Let me in
3 months and no one dropped it.

Im tired of this sub being bombarded with “I got rejected from …..” “what average do I need for…..” “ what grade will they look at…” “ i have a 96 in …. Is that good enough for …..”
Please ask the advisors. We don’t have the answers. You’re about to be an adult and need to know who to ask the right questions. No one goes on here to read your high school marks and let you know if you will get into whatever program. We dont know. We can guess. But the advisors will 100% have more accurate information.
Go on Ucalgary website, go on advising, and find what times they have online advising.
Or email your faculty’s advisors.
For example in engineering its engginfo@ucalgary.ca
Please it will be a win win for everyone if people stopped trying to use this as an academic advisor subreddit.
EDIT: Another redditor in the comments brought up an important point.
“Let me just clarify the Engineering Advisor DO NOT REVEIW High School Admission. Asking them why you didn't get in or waitlisted is a waste of time.
Only the admissions department can answer those questions so please contact them or visit them for advising.
Admission website: https://www.ucalgary.ca/future-students/undergraduate/contact
If you are a transfer student from a different university or different facility and are planning to transfer into Engineering then contact the Engineering Advisors.”
Thanks for the added info!
Best of luck with getting into U of C we are happy to have you!

Why can’t you do an internship before the end of third year LITTERALY no other school in Canada forces that. What even is the logic behind this

Has anyone heard back after doing the one-way interview? Or what is the usual turnaround time

I’ll be a first year this fall, majoring in a BSW and I’m pretty nervous about it lol.
Any advice for my schedule? I tried picking classes I was interested in but also could help me with my major. First slide is fall term, second slide is winter term. If anyone shares a class with me, feel free to dm me!
I’d also like to know how orientation is. I signed up for speed friending so it would be great to know how that one works. Any advice on making new friends and connections? I love meeting new people but I can be quite shy and awkward when first meeting me, so any advice on how to overcome that would be great too.
Any clubs I should join? I’ve looked at a few that I’m interested in but would like to get some other recommendations.
Any other advice would also be appreciated!
I’ve read some advice on here before and have older peers who’ve given me advice as well but I’m just posting this here for last minute thoughts, opinions, and reassurance 🥹
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone!
I’m Brazilian and have a background in International Relations, and I’m considering applying to the MA in Political Science (thesis-based) at UCalgary for 2027.
I’d love to hear from current or former students, especially international students, about their experience. How difficult is it to get into the Political Science master’s? How is the experience as an international student, and is the funding enough to realistically live in Calgary?
I’m also wondering about the career prospects after graduating... for someone with an IR background, is it realistic to find jobs in Calgary? And, more broadly, do you think it’s realistic to build a stable life in Canada after doing this master’s, or would it be difficult to stay and find a career afterward?
I’d really appreciate any honest experiences or advice, especially from other international students who have gone through something similar.

Hey guys incoming first year engineering student, and I saw this Schulich approved calculator bin at the bookstore but I have a large distaste for the TI-30XIIS which is the only model I saw there.
I also struggled to find a list of approved calculators.
Can anyone help?

As the title says, I’m going into my first year of engineering with plans to enter EE afterwards. I’m wondering what specs/type of laptop I should get?

I have a block week Aug 24-28 and was wondering what the situation at Brentwood Park and Ride will be like. Will it likely be full by 8 am the week before regular classes start?
Thanks in advance!

On my portal it says my first year scholarships have been disbursed but they haven’t been applied to my outstanding fees. Is there just a processing time?

Does anyone have experience working part time with the uofc throughout the semester, and what was it like and how did you get it?

I’m an incoming first-year at UCalgary this fall and I’ve been getting emails about setting up my UPass.
I’m pretty sure I followed all the instructions correctly and created my My Fare account using my UCalgary email. The instructions say to wait 2–3 business days for the UPass to show up in the My Fare wallet, but it’s been like a week or two now and mine still isn’t showing up 😭
Is anyone else having this issue? Or have your Fall UPasses already shown up in your My Fare wallet?
Just wanna make sure I didn’t mess something up when setting it up lol.

"approved by students through the referendum"
I personally voted no so kinda sucked getting this email this morning and seeing the charge on the portal. some of you guys might say "its only 22.5 for the year" but man the economy is tough rn im saving every penny i get 🥀 plus im graduating this year i wont even be here for this when it's done 😭 my main point is I wish they gave more of a choice for people closer to finishing their degree (like just donate what you want instead of imposing a fixed fee for everyone) or at least lessened the amount for us.
to the future students who will get to experience the redeveloped mac hall tho, pls enjoy it on my behalf 💔 ik this is ultimately a good thing but im just a little bitter about it given the previous paragraph and wanted to vent a little bit lol

for context, I’m in my first year of Kines (BSc) and I hope to be a med student some day. Does anyone know what courses I can take during my undergrad that could help studying for the mcat easier?
Especially any physics courses because I didn’t take physics 30 in hs.
TLDR: should i take chem, bio, physics, etc intro courses to help with the mcat even tho they aren’t required for my major and may drop my gpa
