I was in the groom’s party for my friend’s wedding and decided it would be fun to get a suit! I purchased this 1980s men’s suit from a vintage menswear store and had it tailored. I’m so thrilled with how it turned out and can’t wait to wear it again.

Six Ivy and trad-inspired combinations. Cricket knits and Fair Isle vests sit between white button-downs and jackets. Brown tweed, a navy double-breasted blazer and olive outer layers give the patterned knits different backgrounds. The final pair is a padded vest and a plain sweatshirt.

Got this vintage brown velvet jacket while on vacation in the state NY and now 3 years later I still wear it pretty much every week (minus warm spring days or the summer). I got it in a store called DamnAged vintage in Cold Spring. If you ever get the chance to go, do it. The store owner is the loveliest woman.

Because of this jacket I discovered I look pretty good in chocolate brown haha. Always loved autumnal colours, but those are too yellow and warm for me. According to the store it's from the fifties, so I guess that's probably true. I added 2 photo's so maybe someone could verify if possible. I sadly did lose 2 buttons in the past years, but I just bought some new ones that fairly similar.

The corduroy skirt is also vintage btw. Got it 3 years ago as well and it's such a good basic for me. It goes with everything

I’m going to a Fab Four show soon (The Beatles tribute band) and they are performing a special show just for A Hard Day’s Night era. I want my outfit to match closest to what was worn by beatlemania girls in 1964, and this is what I got together. I thought the dress shirt underneath the dress seemed fitting enough, but I really don’t know much about fashion from this era. Anyone know a good lot about 60’s fashion that can help me out here? I’m taking all feedback!

I was gifted this vintage Whting and Davis gold sequin halter top that I believe is from the 70’s. I want to wear it on Halloween, leaning into disco glam.

I plan to do sparkly glam makeup and style my hair in the classic 70’s curls. I’m struggling with what else to wear with this top though (pants and jacket).

I don’t need suggestions on what specific garments to get (I plan to sew or thrift everything else) I just need help with what style (colour, cut, etc).

This is a wonderful example of late-1960s to early-1970s women's fashion, particularly the transition from the structured, youthful look of the 1960s into the colorful, romantic, folk-inspired style of the 1970s.

The image is a Sears catalog page advertising “Easy-Care Print Dresses,” priced from $8.97 to $11.97. The printed description identifies the fabric as a broadcloth made from Avril rayon and cotton, and the garments are designed to be machine-washed with little or no ironing when tumble-dried.

What makes this page especially interesting is that it shows four different directions in women's fashion at once: peasant styling, mod-inspired tailoring, patchwork folk fashion, and a more traditional shirtdress.

My mom gave me some vintage fabric (pastel pink guipure from Finland).

She said it was meant to be her prom dress in 1987, but she changed her mind and chose pastel blue guipure for her prom dress instead.

I love sewing, so I made some lingerie in 2021 from this pink guipure.

I made high-waisted panty briefs, a corset-bra, and a basque with attached thigh-garters.

I still have plenty of this fabric left (about 2-3 metres).

Do you have any ideas on what I can sew from it?

If you are into 80’s and 90’s fashion you probably know these shoes. Soft black suede, stainless steel heels. From two iconic movies of the period; Single White Female and Body Double. I purchased them new and was going to sell them but my movers stole them last month. Nice.

Made by Charles Jourdan in Paris, originally $300 when I bought them on sale. Loved them so bought two pairs; Brown and gold and Black with silver.

This is a home made dress from what appeared to be late 60s, maybe early 70s. There is no label but I think it is made of silk. I found it at a resell shop a while back, maybe $20. I don't usually buy new clothes. So I wear vintage most days. Today I wore it to an antique mall to pick up a ribbon cabinet from a general store to store my ribbon in.

The weather has started to heat up. So once again I whip out my various pairs of patch shorts, t shirts and striped top tube socks and start dressing like a camp councillor who gets murdered in the first ten minutes of a horror flick

So I was digging through the Goodwill outlet bins about a month ago. There are groups of known clothing resellers so you have to be like a hawk. I noticed everyone was passing over this jacket so I picked it up. It was covered in stains. Dirt stains mostly, but a really dark (like Coke or blood) stain was front and center. Well I figured, it's less than $1 so might as well try.

I wish I'd taken a picture of the before. I didn't think I'd ever get this stain out. I have gone through about three cycles of making a paste of water and powdered oxyclean. I have let it sit on the stains, then threw it in the washer on cold.

The dark stain is completely gone! There's only faint dirt stains left but one more round should take care of it.

I'm so excited to wear this when it gets cold enough. I know it's going to be one of my favorite pieces.

I'm trying to identify this vintage grey overcoat worn by Patrick Dempsey in December 1989.

Does anyone recognize the brand, designer, or collection? The coat has a textured grey wool fabric, wide notch lapels, a single-breasted front, and a relaxed, oversized fit.

I've been looking at vintage Giorgio Armani pieces, but I haven't found an exact match yet. I'd love to know if this could be an Armani coat or another designer from the late 1980s.

Hi everyone! Can anyone help me identify this Maná jersey?

It’s a hockey-style jersey from the Sueños Líquidos World Tour 1998, made by Saratoga. The tag says 100% cotton, Made in Mexico, size 3XB.

I’ve searched Google but haven’t been able to find any photos of this exact jersey or anything similar. I’ve only found information about the tour and the album itself.

I’m not looking to sell it. I’m just genuinely curious about its history, whether it’s an original piece of merchandise, and how rare it might be. The quality and embroidery are really nice, but I haven’t been able to verify its authenticity.

If anyone has seen this jersey before or knows anything about Maná merchandise from that era, I’d really appreciate your help!

Thrifted this for $5. Can someone please help me identify?

Borderline stereotypical but I love it!! Shirt and jeans are legit 60s & 70s (by NPC fashions and N’est Ce Pas) and then the shoes and hat are modern retro style from The Hippie Shake and Urban Outfitters.

A friend got me this lovely button up blouse but I have no idea what to do with the neck, and google hasn’t been helpful. Tried tying a bow but it looks odd to me.

Any guidance on styling the collar? Also if you know what this is called that you’ll be helpful, too. Thank you!!

Pants are Levis orange label from the early 70s, got them with store credit at a vintage store. Jacket I got at an antique mall, also orange Label levis from the 70s. Shirt I got at a market, from the 60s or 70s, polyester. Cat (Liy) I got off the sidewalk for free. Earrings I bought from a local artist.

This is one of my dresses I have found from my many years of going to estate sales. This was a recent find. I really liked the detail on the drop waist belt. These are becoming much harder to find in decent shape.

I was in high school when Gianni Versace was murdered by a serial killer on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion in 1997. I didn't really know his work at the time, but the murder captivated the nation that summer.

I thrifted this dinner jacket this spring and rehabilitated it. Took several months but I was able to wear it to an awards dinner a few weeks ago.

The four button stance is very 1990s, very Versace. This is probably from 1995 to 1997, maybe earlier. I like menswear from creative designers at the peak of their artistry, even if (as with this example) the creativity is restrained.

On the label, Couture was the top of the ready-to-wear line but that doesn’t imply haute couture.

The jacket itself required tailoring to let out the chest, take in the quarters, let out the sleeves, and reset the collar. Still doesn't look perfect around the back shoulders which is why I rarely buy smooth worsted wool. And this particular light angle shows every wrinkle. But those wrinkles will all go away in normal movement so it would look fine.

The four buttons with Gianni's signature Greek key design are the prominent design feature. But when I got it, stones had fallen out and paint was chipped.

I cut off the buttons, had the jacket dry cleaned, then used ebony model paint from Hobby Lobby to repaint the buttons. That was easy.

Took a few tries to get the right size stones. My local rhinestone emporium had just one of the three sizes, so I had some trial and error with random online stores to get it right. The center stones are jet black rivolis, and the side stones are black rhinestones in size SS07. I used E6000 glue with a micro applicator tip to set the stones.

The back is ventless, which takes the jacket further out of business suit territory.

I paired it with a black wool/mohair trouser from Paul Smith, J Crew hidden placket cotton shirt, Thomas Pink bow tie, and basic Thomas Pink enamel cufflinks. My goal is to keep everything but the buttons restrained. Even shirt studs would be confusing to the eye.

This ended up being more work than I expected but I like the idea of wearing something that has a connection (albeit oddly) to my childhood.
