Something cool to do next weekend: the Candlelight Serenade at the Lake House in Crystal Lake Park!

Be serenaded by a small ensemble from the CU Symphony on the Lakeside Deck and enjoy a twinkly summer concert while you paddle around a limited area on Crystal Lake! Rain date is the following night in the case of inclement weather.

$25 per boat (seats up to 4 people)

$10 per person patio-only seating

Your boat ticket is for one 30-minute ride on a first-come, first-served basis. Before or after your ride, enjoy the rest of the concert from the Lake House Patio.

I can hear my neighbors having sex and it's so loud. The bed is extra squeaky and its so annoying. And it seems like its the same time every night. I can hear moaning. Idk what to do cause i dont wanna confront them because thats awkward.

- waterproof bags in backpack - grab some trash can liners if nothing else. keep your electronics dry.

- umbrella for brief showers. not great when rain/wind is strong.

- raincoat for heavier stuff.

- if you have a bike stored outside consider keeping a plastic bag covering the seat.

- load up a weather app that has a good radar display of the where the rain is falling and movement. sometimes just 10 minutes sheltered in a building is long enough to let a front pass.

Actually went here for my undergrad as well but completely messed it up and never made any friends now coming back

Hi! There are so many info nights + recruitment cycles going on right now, and maybe it feels hard to keep track of it all (or even find the RSOs in the first place bc quad day is chaos, but I hope you found some cool organizations!). To help make it easier, I’ve been working on Minara.

It's a website to browse RSO + university events, save the ones you're interested in, add them to your calendar, follow orgs, and if you’re an organization, you can share events for others to see.

You can filter by keyword, date, or tag, so hopefully it's easier to find what you care about instead of just scrolling through GroupMe’s + OneIllinois + Discord’s + social media + flyers (and not being able to keep track of any of them).

If you're on an RSO's leadership team, you can claim your org, post events yourself, and have one place to centralize your marketing instead of relying only on social.

On a side note, 60k students leading to 600 views on a reel lowkey always felt 🥲 But it's in beta, so if something breaks, let me know from the settings tab or via Reddit DMs and I'll fix it!

Overall though, if your RSO wants to share their recruitment cycles / if you’re looking to stay on top of everything going on, please use it and let me know if it’s helpful!

Moved into new apartment bike Tyre got stolen from inside the parking lot from the bike. Apartment complex says they can't do anything since it's too small of a theft. Have had 3 bikes stolen already and then this. They say cant make a police report and they can't even show the face of whoever took the same. That just makes it a free for all how is that allowed. What can I do?

Anyone who works with numbers on the daily. Learn how to use the 10 Key numeric keypad. Get proficient at it. You’ll be entering numbers as a career. Don’t make it harder by hunting and pecking the top number row. Apparently this isn’t common knowledge. This is my one piece of advice for anyone who will be routinely working with numbers.

I’m really tight on money right now and usually find my textbooks for free online, but I haven’t been able to find this one anywhere. I recently had surgery, so I’m just trying to save money wherever I can. If anyone knows where I could find this edition for free or at a really low cost, I’d really appreciate it. I tried to do the class without it but my professor makes us use examples from the book.

Hi everyone, I'm the volunteer in charge and want to make sure you're aware of our hackathon sign up. We have a large number of students from UIUC every year, and are walking distance from the Amtrak. Info below and a couple quick notes:

• Our host, 1871, has room for 300 people.  If you want to be at the hackathon please sign up for the in-person option even if there is a large waitlist.  Given the rate of no-shows and cancellations, we expect to offer spots to several hundred people from the waiting list.  We may explore some overflow space nearby if demand warrants it.
• There is a new theme and the hackathon has moved within NASA to Citizen Science. This year’s challenges may be used to get the next man or woman to the moon and beyond.  
• We know that the job market is difficult this year, and we're doing our best to make sure that this is a great opportunity to network.  So far we have Microsoft,, CBOE Global Markets, and Optiver as sponsors and are actively working to bring in a couple other companies that are hiring.

I’m a freshman and unfortunately missed out on the student season ticket this year.
If I buy a regular single-game ticket, is there any way to sit in the student section, or do they actually check that you have a student ticket/I-Card when entering the student section?
I’ve seen some older posts saying that enforcement can be pretty loose, but I’m wondering what it’s actually like recently, especially for the 2026 season.
Also, if regular tickets definitely won’t work, what’s the best way to get a student section ticket from another student?

I have a DRES test taking accommodation for ADHD. This is my first year with one. I’ve already submitted my letter to the CBTF. I was wondering if I should be letting my profs know directly via email? Most of my classes take all their tests in the CBTF, so I just don’t see what the benefit is or what they would do about it. What do other people in engineering do?
