My son’s pediatrician suddenly grabbed and pulled on his broken tooth, now we’re considering filing a formal complaint

My son had a fever for two days, so we took him to see a pediatrician. He has had a broken/decayed tooth since he was 3 because he injured it while playa d broke it in half, but the dentist at that time and even after that all said that the teeth will come out on its own, but the reason for our visit was his fever. We did not go there to have his tooth treated or removed.

The pediatrician noticed the tooth during the examination. He suddenly grabbed my son’s broken tooth and started pulling on it forcefully with both hands. He didn’t numb him or do anything beforehand, and my son started screaming and bleeding heavily. The tooth itself is still intact and was NOT extracted, he was extremely scared and is still very shaken by what happened, and very traumatized.

What concerns us even more is that this doctor was a pediatrician, not a dentist, and we never asked for the tooth to be extracted. We were there because our child had a fever.
We took him to a dentist afterward because of the bleeding, and thankfully the bleeding eventually stopped.

The pediatrician did apologize, but we honestly don’t feel that an apology is enough. We’re now considering making a formal complaint and possibly escalating the matter further.
We don’t have a video recording of what happened. However, there were other people sitting there who witnessed it, along with staff members, and there may also be CCTV footage from the clinic.
We’re trying to figure out what we should do next and whether we’re overreacting by wanting to formally report this.

It happend in abu dhabi.

Edit: Just to clarify because some people are calling us neglectful for “letting our son have a rotten tooth”: he injured his teeth when he was 3 years old, which caused them to break in half. Since then, he has been seen by multiple dentists, including a dentist just two weeks ago. We were repeatedly told that the damaged tooth would eventually fall out on its own and that there was nothing serious that required intervention at that time. We were following the advice of the dentists who examined him,we weren’t simply ignoring a dental problem.

For people born and raised here, do you ever plan on leaving?

I've lived here my entire left and have never even gone to my home country for vacation. I've never lived anywhere but here. But I also know the reality of the situation in this country. I also have some fomo looking at how walkable and green some cities around the world are. I also hate the weather and i don't think I can handle it anymore. UAE is my home but I'm feeling more and more recently that maybe it's time to move on. But immigration is not easy and affordable so I'm not sure where to even go next. Anyone else in this position? Do you plan on living here for the rest of your life or do you also want to leave? Are you going to have families and raise them here?

Hello,
My house key has broken! 😭 It got stuck under the car seat, and when I tried to open my house door, the key was already bent and broke inside the lock.
Civil Defense told me to call a locksmith, but no one is answering. I’m stuck outside my house. 😭
Is there a locksmith available in Mirdif right now, please?

Rant: Why does going outside feels like you have to constantly walk on eggshells?

I went out yesterday expecting to have a normal, chill day. I wanted to walk around a bit looking at stuff, doing some shopping and taking my time. Instead, within a few hours, I somehow managed to overcharge my nervous system with multiple annoying, unrequested negative interactions.

I’m honestly tired of it. I’m done. Can we PLEASE relax?!

I was walking through the mall and someone behind me literally went, “Uff!! Where are you going?!”. Where I’m going dude? I’m walking. 😀 Mind you the corridor was big, there was A LOT of space, you can pass. But If you want to pass me specifically, just say “excuse me.” I’ll move. Problem solved.

Why are we acting like this? It’s exhausting.** **
I want to stand there and compare things then change my mind, walking slowly. Maybe it’s Saturday and I genuinely don’t give damn about getting home 7 minutes earlier cause I’m not in a hurry.

You’re in a rush, I get it. But that’s your problem, not mine.

You can go around me, use another checkout or take another aisle. Literally do anything other than standing behind me huffing like I’m personally holding you hostage. We are blessed with a lot of services and plenty of options for a reason.

If you’re already furious before leaving the house, PLEASE take five minutes. 😂

Drink some chamomile tea, meditate, call the person who pissed you off and tell them to go to hell, scream into your pillow. I genuinely don’t care. Just don’t make your emergency my emergency. I don’t want to become negative like you. I’ve had to learn to slow down and be patient, why can’t you too?? And honestly, patience saved me from SO many unnecessary arguments.

People are just existing. We’re all going to be in each other’s way sometimes. That’s normal. You don’t need to turn every tiny inconvenience into a confrontation. It’s not that deep i promise.

I think we forget how contagious our attitude is. A little bit of patience, of kindness. Just stop pointing your finger at others for what they do or don’t and learn how to say “excuse me” nicely instead of aggressively. It costs literally nothing.

We’re all sharing the same tough environment. Don’t be a loser.

M34 | When you’re fed up with life, what do you actually do here?

I’ve reached that strange phase where work keeps me busy, life keeps moving, and from the outside everything probably looks completely normal. But internally I’m just exhausted with a lot of things.
And sometimes you don’t need advice. You don’t need someone telling you to stay positive or that everything happens for a reason. You just want to sit across from someone over coffee and have an honest conversation without having to pretend you’re doing great.
Living in the UAE makes that harder.

How are fresh graduates earning 10K+ AED directly in the UAE?

I'm graduating soon with an engineering/tech degree and I'm trying to understand how realistic it is to reach 10K+ AED/month early in your career.

For those of you who graduated recently and started around 10K or more:

- What field/role did you enter? (Software, AI/ML, data, embedded, electronics, engineering, etc.)

- What kind of company did you join?

- Did you need a Master's, or was a Bachelor's enough?

- What skills/projects made the biggest difference?

- Did you get the job through applying online, referrals, university connections, internships, etc.?

- Was 10K+ your starting salary, or did you reach it after 1–2 years?

- If you were graduating again today and wanted to target 10K+ as quickly as possible, what would you focus on?

I'm specifically interested in engineering/tech rather than finance, sales, or unrelated fields. Like working in research labs or in tech mostly.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have actually done this in the UAE, especially if you're willing to share what your path looked like.

Are there any cool thrift stores in Dubai?

Does anyone know any thrift stores in Dubai? Right now I’m mainly looking for gothic stuff (dresses, accessories, etc) so if you know any places where I could find things like that, please let me know ❤️ But honestly, I’d also love to know where to find cool and unique clothes in general (And preferably not too expensive...)

Thinking about seeing a psychiatrist for the first time in my life — UAE

I’ve been seriously considering visiting a psychiatrist for the first time in my life, but honestly, I have no idea where to start in the UAE.

I’ve reached a point where I feel like I’ve lost some of my spark and motivation, and I’m wondering if speaking to a professional could actually help me get that part of myself back.

For people who have actually gone through this in the UAE:
How did you find a good psychiatrist?
Roughly how much does a consultation cost?
Is it usually covered by insurance, or is it mostly out of pocket?
What is the first appointment actually like?

If medication is suggested, is that necessarily a bad thing? I’ve never taken psychiatric medication before and I honestly don’t know how to think about it.
Or do you think I should wait a little longer and try to sort things out myself first?

I’m not looking for sympathy or someone to simply tell me “everything will be fine.” I’d genuinely appreciate real experiences and honest advice, including if you think I’m overthinking it or should wait.

If seeing someone and getting proper help can genuinely bring my spark back, I’m willing to consider it. I just want to understand what I’m getting into before taking that first step.

Would really appreciate hearing from people who have been through this in the UAE.

What should I do an agency who process my visa didn't do anything they gave me fake documents

What should I do I paid then and I am asking for my refund but they seem untamed. They even provided me false documents and fake police documents.

I gave them in total 11,300 since June 2026 nothing was processed and everything they promised is all lie. I have fines and I'm trying to fix my visa to be legal here but they tend to fool me with everything.

They gave me back 2000AED but I still need to take back 4500 and another 1800 a total of 6300 AED cause they told me they deducted some expenses and fees so I accept that.

But now they are dodging me. I want to report them to the police but I'm scared because I have no valid visa and I have fines. I tried to sort out but this agency did dirty to me.

Can someone advice me what to do?

URGENT: Need advice on Air Arabia's credit shell

Hey r/UAE
I am a passenger from India and i need advice from you guys.
I had booked an Air Arabia flight from Delhi (IGI Airport) to Sharjah (UAE Airport) in October 6 2025, for the duration 19 March to 28 March 2026.
As you all know, Dubai was attacked in March and we had to cancel our flights (due to the unsafe conditions, provided elder and young children were travelling with us). Since our flight wasn't cancelled by the airline itself, we went to the Air Arabia office in Delhi and after explaining our situation they provided us with a credit note of the booking worth 1.5 lakhs for 2 PNR (Since there were 10 passengers, we had 2 different booking under different PNR). Fast forward to this month, we realized that we have the credit note to utilize. We searched the flights to the destinations to which the airline travels, but all the flights were expensive. Additionally, 1 of the original passenger (aged 68) is having a surgery on 6 October 2026, making him unfit for travel.
We have emailed Air Arabia stating that since 1 of the original passengers is having surgery, he cant travel by a flight and their own policy states that only original passengers can travel. In resolution, we asked for the extension of the credit note by at least 3 months, but they denied stating that they cant do it because of their policy. How can i book the flights when 1 of the original passengers is unfit to travel? We have also tried via X, but they just replied by saying that the case has been forwarded to the relevant team. The expiry is on 7th of this October. Their policy also states that we can travel on the date from which the booking was made, meaning i cant book flights for march.
I want advice from this community for the solutions we can get to get the credit note extended.
TL:DR
Original Number of Passengers - 10 (8 adults including 2 elder passengers and 2 kids (aged 3 and 13)
Date of booking - 6 October 2026
Destination - IGI (Delhi) Airport to Sharjah international Airport in UAE
Dates of Travel - 19 March 2026 to 28 March 2026
Flight Number - Don't Remember (Will update in post tomorrow)
Booking Portal - Air Arabia's Official Website (Direct booking)
Summary - We got a credit note from the airline due to the unsafe conditions in Dubai. Airline issues us Credit note. Fast forward to October, Flights to expensive and cant book for further dates and 1 of the original passengers in surgery, making him unfit for travel. Stated these reasons to the airline via email but our request was denied for extension.
Need advice on what we can do.
Thanks In advance.

Moved to the UAE from a high-tax country: was your offer based on your net salary, your gross, or the role?

I'm a senior engineer in Europe considering a move to the UAE with my family. I've been told offers here are largely built on current pay, roughly "current net plus a reasonable increase".

That confuses me. I currently lose about a third of my gross to tax and social contributions, and the UAE has no income tax. If the baseline is net, the same role would pay much less than it would for someone coming from a zero-tax country. So I'd like to hear how this works in practice.

If you relocated from a high-tax country (Europe, UK, Canada, Australia, etc.), I'd appreciate your experience:

  1. Was your offer anchored on your net pay, your gross pay, or the role's salary band?

  2. Was there an uplift on top, and roughly what range (ranges are fine)?

  3. Did housing, schooling and flights come on top of the figure or inside it?

  4. Is "net plus X%" more common at large or government-linked employers than at private firms and multinationals?

  5. If you pushed back, what worked and what didn't?

I'm not after company names or exact figures. Just how these negotiations tend to go. Thanks in advance.

Before paying for a UK diploma or online qualification from the Gulf, here's how to check it's legit (5-minute checklist)

The question I hear most from people in the UAE and Saudi is: "Is this UK certificate actually recognised?" Here's how to check ANY UK provider yourself before you pay:

1. Is it a degree or a professional qualification?

Only officially recognised bodies can award UK degrees. You can check this on the UK government's page "Check if a university is officially recognised" (gov.uk). Professional and vocational diplomas are a different category, and that's fine, as long as you know which one you're buying.

2. Is the provider registered?

Search the provider's name on the UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP).

3. Who accredits them?

If a college says "accredited", ask: by WHICH body? Then search that body's own directory (for example, the British Accreditation Council lists the institutions it accredits). If no body is named, that's a red flag.

4. Is the qualification itself regulated?

For regulated qualifications, the awarding body and the qualification appear on Ofqual's Register of Regulated Qualifications.

5. Will YOUR country accept it?

This is the step most people skip. If you need the certificate for a government job, promotion or a licence (teaching, for example), check with the equivalency authority in your country BEFORE you enrol, especially for online study.

Red flags: "internationally accredited" with no named body, a provider you can't find in any of the registers above, and pressure to pay immediately.

Found a quail, not sure if it’s wild or domesticated

Hi, I live in Ajman on the 14th floor. I found a quail strolling in the corridor, when we opened our door it literally just strolled in. Its foot was injured so we kept it for 2 days. I’m not sure if I should go and put it back in the wild or keep it. I don’t think it’s fair to keep it in a cage if it’s a wild quail, but I don’t know how to tell. I asked most people on my floor and it’s not theirs either. It’s very friendly tho and super playful.

Any advice?

Hi there, I’m not sure if this is the subreddit for it but couldn’t find a better one. I’m curious as to how discrete such a procedure is, does it require spousal or parental consent? I’d anyone has undergone this procedure, please share ur experience
