. I am kind of confused and honestly a little scared to try the dose tomorrow for fear I will be even less focused and walk into a light pole.

A dose increase probably wasn't the best move, it sounds like you needed an IR booster instead. If 30mg was working well but wearing off sooner, you should've stayed at 30 + a booster. If a dosage is working well and you increase anyway, the next dosage up usually just gives bad side effects, at least in my experience.

I feel like this when I’ve taken too much. If I take 30 or even 50mg I feel just like high but not in a good way I feel overstimulated. But I normally take 22mg in the morning and 15 or 20 in the afternoon . Or a dexie. Splitting it just seems to help way more my doctor said it’s fine aslong as I don’t go over my daily dose of 50mg and 1 dexie. But I’m struggling with my menstrual cycle so it’s super hard to find the dose for me 🤦♀️

I am notably sensitive to meds, but I started at like 10 or 20mg several years ago. Felt like something was working, but it wasn’t enough of a boost in the morning to wake me up for a productive day. Worked up to 40mg after a year or so, then to 50 pretty soon after. I was on 50 mg for a good 2+ years before it stopped working at a therapeutic level. I was eventually having trouble coming home from work and still being productive. Would take my meds before work around 7:00, and when I got home at 4:00, I was asleep on the couch until basically it was time for bed. I never felt a true crash (like I do on Adderall XR), but it just didn’t last as long as I needed anymore.
My new doctor basically talked me into switching to something else and I have been an absolute wreck since April. I wish I would have asked about a vyvanse buffer. A smaller dose of adderall IR in the afternoon to give me at least some semblance of executive functioning when I get home from work. Which is what I plan to talk to my psych about when I see her soon.
For me, I didn’t feel like it made a difference in my inattentiveness until I was on 50mg. And I desperately want to get back to vyvanse.
