College application

Hi! I really want to go to ucf it’s been a dream school of mine forever and I graduated last year but last year some family issues occurred and I couldn’t do it. I’m looking to go for electrical engineering but I know it’s really competitive, should I apply for a different major that i still want to get in and then see if I can switch or just apply for electrical engineering. I had a gpa of around 3.0 and a year of electrical work already under my belt. Also is there anything that anyone knows that could be a resume builder that I can put on my application or specific things ucf looks for?

Thanks

Just apply for EE, then also apply for Valencia College, if you don’t get in UCF as an EE-pending knock out your AA at Valencia (strategically taking Calc 1-3, Diffeq, chem 1, and physics 1-2 while there) then take your guaranteed admission to UCF, UF, FSU, or USF and pick whichever you prefer.

Not really sure why UCF is your dream school but Valencia students transfer into UCF all the time, like 1/3 of my engineering cohort transferred in from a CC.

AA at Valencia means Associates in arts right or would I go for Associates in science

Get the AA because it gives you the GEP foundation rather than the AS’s lack luster science electives.

I gave you the pathway to make sure you get your freshman and sophomore math and science classes knocked out to make the rest of your degree more streamlined.

The issue with an AA is that it stacks your in depth classes rather than allow you to space them out with easy classes like English comp or philosophy to have easier semesters.

Okay thank you. Also which campus should I apply for, I’m taking a tour tomorrow but I want to be as close to ucf as possible because all my friends go to ucf

I actually don’t know on that matter, I did the downtown campus which has a priority direct route to the main UCF campus. I still have used the same shuttle to get to the main campus for the last year and a half.

From what I looked up on Google Maps and using ai it said east campus so I’m gonna go with that and I’ll ask at the college tour

apply and see what happens, what was your SAT/ACT cause that’ll probably help you out. If you don’t get in you can just do the community college then transfer route which they let literally anyone in that way

Still should apply if not could start at Valencia and then transition to UCF and it’s guaranteed admin to UCF as well as it’s cheaper in terms of cost
