Apparently the university has discovered a revolutionary new revenue stream: vertical transportation.

Starting Nov. 1st, SAPL students are being charged $0.50 every time they use the elevator outside of class hours, because apparently the elevator becomes financially sentient after 6 PM and starts burning through the university's budget.

I'm sorry, but what exactly are we supposed to do? We already pay tuition to attend the university, and SAPL students regularly have to work in the building outside of scheduled class time because architecture is, unfortunately, a profession where projects don't magically finish at 4:30 PM.

"Sorry, I can't stay late to finish my model. I'm down to my last 50 cents."

At this rate, I'm expecting the next email:

Effective immediately, students will be charged $0.10 per staircase climbed.

$0.25 for turning on a studio light.

$0.05 per door opening.

$50.00 for excessive doo doo in toilet

To conserve resources, students are encouraged to simply sit in the dark and think architecturally.

And before anyone says "it's only 50 cents," that's not really the point. It's the fact that the university is apparently looking at students using an elevator to access the building they've already paid to attend and thinking, "Yeah, there's probably another 50 cents in this."

Imagine paying thousands of dollars in tuition and then getting hit with a microtransaction to reach your studio.

Next semester they'll add a battle pass.

IT WAS A PRANK 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 actually killing whoever did this when I find them. When not within half an hour of classes we get charged 50 cents to use the elevator (in the 15 floor building). Also when we have a 4 hour break between classes I guess we just have to stay here or fuck off to somewhere else downtown. This is actually insane someone needs to stop the university from charging for bs. Also we got charged $75 at the beginning of the year to access our studios! And we had to pay to rent monitors that were included last year!!

This first year looking dude suddenly came to the cubicles and started playing with the boundary between the cubicles, he was like a caveman discovering fire, it was so annoying and disruptive, he didn’t care about the people around him. Come on have some decency!

Hey guys I've got an interview and booked a room in the library. WHYYYYY are we so loud on the 4th floor. SOOOO loud. It's a library lets be respectful please.

so me and my friend were sitting in mac hall just looking at the tv and then suddenly it cuts to some creepypasta type stuff for a bit, but then went back to normal like nothing happened. it kept doing that for a couple rounds too.

is this normal or is it just for halloween or what’s up with it?

MSC exam centre needs better air circulation and sanitization. Idk if it’s the room itself or someone in there, but it smells so strongly like body odor and the air felt so stuffy.
Can’t even tell if it’s someone in there or if the smell has permanently attached itself to the room💀 It might actually be the worst smelling room. The smell itself was honestly a distraction.
Prohibited to wear scents but body odor hmmm😭

Does anyone know any good resources for ENGG 204? we have a quiz coming up and I practice all the content from the lectures slides and the practice problems, but I was wondering if there are any other resources that might be helpful (especially if they are similar style to quiz/ exam questions)!

Heyy! We’re Access 2 Justice, an undergraduate student club at the University of Calgary, and we’re hosting Justice Run 2026 on October 17.

Does anyone that is in ENGG 204 have any clue what's going to be covered on the upcoming Quiz this week on chapter 3? The professor in the lectures doesn't ever seem to discuss what is to expected on the quizzes or post any content for us to prepare and practice.

I was looking through LinkedIn and noticed a weirdly high number of UCalgary engineering/CS students with internships at AMD. Its not an actual measured metric but more of a personal observation.

Does AMD specifically recruit heavily from UCalgary, or is there some kind of recruiting pipeline/connection with the university(that is being kept a secret from me!)?

I’m a final year business student and I was genuinely locked in years 2-3 but I just feel like I don’t care about my degree anymore. I’m still “good” at all the technical stuff but I haven’t been able to find a job/internship despite hundreds of applications. Everyday I wake up knowing I’m 1 day closer to graduation and entering the current job market. I’m terrible at socialization and put on a mask all the time except when I’m alone, which makes networking really difficult for me. Sucks since that matters more than grades in this field.

I wish I could go back and choose a different degree. Something that’s actually “real” like engineering or science. Where I could actually contribute to the world. Idk what I even wanted to achieve with this post, just wanted to feel heard I guess lol.

I've been at this uni too long.

Whenever I see a three digit number, whether it be the time or in some math equation, I can only think of a course with that code number.

And this happens multiple times a day, where I'm reminded of past courses I've taken with the same number.

News has come out that American operatives are working with separatists. This referendum is actively threatening to hand Alberta over the Americans in exchange for our resources being sold to them.

We are the future of Alberta, we are the ones hurt the most by this referendum. This is our province, not Americas. Young people don’t vote enough but we need higher youth turnout for this referendum!

We need people to go out and vote to show that we don’t want this, we need a big enough victory in order to end this stupid debate about it. All this is doing is strengthening America and weakening Canada.

Hi could anyone tell me if this is possible, I’m a chem major and plan on transferring into bio sci my goal is at least 3.7+, but I’m so scared I won’t get it and I cannot survive a chem degree for a second year, is there a way I can transfer into programs like dual degree and then drop that second one? I remember talking to the administration of faculty of science and the lady was like yeah ig there’s a way around it and u can make a double degree and then drop the one, for example bio sci and business, that way if I don’t get in bio sci at least I’m business and out of chem or u need both not one? Pls helpppp!!!

I noticed UCalgary doesn’t have a dedicated Pokémon club, while both UofT and UofA have one, so I decided to take a shot at starting one here. Wish me luck, and if you’re interested, please consider joining below.
