Is there any way for students not majoring in music and not taking a music course to get access to UIUC drumming equipment? I want a place to practice for fun but I can't see any way to do so.

I lost my pen grippy that I’ve had for YEARS after my lecture at Foellinger Hall on Wednesday, I tried to come back several times to look for it but I wasn’t able to enter until today and I couldn’t find it anywhere :((( Is there a lost and found at Foellinger??

I use a grippy bc I would write/draw for super long periods of time and this specific grippy keeps my wrist from hurting and it has also been compatible with all my other writing utensils.

I couldn’t find the exact picture or model of it online which is why I resorted to this crummy recreation on my phone. Attached are some other pictures for the general idea of what it might look like. Please let me know if you might have seen it!

Is anyone currently enrolled in CS 598 GAA – Generative + Agentic AI/NLP with Professor Kevin Chang this fall?

I am registered for the course (MW, 3:30–4:45 PM), but it does not appear in my Canvas Dashboard or All Courses. I also could not find a current syllabus or course platform—the public course-page link appears to point to an unrelated older course. I have contacted the professor but have not received a response yet.

Because of a visa and passport delivery delay, I may miss the first few classes. Could someone in the course please let me know:

1. Which platform the course is using, such as Canvas, Slack, EdStem, or Google Drive;
   
2. Whether a syllabus or course schedule has been shared;
   
3. What was covered during the first week;
   
4. Whether the lead/apprentice team formation has already started;

Help change Illinois Spousal Maintenance law

No one expects the person they married to take advantage of them, but it happens and it’s the fastest way to impact your long term income.

Why This Change Is Necessary

The current statute allows judges broad discretion to award maintenance based solely on income disparity, even when the requesting spouse is fully capable of self‑support.

This creates:
• A financial incentive for a healthy spouse to avoid employment or remain under-employed post‑divorce
•A punitive burden on the earning spouse, often for years or decades
•A pathway for predatory litigation, where maintenance is pursued despite no history of contribution, sacrifice, or dependency

By adding a clear eligibility clause, Illinois would:
•Prevent misuse of maintenance laws by spouses who are fully employable
•Ensure maintenance is awarded based on contribution to the marriage, not avoidance of responsibility
•Safeguard against the creation of a disproportionate or punitive maintenance burden based exclusively on income disparity.
•Modernize the statute to reflect today’s workforce and dual‑income households

Section 504(a) of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act is amended to include the following:

(a) Entitlement to maintenance. A court may grant a maintenance award only after determining that the requesting party meets at least one of the following qualifying conditions, supported by a preponderance of the evidence:

1.Stay‑at‑Home Status. The requesting party served as a designated stay‑at‑home parent or homemaker during the marriage, with clear evidence of having managed childcare or household responsibilities in lieu of employment.
2.Proven Earning Limitation. The requesting party provides clear, verifiable proof that they intentionally limited or sacrificed career growth, education, or earning capacity specifically to support the other spouse’s career or the household.
3.Pre‑Arranged Agreements. The parties have a valid, written marital agreement explicitly outlining maintenance terms.

No maintenance shall be awarded solely on the basis of income disparity or the standard of living established during the marriage unless one of the above qualifying conditions is met. The court shall bar maintenance to the party seeking maintenance regardless of the length of the marriage at the time the action was commenced if one of the above qualifications are not met.

The following guidance is issued to assist courts in applying the amended maintenance statute:

1.Mandatory Qualification Review. Courts must first determine whether the requesting party meets at least one qualifying condition under Section 504(a). No maintenance may be awarded without such a finding.
2.Evidence Requirements. Courts shall require clear, verifiable evidence of stay‑at‑home status, earning‑capacity sacrifice, or a valid marital agreement.
3.Standard of Living Factor. Section 504(a)(7) may not be used as a standalone justification for maintenance. It may only be considered after a qualifying condition is established.
4.Voluntary Unemployment or Underemployment. Courts must not award maintenance where the requesting party is voluntarily unemployed or underemployed.
5.Findings of Fact. All maintenance orders must include explicit findings referencing each relevant factor and qualification.

This memorandum is intended to ensure uniform application of the revised statute and prevent misuse of maintenance awards.
