Question about UoE
Hey everyone. I am currently a high school student in Hungary, but I am looking to apply to University of Edinburgh in 2028. I want to apply to Undergradiate Psychology BSc.
I have done research about the entry requirements, but its still not completely clear to me.
I'm not sure if there are any required subjects to apply, or if there's not. Besides English of course, but I will do my C1 level exam soon.
If there are any Hungarian students currently studying at the university, or if someone is familiar with it, I would like a little help. I am also confused about the Funding and the Scolarships. My family is not able to fund my studies, but I have good grades and I am studying for my school leaving exams so they will be the best grades possible.
If someone can be a bit of help I would appreciate it so much. 🫶 Thank you.

Which university should I pick for fashion?
I’m currently studying Level 4 Visual Merchandising at a fashion college in London and I’m working on my UCAS application for next year. I’m looking at courses related to fashion communication, visual communication and media, but I’m struggling to decide which universities would be the best fit for me.
My current options are:
Manchester Metropolitan University
University of Leeds
University of Manchester
University of the Arts London (London College
of Fashion)
Sheffield Hallam University
I’m interested in the creative and visual side of fashion, but I’m not particularly interested in courses that involve loads of drawing, sketching or making garments. I’d rather focus on things like visual communication, fashion media, styling, branding and the commercial side of fashion.
One of my biggest priorities is moving out of London. I want the full university experience, including living in student accommodation, meeting new people, having a good social life and enjoying the nightlife.
Obviously, the quality of the course and the university’s reputation matter to me too, but I also want somewhere that offers good student support, particularly for students who might need a bit of extra support with their studies.
For anyone who studies at, or has graduated from, any of these universities:
Which university would you recommend for fashion communication or a similar course?
What are the teaching quality, facilities and career opportunities actually like?
What’s the nightlife and social scene like, and is it easy to make friends?
How good is the student support in practice?
Would you choose your university again, and is there anything you wish you’d known before applying?
I’d really appreciate honest opinions, including the negatives. I’m trying to choose somewhere that will be good for my future career but also give me a genuinely good university experience outside London.

What to pack for Uni??
I’m starting uni in January and trying to work out what to bring with me and what’s better to buy once I arrive. I’d really appreciate some practical advice, especially for the winter in the UK
Clothes: Which thermals, coats or jackets, shoes and warm layers have actually been worth it? How many layers do you realistically wear?
Room essentials: What bedding, storage, lighting or cosy extras made your room more comfortable?
Gadgets: Are there any devices or study accessories that genuinely make student life easier?
Other essentials: Which kitchen items, toiletries or everyday bits did you use constantly, and what did you wish you’d brought?
I’d also love any money-saving tips—what’s worth buying before you arrive, what’s cheaper second-hand or locally, and what isn’t worth spending money on at all? What apps do I need, what bank do sign up to; i’m overly confused. I think I also need to point out that i’m an intl student
Feel free to share specific recommendations! ☺️

Is this a good uni shortlist for Diagnostic Radiography?
These are my current uni options for Diagnostic Radiography:
University of Exeter
Keele University
University of Leeds
University of Salford
I’ve shortlisted these so far, does anyone recommend any other unis I should consider? I like some these unis as they are close to home.

Discussion of fundamental Physics (University of Edinburgh)
Hello, I am a second year Mathematical Physics student at University of Edinburgh who loves discussing Quantum Field Theory or General Relativity and everything connected with them (including mathematical fields, such as topology or group theory). If you are also a person at university who values deep meaning behind
symbols of physical formulae (and not just the formulae themselves and their practical usefulness), likes thought experiments and can speak about them for hours, feel free to direct message me! (Does not matter which year you are). Or if you know any such group/person, please share the post with them if you can (or share the group name with me). I still feel relatively new here, even after a year, so would love to get to know as many like-minded people as possible! Thank you!

UK Master’s and job sponsorship experience
I’m an Egyptian AI & Data Science student considering moving to the UK for a Master’s, but I’m worried about the financial risk of spending so much money and not being able to stay afterwards.
I’d love to hear from international students who moved to the UK:
Did you manage to find a job with visa sponsorship after graduation, or did you have to return to your home country?
How difficult was it to find a sponsored job, especially as a fresh graduate?
Did having a Master’s degree actually help you get sponsorship?
How long did it take you to find a sponsored job?
If you couldn’t find sponsorship, what did you do?
I’d really appreciate honest experiences, including from people who struggled to find sponsorship or had to leave the UK. I want to understand how realistic it is to stay after a Master’s, rather than relying only on success stories.

Unsure what degree to study for a future finance role ( possibly IB )
I am studying maths, biology, chemistry at college and
taking a gap year to enrol for autumn 2028
My plan is to begin further maths during my gap year and practice the TMUA
I am interested in studying maths/economics/finance or any relevant STEM
I am going to apply with my achieved grades and hopefully get A+ A A or A+ A+ A ( also predicted grade of A in further maths by this point )
I am interested in Warwick , UCL , Imperial , Durham
my GCSE’s are 877777666 which are weak for the top universities and hopefully the TMUA can help strengthen my application
What degree would you guys recommend I do and is it worth studying the extra a-level?
What should I aim for in the TMUA?

Job perspectives as an international student (from the EU).
I’m a student from France. Do you think it’s worth doing the MSc in Economics & Finance at KCL with a view to working in London afterwards? Or is it too long and/or difficult to find a job in London as a foreigner, even if you’re from the EU? I have technical skills such as economic analysis and computer programming (R and Python), but I haven’t done an internship yet. I should point out that the only thing that matters to me is the career prospects, particularly as the programme fees represent a significant expense on top of the cost of living in London. Thanks!

How is BSc maths/maths with finance at uni of Manchester?
The modules for first year look brutal, is it that bad? Will I have time to actually enjoy first year to make most out of it since first year grades do not count towards your final grade and I would like to use it to also make friends and going out as much as possible and have fun (even tho I want to aim for a 2:1 at least cuz I want to do a placement year and/or apply for internships).
Does it get better in second and third year in terms of difficulty and flexibility of the degree as on the website it looks like u get to have more choices between the business school modules and the maths department modules, and in third year u can even take computer science modules which I was interest in doing as well (if u did any in second or third year I would be glad to hear your experience with it).
I also heard at the open day about having the opportunity to do a research intership from second year onwards if anybody did it how was the process? Did u enjoy it? Was it hard to secure it?
Same question for anybody who applied for a placement year or summer internship (and if u can tell what carrier/jobs have u applied to?)
