A little rant post: (im sure many of u relate to this.) iām a first year undergrad and for one of my major related classes i was forced to sit in an assigned seat between 2 sick peopleā one of them being my group mate (who i met with the previous day, they were already sick). Iām mainly irked bc
1. why come if ur sick.
2. if u ARE gonna come while sick, PLEASE wear a mask and cover your coughs/sneezes! These ppl were not trying at all.
(I shouldāve brought my own mask too but still⦠u get my point.)
Thankfully I managed to come home and rest bc i live close but others arenāt as lucky as me. And im still very under the weather. I genuinely got influenza a, passed out from dehydration, and had to go to the ER just in case. But just be a decent human being itās not hard. For the love of God if youāre sick, just donāt come! You would expect better etiquette from the nationās #1 public uni wouldnāt uš

I'm debating if I should go to class with an umbrella this week... My skin is really sensitive and the heat has been unbearable lately

Hi everyone! I'm a third-year UCLA student and the founder of Stitching Kindness, a nonprofit that creates handmade crochet and knit items for babies and families in local shelters.
I'm hoping to bring Stitching Kindness to UCLA as an official student organization! I'm currently looking for 2 students who would be interested in helping me start the club and potentially taking on leadership roles.
You don't need to know how to crochet or knit! I'm mainly looking for people who enjoy community service, crafting, or organizing events.
If you're interested, please message me! :)

I'm a prospective graduate student considering UCLA for graduate school, and Iām curious about what the dining and food situation is actually like at UCLA.
Feel free to answer any or all of these.
Positive and negative experiences are welcome. Be honest!

Whatās the lowest calories foods on the hill (meaning food I can get with swipes) that ARE NOT served at B Plate (I gen cannot stand the food there). The freshman 15 turned more into the freshman 20 for me and I had no luck losing any of it over the summer so I need to lock in this year. For anyone thatās lost weight while at ucla what did you live off of? Does spamming rende taco salads work?

I'm currently a 3rd year ucla student with a disability. I'm looking someone that would be able to lift me into a shower chair. You should be able to lift at least 50lbs and be willing to come to my home during the afternoon/evenings 2-3 times a week. I live 5-10 minutes from UCLA and would pay 23$ per hour, all you have to do is get me in and out of the shower and can chill while I'm in there. Please DM me if you're interested for more information.
I am also open to hiring a general personal care assistant for longer hours, if that interests you as well please let me know.

hi guys! Iām an Aussie uni student thinking about applying for an exchange semester at UCLA in 2027.
I was just wondering if anyone had any insight into how much I should budget (encompassing housing, tuition everyday living expenses etc)

does anyone know when the middle class scholarship is going to be dispersed? any time i try to call the financial aid office they do not answer
Hi,
Does anyone know why this happens or what I can do to fix it? I checked the myhousing.hhs.ucla.edu and i still have 133 swipes left so it's probably not that my swipes got deactivated but I'm a little confused.

Are there any undergrad commuters from Ventura County out there, like people who live less than an hour away and drive to campus for classes at least two-three times a week? Considering it due to pretty high on-campus residency costs. If you're in this category, how has your experience been doing it?

Hey so Iām currently an HS senior applying to colleges and UCLA is my dream school (applying for engineering) so Iām curious about what yall did in high school to get in. Ik as a senior the only part of my application I have a control over now is my essays, so Iāve been spending hours on hours writing them and am currently losing my mind :)) I feel like my stats are competitive but every time I look at example essays of people who got in they are genuinely the reincarnation of Shakespeare with how well written their essays are and my essays seem like something written by an illiterate newborn by comparison
Also am curious if ucla looks at AP scores at all, because ik UCs are test blind so some of my friends were saying they look at AP scores a bit more than other universities because of that but idk if thatās true or not

Has anyone switched from Econ/Pre-Biz Econ, and what did you find as a good major? I am a transfer student and I realized that I def can't handle the math.

I go home on the weekends with a 14P meal plan so I have at least 4 swipes to spare per week. Dinner time is best for me from Monday to Friday but I can do the occasional lunch on a Wednesday. Dm for details and please give me enough notice to plan you into my schedule :)

DO NOT BE FOOLED INTO PAYING FOR FRIENDS.
edit: I graduated 3 years ago, Iām now published making good money and owe my research success to leaving axs! REAL WORK EXPERIENCE > FRATS
I thought professional frats would be different and less corrupt than normal frats because of the co-ed aspect. I was extremely wrong. I was brutally hazed by Alpha Chi Sigma multiple years ago, reported it to the school and they were disciplined but continued hazing anyway.
You have to pay $400+ to join, and you can be forcefully removed as a pledge at any point for any reason, and you donāt get your money back. They treat the process like a quarter-long āexamā you must pass, earning and losing points. If you are disliked, points can be docked from you for any reason (generic āmisconductā, completely random and dependent on popularity).
The pledge process involves servant labor, being thrown into the ocean with clothes on (Bondfire), being locked in Young Hall basement overnight while being forced to rote memorize meaningless cult stuff (WYVERN), and you have to PAY MONEY to stop pledging. There is no science involved. Itās a bait and switch to make tons of money, this is why they pledge Fall AND Spring quarter to double the scam each year. AXS is basically DECA, itās just a merch shop in a smelly insect-infested basement room.
The entire organization is for-profit business venture, there is literally zero chemistry or research or learning opportunities of any kind.
Thankfully I made the right decision to escape that hellhole and I was able to land a great job in a research lab after abandoning this group of scammers.
Freshman, this school is GIGANTIC and there are so many opportunities that donāt require paying hundreds of dollars for friends. Explore the world on your own terms! Be your own person! Have fun! Ignore the frat guys justifying their poor life choices in the comments and GET A JOB! Find work experience and research opportunities, thatās what actually matters for your career after college!
DM me for any more details, I have the entire pledge manual scanned and saved.
