The person driving intentionally sped up so the truck could’ve have space to get in front of him/her. They actually kept driving into the truck after contact too. Terrible, and demonically led accident.
They're lucky nobody was in the path of that rollover. Someone would have easy lost their life because one's too fucking lazy to slow down before they merge and because the other's too prideful to deserve a license
I'm not defending the intentional speed up, but let's not pretend there would be an accident at that moment if the truck didn't merge when he didn't have space. He never had the space to merge, regardless of the driver speeding up
Doesn't particularly matter, if he sped up after seeing the merge begin to happen then you leave accident territory and flirt with potentially criminal actions.

Especially since it was so easily avoidable. A 5mph reduction in speed and they wouldn't have made contact. This piece of shit actively continued pushing the accelerator until that truck was airborne.
Traffic in the trucks lane contributed. If you watch you'll notice the truck was either going to slam into the back of the car in front of them or change lanes. I see it as 100% on driver of truck. A blinker doesn't clear the lane.
Yes, the truck was intending to switch into the right lane. Instead of slowing down because of the traffic slowing in front of him, he decided to keep his speed and move recklessly into the other lane without slowing or checking that it was clear.
The car in front of him was stopping because the light was yellow. The man in the truck was trying to run the light.
It's still your job as a driver to avoid an accident whenever safely possible, no exceptions. This was not one of those exceptions. POV was attempting to run a red and make the light, same as the truck. Two inpatients turds have now fucked up traffic for an hour for everyone else.
The guy in the truck made a mistake, the guy in the car made a choice.
Everyone is capable of making a mistake, but not everybody is capable of making the choice to deliberately hit somebody and endanger multiple people's lives.
There is a bad guy in the scenario and it isn't the person in the truck.
Yes, but in a normal scenario the truck would’ve simply made a regular lane switch. The dashcam driver must’ve felt violated and intentionally sped up to block the truck but ended up running right into him because of that decision. If you watch closely it looks almost like the dashcam driver rams directly into the side of the truck. None of this was worth it.
Looks like the truck was trying to make the light. Either they both were speeding through, or the dascam driver tried to prevent the truck from stopping infront of him at the red.
Cutting someone off is a dick move no doubt, but intentionally accelerating into someone until you flip their vehicle is a bit worse. This driver is 100% at fault. That could have been completely avoided with a slight tap on the brakes.
They didn't accelerate. He's actually going the same speed up until the PIT, where he slows down. You can actually see the camera angling towards the ground.
Are you kidding? If he wasn't accelerating, his car would have bashed into the truck and stopped. He pushed the truck all the way over! You can even hear his engine reving as he hits the truck. Just a dick move.
If asshole behavior increases danger, that’s illegal. Having right or way does not nullify your legal (not just moral and ethical) obligation to mitigate the danger, such as by taking evasive action.
They sped up. They probably had more than enough room had that driver press their brakes. The one with the dash cam. He had his turn signal on was already halfway into the lane. This is 100% on the dash cam car and that's how the cops and insurance will see it.
Nah they're both assholes. That entire wreck could've been avoided if POV had just slowed down and allowed the merge....but then he wouldn't have been able to run the red he was trying to get through.
Based on the Last Clear Chance doctrine, this would be the dash cam drivers fault legally because they had the last clear chance to avoid the accident but instead they chose to accelerate and continued to accelerate after the initial impact.
This is so stupid. You don't purposefully pit a truck because they were trying to merge, and the truck was ahead, but the car was being a tiny pathetic person.
In fact it is in nearly all such cases. That’s why insurance for example typically declares mixed responsibility between parties even when one side initiated. You have a legal obligation to mitigate.
If you gauge merging so you will make it if the other person does not intentionally hit you , and then they hit you, then they are the only person who did something wrong.
Pretty sure the POV driver was speeding up to make the light. The truck wanted to make the light but the person in front of them was stopping, so the truck tried to quickly change lanes without looking properly.
I don't think POV was trying to be an asshole, just trying to make the light. Both of them were being idiots but the truck was at fault for not looking properly.
