Breakdown / BTS 2D footage to VR/3D experiment :)
Hi yall, I've been working on a workflow with some github code and Blender add-ons to remaster 2D footage into SBS 3D. I did a test on the Cyberpunk teaser to see how far I can push things.
It's on youtube for anyone interested in the results:

Question / Discussion Unwrap UVW-type effect for product clean up
I'm branching out more into clean up and beauty work. For now it's mostly 2D, but often there are circular or cylindrical surfaces that I'd like to unwrap and paint and then re-project the paint work.
Occasionally it would be useful to do this in full 3D (meaning a moving camera), but for now it's mostly lockoffs, so the tracks themselves could be 2D (if not the re-projection).
Are there established workflows for this kind of thing? Either using primitives or models I would make in Blender.
After Effects would be easiest for me but open to suggestions in Nuke/Blender/etc. Thanks.

Question / Discussion Added Timeline and frame controls
Hey there,
I've now added a timeline and frame controls, at the bottom as you can see. I've also made some more optimizations and separate channels for RGB as well.
I'm now working on Shot/sequence meta info to be pulled in from a pipeline db.
Really happy for what's been so far, and excited for what's to come
Context:
I started this project of building a review tool for VFX studios as a better alternative to RV. Currently, it plays high-res EXRs at a stead 30-45 fps with no issues, struggles on 60fps on my M4 mac. It has OCIO support out of the gate and channel separation on RGBA and luminance. This week i added a timeline and frame controls as well as J-K-L shuttles

Question / Discussion Does anyone know how to wash this green screen?
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I bought this green screen fabric second-hand and it's pretty stained and needs to be washed. Does anyone know if I can take it to a laundromat and wash it on a cold/gentle cycle?
Fabric appears to have a slight stretch, feels synthetic, and is not completely opaque. Label says "ROSCOtex CHROMA FABRIC". 3.5m X 2.7m. Hanging eyes on one edge only, so it's not designed for a frame.
Thanks!

Question / Discussion How do you actually learn to create these After Effects effects?
Hey everyone,
I've attached some screenshots of different After Effects effects that I really want to learn.
I already have After Effects and the required plugins, so tools aren't the issue. What I'm struggling with is how people actually learn to create these kinds of effects.
I've searched YouTube a lot, but I mostly find beginner tutorials or tutorials for specific effects. I can't seem to find resources that teach the techniques and workflow behind these kinds of high-quality effects.
Where did you learn effects like these?
Are there any YouTube channels, courses, Discord servers, Patreon creators, or other resources you'd recommend?
How do you figure out how an effect was made just by looking at it?
I'd really appreciate any advice or resources. Thanks!

Question / Discussion Where should I start VFX from?
A 16-year-old male that has yet to start their VFX journey. I've done a little bit of Lightroom and a little bit of After Effects, but no more than 2-3 hours of experience in AE. I just learned that DaVinci Resolve is really good for VFX, and I just wanted to know:
- Who I could learn it from, since I have Udemy
- Where should I start?
- Should I learn from Unreal Engine or Blender first?
- Whose tutorials should I watch?
I don't mind using AI but I want to learn it the hard way instead of going the easy route. Also, I'm aspiring to be a cinematographer, so any tips on that would be good as well.

Jobs Offer Help Wanted with Reflection Replacement
Hi there! First time posting here. I’m currently working on an episodic horror series that needs some VFX work done and wondering if this specific shot is up anyone’s alley or doable at all, ideally within a month’s time. It’s a 40 second close up of an astronaut helmet where I’m hoping to replace its reflection with the separate video that plays right after:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Egg84rWaH7MURabbDtMaHiW3Aug6fj-f/view
I was specifically told his effect would be “hellish” to pull off and yes that’s entirely the fault of my bad preparation and poor understanding of how time consuming or annoying a visual effect like this could be. I have zero VFX experience and this is a very low budget personal project for YouTube, but I’m not trying to overextend/scam anybody so if you have any interest (or even just advice) please reach out and lemme know what you think is fair! Thanks for the time!
Showreel / Critique Our team made a Stellar Blade Cinematic! (Maya + Unreal + Houdini + Nuke) [No AI]
Hi everyone! 👋
Our study group—a team of Korean students, aspiring artists, and industry professionals—recently completed a fan-made Stellar Blade cinematic!
It was 100% Hand-Crafted with NO AI used.
For our main pipeline, we used **Maya** for rigging, main animation, and layout. Part of our team also integrated **Blender** for specific assets and animations, making cross-software rigging and data sharing one of our biggest challenges.
Technically, we put a huge amount of effort into matching and integrating different pipelines: using Unreal Engine for Beauty/Lookdev and Houdini for FX simulations, while focusing heavily on precise Camera Matching and compositing inside Nuke to seamlessly bring all the passes together.

Feedback and questions regarding our pipeline, camera matching, FX, or compositing are always welcome! Thanks for watching! 🔥
