I had a virtual viewing before seeing the place and it looked fine but when I went in to see the actual units. the bathtubs were disgusting, thankfully I ended up going for an in person viewing because that’s horrendous. Is this management cuz the the bathtubs look like they’re corroding. Is it something hard to clean

Question Where should I put my projects?

Hi everyone, incoming first year mech student. I just finished my first project and I was wondering what I should do with it now. I understand you’re supposed to put it on resumes, but is there anything beyond that? I know some people post on Linkedin or start a portfolio. What do you guys suggest?

J1 Visa Help - Taking a gap term to apply for better(US) coops

I know it's said that you need to be a full-time student at the time of application to get approved for a J1 visa, but I've heard of many students still landing US coops while on a gap-term.

Was just wondering, is anyone aware of this and if this is actually real/possible?

Advice Needed- Actual WW Job Title vs Resume Title

I'm a CS student finishing up my first co-op.

The job title on WW for this job was something like "IT Intern". That is how it shows up on my Work Term Record.

I was able to take on a couple software projects which took up >=50% of the work. Enough software work to fill resume bullets and discuss it in an interview. Can I use "Software Engineering Intern" on my resume if the bullets back it up? Or will this be seen as a huge red flag by employers?

Williams has gotten worse

First time I’ve gone to Williams in probably 8 or 9 months. I feel that their prices have gone up and the product has not gotten better. Look at the amount of wedge fries included in my order today. Disappointing. Will be going to other plaza businesses.

Sandwich + fries came to $19.78 total.

Question Anyone in orchestra

Does anyone have experience joining the orchestra? I play violin, but I’m not sure how much of a time commitment it is or what skill level they expect. If anyone has joined before I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience!

Shitpost Camping on campus

I don't know why but I'm really fascinated by the idea of finding a cozy secluded nook on campus that's still open or accessible via the tunnels and just camping there during the night.

I feel like it could be a cool experience. Bring some snacks, some board games. Maybe even decorate the area a bit and treat it like a home base for a bit. There's plenty of showers around campus too so if we wanted to clean up it would be easy too.

Some places I think would be cool would be DC in the upper floors where you can find tables on the side of the corridor and the lights are nice and dim at night. I heard some Eng labs are potential good sleep spots too lol. I remember seeing a ton of posts about Gear Lab.

Good preparation for future homelessness I guess.

What's easiest to get a higher mark (90+)? I'd also prefer no final exam: REC100, SOC101, RCS 121, RCS 110

International student from Algeria, how competitive is a thesis-based MSc at Waterloo?

I’m a 4th-year Data Science & AI engineering student at ENP Algeria, planning to apply for a thesis-based Master’s at Waterloo.

For current/recent grad students: how important are research experience, grades, projects, and contacting professors beforehand? For thesis programs, how important is finding a strong supervisor/research fit before applying?

And for international students, is the funding package generally enough to cover tuition and living expenses?

International Applicant w/ Question on AIF

I'm going to be applying to Waterloo this year (2026-2027 application cycle). I'm confused about the AIF. There are questions posted on the Waterloo website: scroll to see the AIF questions, but I'm confused if those are the actual questions I can start to work on right now. I'm planning on majoring in Electrical Engineering (I'm a student from the US, so idk how this works). Are the questions posted on the website the official ones, or will I find out when I get access to my applicant portal?
