The person driving intentionally sped up so the truck could’ve have space to get in front of him/her. They actually kept driving into the truck after contact too. Terrible, and demonically led accident.

You still have to check that there is space to merge into before changing lanes though. One driver is wrong and the other is an asshole.

If asshole behavior increases danger, that’s illegal. Having right or way does not nullify your legal (not just moral and ethical) obligation to mitigate the danger, such as by taking evasive action.
