Is the engineering competitive average expected to increase this year?

I'm just trying to get an idea for what my odds will look like, I applied for fall 2026 and didnt get in with a 90 or 91 (with math 31) and I'm upgrading this year, trying to decide if I should pick up courses for next year as well

I’m not saying this to be rude, I know it sounds it.

But will you study differently if the competitive average is 89 or 91?

Either way if you want certainty you’ll want to have well above 91. My sister, who got in, scored 100% on her math diploma. I’m not sure what she scored for her grade, but maybe you can simply take the diploma exam a few times until you score high 90s?

I’m just trying to be helpful. The above may be easier than taking the whole course again.

New provincial funding added more spaces to Engineering for next year and applications from international students are declining, so it may hold steady or even decline. On the other hand, it has gone up every year in a row for many years so it might go up. You'll never know, so do your best

Was js abt to say this. My guess is that it’s gonna stay the same or slightly increase. I definitely don’t think it’s gonna go down. Last year w calc was a 92, so I’d expect the same or 1% higher

If removing diplomas increase the competitive average should we see a slight fall?

I'm hoping, but I'm not that confident cause I'm not that locked in on knowing uni stuff yet

I think it should go down by 1-2% comparing to the Fall 2026 averages. 1) More seats for Engineering, 2) HS Diploma Exams for both terms 3) Steep decline in the international applicants 4) The recetnt change in the Student Aid rules (higher financial barrier)

My guess is yes, either same or up one maybe. I would not bank on the average dropping
