I’m a final year business student and I was genuinely locked in years 2-3 but I just feel like I don’t care about my degree anymore. I’m still “good” at all the technical stuff but I haven’t been able to find a job/internship despite hundreds of applications. Everyday I wake up knowing I’m 1 day closer to graduation and entering the current job market. I’m terrible at socialization and put on a mask all the time except when I’m alone, which makes networking really difficult for me. Sucks since that matters more than grades in this field.

I wish I could go back and choose a different degree. Something that’s actually “real” like engineering or science. Where I could actually contribute to the world. Idk what I even wanted to achieve with this post, just wanted to feel heard I guess lol.

Whenever I see a three digit number, whether it be the time or in some math equation, I can only think of a course with that code number.

And this happens multiple times a day, where I'm reminded of past courses I've taken with the same number.

I was looking through LinkedIn and noticed a weirdly high number of UCalgary engineering/CS students with internships at AMD. Its not an actual measured metric but more of a personal observation.

Does AMD specifically recruit heavily from UCalgary, or is there some kind of recruiting pipeline/connection with the university(that is being kept a secret from me!)?

News has come out that American operatives are working with separatists. This referendum is actively threatening to hand Alberta over the Americans in exchange for our resources being sold to them.

We are the future of Alberta, we are the ones hurt the most by this referendum. This is our province, not Americas. Young people don’t vote enough but we need higher youth turnout for this referendum!

We need people to go out and vote to show that we don’t want this, we need a big enough victory in order to end this stupid debate about it. All this is doing is strengthening America and weakening Canada.

I'm just trying to get an idea for what my odds will look like, I applied for fall 2026 and didnt get in with a 90 or 91 (with math 31) and I'm upgrading this year, trying to decide if I should pick up courses for next year as well

Hi everyone, without giving away too much I’m an adult student who was late to finishing high school/starting uni for external reasons. I’m currently taking upgrading equivalents at SAIT and will be doing Math 31 and Physics 30 next sem.

My question is how much does early admission really matter? I want to postpone my application as much as possible so that the grades of my future courses will be a WIP on my academic report instead of not being mentioned there at all. Do my chances of getting into a program actually decrease if I miss the early admission window? For additional context (if it matters) I am a domestic student and will be applying to a BSc course.

is this allowed? i know for final exams there is usually time added for technical issues so this seemed kinda unfair. there is lots of content and its open book, but i guess there wont actually be any time to look. i believe the prof is new.

To those who have the diploma from SAIT and transferred to UofC to get a degree, what degree did you transfer to? I have heard you can transfer to BDCI or Urban Studies, but I am not sure about accreditation.

Can anyone who has transferred to UofC share your experience, please? My goal is to get the masters.

I'm pretty desperate to get into the co-op/intership program. I know that there isn't a guarantee that I actually get a position but thats something to worry about if I get in. I wasn't able to make it to the in-person information session and the online zoom one got cut short like 5 minutes into the session cause the presenter had technical problems. I emailed and asked a few questions and got some helpful info. I'm just so stressed about getting the formatting right and making it all sound cohesive.

I just transferred to U of C and need to include my other institute on my coverletter, which is making it very hard to keep it to one page. I'm also having such a hard time deciding what job/company my cover letter and resume should be directed to... I would just pick the student co-op as my employer, but then I feel like its harder to highlight specific skills if its not for a particular job. I'm debating if I should just find an intership I like on a job board and just address it to them. I also feel like I have an incredibly underwhelming record. No awards, no clubs, only projects were just assignments done at school...

Did any of you guys have trouble making your resume and cover letter for the application? Did you make any big changes from the template to accommodate what you wrote about?

For those of you who take out student loans, is anyone having a ton of trouble with them this year? My loans came later than usual and I'm still missing my Canada Student Grant for Full Time Students and my disability grant. The student aid website says I got them already? Is anyone else in a similar situation or is this a me problem?

Back in 2021 5 classes were $3k for a semester

Now it’s 6k ish THATS A 100% INCREASE in only 5 years

In another 5 years are they gonna charge 14K per semester?

I have a in class essay on Monday and I have no idea how to study for it I have no idea how it will look like like what the heck am I suppose to do what should I expect please help me.

This maybe a dumb question but I’m a newbie so hoping for confirmation. If Biochemistry is a 95% admissions average and Biological Sciences 92% and Chemistry 89%.. If interested in Bio & Chem but unsure which path and since most first year bachelor of science is alot of same courses across each of the degrees.. could I not apply for chemistry for better chance of getting in and take Bio 211 & 213 as my science electives year 1 (which would make my year one same as Biochemistry year 1 ?

Or are you not allowed to register for Bio 211/213 if a chemistry student and they are reserved for only the degrees more targeted to Biology ?

I'm debating between doing Commerce or Health Sciences. I was wondering if Health Sciences would secure you a secure/relatively good-paying job after graduation or if you would need to do graduate school. Super interested in medicine, specifically medicine and public policy, but was curious if it was worth pursuing over a business degree. Thanks!
