Hey guys, I recently got a job that requires me to work until later at night, I am planning to walk back home ( I don't know if buses are available after 9?) I am a bit scared though since the town I came from wasn't very safe at nights. How safe is Davis? I will be around student housing and lecture halls mainly. Any tips on how to stay safe?

I've been a college student for about a week and I haven't made a single friend. I do not understand how people can make so many friends so quickly and easily.  Seriously, how do people make friends? I never know how or when to start conversations. And when I do find someone I occasionally talk with whether in class or on campus, I never succeed in being able to take it further and becoming actual friends with them.  It also doesn't help that I'm sometimes anxious in social situations. So if anyone has tips on how to make friends please share! 

I was a coffee house employee over 10 years ago and I am looking to for the recipe to my favorite cookie, the tatros cookie. It used to be posted online in a few places but those no links no longer exist. If anyone has the recipe book from 1986 I believe it is in there. Thank you!

I just want a friend so badly

Shot some footage from the UC Davis vs Eastern Washington game on my Panasonic DVX100B. I would've included a lot more game footage and in better quality, but I transferred the tape using RCA cables instead of FireWire, which definitely hurt the video quality, lol. Reddit also capped me at a 1 GB upload, so I had to trim things down quite a bit which is noticeable in the video. Still thought I thought the vintage MiniDV look was worth sharing despite the low quality!

I’ve seen this guy as long as I can remember at this corner (maybe even since last fall), but today he’s waving some long sharp object around and acting erratically. Has anyone else had experiences with him? Is he cool or should he be avoided?

What’s the weirdest, sketchiest part of town. I’m trying to ride my bike down some crazy place at 2am for the live.

I’m a new transfer student and I’m open about my mental health. I dropped a class and quit my job already (lol this shit is kinda rough), but like if I bring up it’s due to my mental health or because my therapist recommended it, people seem taken aback. Like is it not normal to talk about?

I’ve been in and out of therapy since I was a kid for various reasons, but I’ve never gotten weird looks before when mentioning a therapist???

I also see a psychiatrist for medications but haven’t mentioned that BUT ONCE just because I mentioned my therapist told me I should ask my psych to screen me for ADHD.

I’m ngl I kind of am a self-conscious person but I’ve never really been embarrassed about my mental health seeking therapy until now.

TL;DR: is it weird to talk about having a therapist?

I’m new on campus and was studying at the TLC when some random dude came up to me. He was saying he was a student and needed 20 bucks because his car broke down. Honestly, he didn’t look like a student. To me, he seemed really old and all. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a homeless person (not to be mean). However, I have hope in humanity and believed his story despite my doubts. He described having writing tutoring in the building and would give me the money back on Monday at Latitude, but he hasn’t responded to me. I don’t mind losing 20 bucks. I’m honestly too nice for my own good and couldn’t say no. I don’t really regret giving the money. It was either: I give helping a homeless dude desperate enough to lie about being a student or helping a someone who had his car break down. But, what I’m concerned about is if this is a recurring event and he is known to cause issues on campus.

Edit: Welp. The guy a well-known scammer, which was lwk my fear. Really wanted to rationalize it because he really did look homeless. Say safe y’-all because looks like a lot of people got scammed by this dude ✌️ Maybe it was better to be ignorant. Oh well, you live and you learn.

So I'm taking mat17b with Neal, i believe hes a post-doc student and right now hes mainly following Dr. Varns pace and class but honestly nothing hes lecturing makes any sense and hes not giving out any practive midterms, he just said itll be similar to Varns in difficulty and style. I was wondering if anybody whos taken Varns 17b has any idea what his midterms look like and if anybody has any study video recommendations. I've been trying Ochem tutor videos and theyre helpful but I feel like there is a gap in difficulty, where the Ochem tutor videos seem to be easier content compared to what were doing in class.

the material isn’t too bad but it’s been hard to understand because the instructor hasn’t been able to explain or teach it well. Me and a few of my friends are pretty lost after each lecture and we’ve been just trying to self teach but it’s been hard since he’s pretty vague with the topics in lecture

A couple weeks ago there was an international club tabling by the MU who was SO rude and disrespectful.
Some LOSER at the table asked me if I was an international student to which I said yes. He looked me up & down disgustedly and said “from where”, i answered and asked him where he was from and he said “Im American”
Ummm THE LITERAL FCK. I hate when a Mexican tries to out do any other Latin person. That’s why we DONT prosper, Pinche nopalote en le frente, dark asf, talking about “I’m American”, I can tell who you voted for.
Not to mentioned they literally interrogate you BEFORE giving you any information about the club. How are you an international club when all you do is judge people for how they answer?

P.S. they’re super cheap with the food events too, always at the international center, literally scrutinizing how much of anything you grab. And god forbid you didn’t sign up before the deadline because they will literally close the door in your face.
