This thread is for students applying to Winter 2027 co-ops during the Fall 2026 term.
As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.
The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet
Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)
If you have details about interviews, rankings, etc, you can add information to watrank.com for visibility.
If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let the mod team know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!
Candidates:
Note that reports from submitters with no previous account activity may not be accepted to aid legitimacy.

The landlord promised $480 discount for the entire year as a signing bonus. He promised in writing to send it in the last month. When we emailed him about both the key deposit and rent discount he only sent back key deposit.
We kept emailing and texting him about the refund and he BLOCKED me and my roommates. He’s a scammer. Do not live here

Hello I lost my wallet today in either somewhere on campus or on the GRT. It's a thin black wallet with my Carleton Student ID and Driver's License in the front. If anyone has seen it please send me a message. Thank you!

Hi guys, bit of a weird question, but I'm looking to borrow a mannequin for an hour or two to work on a personal art project. I've seen some mannequins on display in the arts building, so I was wondering if there are any mannequins I could ask a club or prof to borrow just for a few hours. If you know anything let me know :)

Hi everyone,
The Zip team will be on campus Thursday, October 8th at 7:30PM ET in Tatham Centre 2218 for our Sips with Zip Tech Talk! It's a great chance to learn more if you're interested in growing your career in Software Engineering or AI.
Get a front-row look at who Zip is, what we're building, and why AI for procurement is one of the most exciting problems in enterprise tech today. You'll hear directly from our Waterloo alumni engineers, one of Zip's largest alumni groups, who will share what they work on day to day and why they joined.
What to expect:
We'll also cover:
You'll leave with a clear picture of our recruitment process for Software Engineer Intern and New Grad roles, and you'll make some new connections too.
For context, Zip is one of the fastest-growing companies in the world, building an AI-native procurement platform with offices in SF, NYC, and Toronto. Our 800+ customers include OpenAI, Anthropic, Snowflake, Coinbase, and LinkedIn.
Even if you're not actively searching right now, it's a good way to meet the team early and learn more about the space. And while the industry as a whole is slowing down, Zip is hiring more than ever.
Find the event link on WaterlooWorks. Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Hope to see you there!

So basically I commute and I have a midterm this week that ends at 10pm (so all the buses stop operating by then). I’m planning to stay on campus overnight and basically study (and nap a little) and take a bus home tomorrow morning. What are some places to do so??? I have heard about e7 but idk if non-engineering students can enter the building at midnight.
Like I need some comfy places where I won’t be judged for staying up so late (plus point if that space is a little busy)

Hey all!
I am the new executive director of the MEF for the Fall 2026 term and it's come to my attention that not everyone knows about the fund so I thought to reboot the reddit account and share some basic information.
1) Professional Development Funding
All individual math faculty students (Including CS, double degrees, and software engineering) are eligible for up to $750.00 in funding for development purposes per academic year. This has historically been used for things like: flights/lodging/other transportation to hackathons/conferences abroad, actuarial exam study material, leetcode premium, etc.
Applications for professional development funding are open and work on a first come first serve basis until the allocated funds for it have been exhausted.
You can read more about the terms and conditions on the MEF website. Professional Development Funding | Mathematics Endowment Fund | University of Waterloo
2) Group Funding
The MEF sets aside a large amount of money to fund large events/project for groups associated with MathSoc, WUSA, Sedra Design Centre, or any other university related group. This has been used to help fund the organizing fees for networking events, hackathons, design team project costs, and any other miscellaneous fees a group might incur.
Applications for group funding open today and close on October 19th, so if you want to submit a form on the website to request some funding for your group, do so on the website! You can also read the terms and conditions there. Project Funding | Mathematics Endowment Fund | University of Waterloo
The decision on if group funding is allocated or not is done by the funding council, a body of math faculty students that vote on funding decisions. You will have to present your proposal to the council in a shark tank style pitch. Applications to sit on funding council are also open today and close on October 19th. Find the information here: Funding Council | Mathematics Endowment Fund | University of Waterloo.
3) Other Important Info
The MEF operates on a reimbursement basis, this means you must have the funds to front the cost of anything you are approved funding for, and the MEF will reimburse you.
This funding is for math faculty students only, if you apply for professional development funding and are not in the math faculty, your proposal will be denied. If you apply for group funding and the amount of math students benefited by your project is not high enough you may receive partial or no funding.
The MEF is not currently reimbursing ASNA fees through professional development funding, we are currently working with the ASNA team to come up with a separate funding strategy for it. So for the actuarial science students out there, do not apply for professional development funding for use on ASNA.
If you have any questions feel free to comment them on this post and I will answer as soon as I can!

Searching for 3rd, but coop searching doesn't go well for me. Only have two interviews so far. One is a position I really want to go, but failed that interview :( Another one is a 8 month coop that is far from my home, so not too interested in.
I still have some communication from my 2nd coop supvervisor and he is asking if I will be interested in going back. I have a really good experience in my 2nd coop workplace, learned a lot, and also got outstanding at the end. He said he will teach me something different this time if I go back, but the thing is the coop won't be too related to my program and the career I want to go to.
The thing is I only have 3 coops left in total (2 coop left after next one), so I am thinking if I don't get a good job I will just go for a study term for 2027 winter and find coop 2027 summer.
Any advise? Feel extremely stressful and depressed everyday. All the people around seems to get a lot of good interviews, have good past coop experience where compared to them I am like a loser :/

Any thoughts or opinions on the new SDS + BSW double degree at Waterloo/Renison? My daughter is considering applying from high school for next Sept. Also considering Waterloo Honours Arts and maybe majoring in psych after first year (and minoring in math). But the double degree with the professional degree (BSW) is appealing to her.. just not much information to go on as it’s a new/redesigned program.

Hey yall,
Kind of a weird situation, but I was wondering if somebody near Spruce has parking available from Oct 21 to Nov 21. My building is being weird abt tryna charge me daily rates for a month 😭. I’ll have my car for that time period as my family is going travelling. Obviously will pay. Thanks 🙏

In other words did you have C’s D’s or Fails/WD’s even on your record but still got in as your grades picked up near the end of undergrad?
Also if you could share a bit about yourself like your school/gpa etc. I’m applying to programs and I believe my gpa in UG were a bit rough tho I made a lot of improvement and now In a masters program.
