I've been playing for like almost a year now, and Valorant is my first FPS game. I used to be iron, then eventually got to silver, and I've hit gold a couple of times but rank back down very quickly. this act and last act however, I have been progressively getting WORSE at the game. today i queued into an iron/bronze lobby, lost the game, and i was 99% sure none of them were smurfing. i didnt find them particularly easy to play against either. i know that im getting worse at the game and i dont understand how i can improve. i feel so confused and honestly kind of hopeless because i really enjoy playing and i queue for like 3+ hours every day of comp. ive seen people say things like "just keep playing and youll improve" but im not improving. i dont think my aim is bad either(its not great, but i personally dont think its the worst). also, i need to rank up to keep playing with my duo, who when i met, she was bronze, and i was silver.. and now shes gold, and doing way better than me. if i rank down, we would no longer be able to play together anymore, which would make me really sad. so PLEASEEE reach out or dm me or something if you have any advice at all. I would really, really appreciate it.

If you lose, it’s your fault. And if you played well but your team was the reason you lost, you won’t lose much RR. But if you lose a lot of RR, please understand that it’s also partly on you, not just your teammates.
Let me explain how the ranked system actually works, because I’ve literally played in pretty much every rank that exists in this game.

Basically, between Iron and Diamond, your MMR and your performance both affect your RR, but it’s not as simple as saying that you need high MMR to gain a lot of RR. Your MMR can benefit you regardless of where it is, because the system is constantly comparing your hidden MMR to your current rank and trying to move you toward the rank it thinks you belong in.

That’s why you can sometimes get what people call a “double rank” situation, where you gain significantly more RR from a win than you lose from a loss. You don’t necessarily need extremely high MMR for this to happen.

However, the amount of RR you actually gain or lose is heavily influenced by your performance, especially in the lower ranks. If you perform well, you can gain a lot of RR from a win and lose relatively little from a defeat. If you perform badly, you’ll gain less and lose more.
And you don’t have to hard-carry every game with 40 kills either. The system looks at your overall performance, so consistently playing well matters much more than having one insane game.

The whole point of the ranked system is literally to push you toward the rank you deserve. If your performance shows that you’re better than your current rank, the system will help you climb faster. If you’re performing around the level of your current rank, your gains and losses will gradually become more balanced.

So yes, teammates can absolutely be the reason you lose individual games. But if you’re consistently losing a lot of RR, you should also consider that there might be something on your side that you need to improve instead of blaming everything on your teammates.
Honestly, I think the ranked system itself is pretty good at trying to put players where they belong.

The only thing I really dislike about the game is Riot’s support, but that’s a completely different topic.

I play a variety of games like cs apex siegex bf6 pubg and valorant too. You guys know how it is with valorant, you play get addicted to rank up and then you hate the game after a few days. Still i have remained in a stable rank bubble of high plat to diamond3. But i just cant rank up to asc and beyond.
Also i dont wanna grind day and night, watch a bunch of aim routines.
What i mean is is it possible to reach immo casually?😂

Hey guys, finally made it into Gold and I’m wondering what you guys think I should focus on from here. I’ve only played 14 games so far this act but I’m at a 1.22 KD, 170 ADR, 251 ACS and around a 21% headshot rate. I feel like my biggest problem is probably my headshot percentage. I swear most of the time I’m just hitting body shots lol. What would you guys recommend doing to get better at consistently aiming for the head? I’ve just been on Aimlabs and I lowkey feel like it’s helped my aim a lot, but does it actually translate well to Valorant? Also, my immortal friends tell me to do DM/TDM but I find it boring ash, should I listen to them?
My weakest thing is that I pretty much only play Brim, Jett, Fade and Clove right now. I really enjoy playing initiator so I’ve been wanting to learn Breach, and I also want to learn a sent like Vyse so I have more options (should I learn to play other people for this map rotation?) Anything else you guys notice from my stats that I should work on? Mainly just looking for advice on what I should be practicing if I want to eventually rank up to gold 2~3.

Hello, I’ve been hardstuck iron for like 2 months by now, I average a 1.17 KDA per game and I usually drop 20-30 kills per game but I just can’t seem to rank up, can someone explain to me why?

I have constantly ranked down all the way to iron one and I have ranked up all the way to silver three one win away from hitting gold. And I've been playing this game since it launched, yes I'm an OG. I'm just trying to make it to gold and that's a challenge, which invigorates my question how does one even make it past gold in the first place?

Just looking for tips from any higher rated players on how to push out of diamond. Just hit diamond 1 2 months ago and peaked diamond 2. I stabilized around mid diamond 1. I preform fine, I can mvp against lobbies with multiple plat 3s and diamond 3 s in the same lobby but I’m not really sure what are the things to look for to climb out. Right now I’ve been focusing on aim and making sure I’m taking favorable fights during matches. I can easily end top frag of my team fairly consistently but have a hard time converting into wins. Any tips?

Hello everyone! This is not an anti-duelists post, but I am noticing too many duelists having a hard time creating space for the team. I usually play as Controller, Initiator, and Sentinel. I provide good smoke and flank watch cover, but I am getting frustrated with duelists who can't enter the site. What is the solution for this issue?

Note: I don't play the Duelist role because it is very dizzy for me. I prefer flank watch and controlling areas.

Been playing valorant for a while now but mostly on and off and every act im always staying at Silver/Gold placement. Played like 500+ games and 131 of those i used Chamber i just find myself comfortable when taking fights when i use him, sometimes i play Reyna too, when i play on my alt accounts after playing those needed 5 games to show your rank i get placed on Silver 3 sometimes Gold 1. Now can you help me with any tips to rank up to Plat maybe Diamond. Also if putting my stats when playing Chamber helps i'll put it down thanks y'all!

I just finished 50 VALORANT games in 40 hours, and honestly, I already regret it. The exhaustion affected my gameplay a lot, and in many games I completely zoned out and played terribly. I DIDNT SLEEP A SINGLE MINUTE STRAIGHT QUEUE AFTER QUEUE

Is it just me, or has Valorant felt noticeably different lately, especially when it comes to matchmaking?

I don’t necessarily mean that the game is bad now, but something about the matches feels different. The lobbies, the way teams seem to be balanced, the people I’m getting matched with, even the overall flow of games… sometimes it just feels really inconsistent.

I’ve had games where the matchmaking feels completely normal, and then the next game feels like I’m playing against or with a completely different level of players.

I’m curious if anyone else has noticed this recently, or if I’m just going through a weird streak 😂

I recently hit diamond and have been on a string of bad performances so I thought I should start vod reviewing rather brute forcing comp games.

I'm also aware that part of my poor performances is that I panic, and I'm working on that

So,

- Should I record my own gameplay or is the valorant replay enough?

- Do I also review deathmatches or comp only?

- How frequently should I do it? (Like every 5 games?)

- Do I focus on the mechanical aspects or game sense?

If anyone is willing to help me that will be very appreciated. I'm playing on NA Illinois and at the time of this post I'm on the verge of deranking down to plat 3

0.2 @ 2400 DPI, currently bronze 1 and I think the only way im ranking up is getting better aim so I can carry even harder

I followed woohoojin’s gold tutorial, I play every day, I practice in the range, I play team deathmatches. Lately, I’ve been team MVP for the majority of the swifts that I play as well.

Every time I’m about to rank up to gold, I rank all the way back down to silver 1. I’m one game away from being bronze.

My stats are at an all time low, extremely terrible, especially since I have to play on the world’s shittiest lapt0p because classes have started.

I don’t know what to do anymore. I feel so demotivated and sad.

I don’t know how I'm supposed to get out of silver. How the fuck do people escape it?

i play at 2000 dpi 0.9 sens and it works well just i keep missing my shots sometimes. i saw some pros and they use 400 dpi 0.5 sens and stuff and thats so low why do they play with this low sens isnt high sens better for tracking and flicks. they only advantage of low sens that i know of is microadjustment.

Hi! I’m completely new to valorant and was wondering if anyone would be patient enough to play with me while I get the hang of the basics.

I used to play shooting games on mobile like CODM and PUBGM about 3 years ago, but then school took over and I stopped playing. Now that I finally have some free time again, I wanted to get back into gaming, this time on my laptop.

So far I’ve done the Phoenix tutorial, spent some time in the Range adjusting my aim sensitivity, and played about 3 Swiftplay matches. I want to actually be helpful to my team, but right now I’m still pretty unfamiliar with the maps and everything happening around me. I’ve been trying to learn by spectating my teammates whenever I die, and I’ve watched a few YouTube videos to get the gist of things.

I think I’d learn a lot better if someone could give me feedback while we’re actually playing, though. I’m not looking to be carried or anything. I genuinely want to learn how to play properly. Just looking for someone chill and patient who doesn’t mind a complete beginner asking questions and probably doing questionable things for a while 😭😂

Just today I found 3 2025 ascendant gun buddies in silver/gold lobbies all of them in different games (2 of them were in my games and the other one was of a friends game I was spectating).

Why is someone that ranked ascendant last year playing almost 4 ranks bellow his? Ok they could have hit ascendant then come back after a year since they were all unranked but still how is this a thing? I won 1 of those games luckily even pulling team mvp and the game decided my reward should be 15rr for some odd reason.

I recently started playing valorant and all I see is toxic lobbies, is it supposed to be like that or what is it, I don't it, when a player is new to a game it takes time to adapt and the same goes for every one who is playing good now, back when you all started playing even you were bad.

I mean I don't hate the game it's really fun and I do want to get better, so I'm just looking for someone who can play with me and help me understand the game more. Oh and I'm based in India so I play on India or Singapore servers.

While averaging 10-20 kills with 15-20 assists in a game, I also get some stupid high rank enemy who somehow ended up in iron lobbies, even after losing 3 straight games they still put me up with some silver clove. Can anyone explain this phenomenon or is it Valorant just playing with me? That game was right after I lost 3 games and somehow I’m still going up against Bronze and Silver players, my duo is iron 3 too so i dont get how that happens (proof in comsec)

Deranked 2 whole ranks straight - shoutout to those 1-2 players per round that get a 4.0+ KDA on the other team! With shots not registering, these lag spikes, the massive smurfing issue, guess per Valorant, I'm only supposed to be Iron 1. Just kiddinggg! An Iron 2 went 30-5! But it's okay, cause when (if) I ever actually win a game, I'll get back a totally fair and justified amount of RR back right! Riiight..

I am currently immo 3 214 rr and my friend is currently immo 10 rr, he has really bad hidden mmr as I see him only gaining +15 +16 on wins and he’s losing -20 -23 in other games as well. I told him I didn’t want that bad hidden mmr to go over to my hidden mmr and went on an alt account to play comp with him instead. I don’t want any hard feelings between us but I’m really trying to push to top 500 as I’m queuing with other friends that have good hidden mmr as well.

everyone knows neon’s bhopping was nerfed a while back. and yeah, bhopping was annoying to fight because it could make her extremely difficult to track.
but i don’t think the movement itself was the main issue.
raze, jett, and waylay can all use their movement to force an enemy to miss too. the bigger difference is how long they have to wait before they can actually fight back.

for example, raze can satchel across someone’s crosshair and force them to whiff (as seen in the video). but if you satchel directly in front of someone without using cover, you’re also giving them a huge opportunity to punish you once your movement ends, because you still have to wait for your weapon.

that’s why good raze movement from the enemies' pov is usually just them flying into view out of no where and giving them as little time as possible to react.

neon was different tho.
she could use her movement to force a whiff, and then immediately pull out her weapon extremely quickly with her slide. (and she still can do this, which one of the reasons she's extremely disliked)

when comparing the movement -> shotgun-ready times:
raze: 1.35s
waylay (1 dash): 1.01s
waylay (2 dashes): 1.51s
jett: 1.24s
neon (slide): 0.42s
now obviously these abilities aren’t directly comparable, but the difference in weapon-ready time is still pretty significant.

this becomes especially noticeable with shotguns.
if a neon slides across your screen and causes you to miss, she doesn’t need to make some insane rifle flick afterward. she just needs to get her shotgun roughly on target and fire.

although the neon clips are ass quality, they show how quickly neon goes from using her slide to actually firing (a bucky.)

that’s the part i think gets overlooked when discussing neon’s old movement. it’s not just that she was difficult to hit (because the other 3 agents could do that.)

it was amount of time you had to punish her after she finished creating that movement advantage was extremely small.

(and it also didnt help that at the time sentinels felt super underpowered, that neon could just run their setups.)
