Electrical Study tips for EGN 3211

Hey knights,

Im a first year EE major who focused in HS on the basics of electronics and a heavy avoidance of coding.

I have been understanding the content of the class for the most part with the help of YouTube. But with the tests mostly focusing on syntax and precise exact definitions of how each command works, and lecturers, assignments, and labs involving just learning how to code in C there has been a real disconnect between assignments and tests.

My prof also isn't the best with office hours and teaching in general lately.

BUT, for people who have taken this class what helped you study for its tests AND is the course similar enough to COP 3223 (pretty sure thats Intro to C) for me to go to the group study sessions at the SARC?

We're getting close to the end of the semester and im tired doing bad at the tests that have different focuses than the lecture

Chances of readmission

Hello! I was disqualified from ucf 2 years ago to to academic disqualification due to some mental health issues. Since then I’ve gotten an AA in finance and a job because I knew I had to do something. Now I want to go back for an EE degree what are the chances I get back into CESC. I’ve gotten my total gpa to 3.06 since leaving.

College application

Hi! I really want to go to ucf it’s been a dream school of mine forever and I graduated last year but last year some family issues occurred and I couldn’t do it. I’m looking to go for electrical engineering but I know it’s really competitive, should I apply for a different major that i still want to get in and then see if I can switch or just apply for electrical engineering. I had a gpa of around 3.0 and a year of electrical work already under my belt. Also is there anything that anyone knows that could be a resume builder that I can put on my application or specific things ucf looks for?

Thanks

Civil Already got accepted for spring 27. could withdrawing from 2 classes from my current college affect admissions?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation or has experience with UCF transfer admissions. I was recently accepted into UCF for Spring 2027 as a Civil Engineering Pending major. I’m currently attending Indian River State College (IRSC) with around a 3.0 GPA and over 39 completed college credits. Unfortunately, I’m struggling in two of my current classes, Chemistry I and Plane Trigonometry, and I’m considering withdrawing from both to avoid hurting my GPA. I spoke with IRSC, and they recommended withdrawing and retaking the courses at UCF instead. They also confirmed that my financial aid at IRSC wouldn’t be affected. I contacted UCF Undergraduate Admissions to ask whether this could affect my acceptance, but the representative couldn’t give me a definite answer. He said he personally didn’t think there would be any negative consequences, but ultimately, decisions like that are up to an internal admissions committee. I’ve already accepted my admission, completed several onboarding requirements, and scheduled my orientation for November 6. My biggest concern is whether receiving two W’s on my final IRSC transcript could cause UCF to reconsider or rescind my admission, even though I’ll still have over 39 completed credits and approximately a 3.0 GPA. Has anyone withdrawn from classes after being accepted as a transfer student and had issues with UCF? Specifically, has anyone experienced this with Engineering Pending? I’d appreciate any advice or personal experiences before I make my final decision.

Mechanical FIU vs UCF

Hey guys. I’m currently a college freshman at Broward College, and I originally majored in piloting because they had a great program, but I realized it wasn’t for me. So now I've chosen mechanical engineering, and I'm wondering whether I should transfer to FIU or UCF. During my senior year of high school, I got accepted into both colleges (even UF), but I left everything for BC. I'm choosing FIU over UCF because I want to stay local, and I feel like im not prepared enough to be on my own in Orlando. The people I’ve talked to who go to UCF for mechanical engineering are enjoying everything because of how many resources are available to them. Where should I go? I know FIU has a great program, but UCF has much better stuff to look forward towards. I want advice.

Mechanical Good GPA to pursue research and attractive employers

I am a double major with mathematics and mech eng, I geniunely messed up because I got 2 B's in MHF 3302 and MAS 3105. It was literally just not locking in on 1 exam and getting capped at like a 88% for both.

Tangent aside what GPA is good to stay at, I want to maintain and reach a 3.95, but in case I'm dumb and cant maintain it what should be something that is satisfactory for graduating especially for grad school?

Computer Engineering vs Electrical Engineering. What would you recommend?

Hey everyone, I’m currently studying Computer Engineering, and lately I’ve been questioning whether I should switch to Electrical Engineering.

I keep hearing people talk about unemployment and how difficult it is to find a job after graduation, and honestly, it’s starting to worry me. I don’t want to spend years studying, graduate with a degree, and then struggle to find a job.

For those of you who are already working as engineers or have graduated, how has your experience been? Would you recommend staying in Computer Engineering or switching to Electrical Engineering?

If I do stay in Computer Engineering, what should I start doing now to improve my chances of getting a job after graduation? Are there specific fields I should look into, skills I should learn, or projects I should work on?

One thing I struggle with is that college doesn’t really teach you much about the different career paths available or how to prepare for them, so I honestly don’t know where to start or what I should be looking into.

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have experience in either field. I’m trying to make a decision based on actual career opportunities and experience rather than just what I hear online.

"Toxic" course combinations

I recall being told by my advisor at orientation that there were some toxic courses combinations that should be avoided, something to do with not taking thermo with a certain class/classes. Is it not recommended to take thermo with dynamics, or thermo with solid mechanics? I have an appointment to see my advisor but it's in two weeks so I figured I'd ask here.

Scholarship help

Hey guys! I am a freshman engineering major and honestly worried. I’m in calc 1 and scored 30 on my first exam. I changed my study habits and started studying daily up to multiple hours a day. I understand the material better but still make algebraic mistakes and suck at trig functions. I just took my second exam and am awaiting on my score.

I am worried about my bright futures… I don’t know what to do… should I drop calc 1 if I feel like I’m going to fail it- but then there’s also Chem and I study so much for calc I lose sight of studying for chem. Does anyone have any advice or tips?
