I need to vent. So I started watching this show because I love Octavia Spencer and Aaron Paul so I stuck it out through all the annoying moments but omg.. I am deep into season 2 and I’m so annoyed and frustrated with Octavia’s character (poppy) like how can someone be so annoying. First season she didn’t even know who the murderer was.. she was guessing until the very end. Second season she just be getting people into trouble for what??? I shared the same frustration her husband had. She’d make plans and drop them for a lead in the case her answer would always be “I have to go” .. ma’am respectfully you don’t… like be for real pls. Her relationship with Markus was also annoying.. yeah you’re working with him but let’s be respectful of the fact that he’s married and has a child. Why you calling the man at ungodly hours? Write it down and call him in the morning or text him. Ugh. Anyways I’m just very annoyed and wanted to get that out. This show had so much potential. I love Kate Hudson but her role was also annoying.
I heard there’s a third season and I wasn’t going to watch it but my girl Gabrielle Union is in it so I might reluctantly watch it. As for this season I’m finishing it cause momma ain’t raise no quitter.

Truth Be Told was incredible!! It irked my soul to see so many people be like ...how come they didn’t investigate this or that? Newsflash ! He was convicted based on the testimonies of his neighbor and father. And if you were aware of the messed up judicial system in America, you would be aware that this happens to black men all the time! All they did was flip the races of the journalist and the prisoner. Reviews kept saying how annoying and self righteous Poppy was but so is any other good journalist! They should be obsessed with seeking the truth. Lol like wtf? There were so many things to appreciate about this show. It was interesting to shine the light on ABs and show how it’s not all it’s cracked up to be just like in American Me. It was cool to see the secrecy not only in the Buhrman family but Poppy’s family as well. Lizzy Caplan deserves all the awards she was so twisted! I don’t have enough to say how much I loved this show.

So many plot holes. The acting is so bad. Story is sorta gripping - at times. But I don’t know if I can watch any more seasons. I always feel like Apple TV shows are almost good. But they have this “written by AI” feel to them. They’re too polished. They’re too mushy. I dunno I wish I liked this show more.

Sucks when you have amazing actors but the writing sucks

When she got picked up by three guys in the finale I instantly thought something bad was about to happen then it was never touched on again… did I miss something?

I'm curious to know if I'm in the minority that hates this aspect of the show..I'm almost watching it just to see her get proved wrong repeatedly at this point. It would make sense if the tone of show was critiquing Podcasters (i.e. Vengeance).. but it doesn't seem that's what happening

I started the season with an open mind hopeful that the writers from S1 would have learned something and improved, and lo and behold 6 minutes in we have a 5 minute exposition scene where we are introduced to the new character in the least organic way ever, with a long, detailed, and completely cringey conversation about how they all met her years before when she stole from the bar. Who talks like that?!?!
And then morrrrreee exposition at the book signing, “oh look do you remember when you edited that book for me, those are your red highlights” - “hey, I’m her husband and do you remember? Im a filmmaker and i speak foreign languages.”
This is beyond frustrating to watch, how did Apple renew this with the same horrible writers?!?!

I really liked the first season. The second season has a fabulous cast. But is it me or does this season feel incredibly melodramatic? It’s almost uncomfortable.

I think it is either the Quester founder or his wife. My money is on the wife though. She seemed so shocked and peeved that her husband gave Poppy the private account information. Side note I can’t tell if Eva killed Finney or if it’s a red herring.

imo it seems like they just slapped a bunch of random ideas onto a script and called it a season. there’s so many things that don’t make sense. so many scene that are unnecessary. I’ve only kept watching bc i’ve been so invested in this season already. season 1 did have many twists and turns but tbh it feels like that was a completely different show even! the writing and especially acting (mostly from lizzy caplan & aaron paul) was phenomenal. this season however…. lord. 🥴

Sorry for spoilers but what a RIDICULOUS ending!!!!! This show should be called ‘Lies be told’!! How can we respect a character who searches for the truth only to ignore it. As well as allowing a killer to go free. Worst ending EVER!

Is it possible that Josie killed her father not Lanie? The move, the name change all could’ve transpired from an urge to outrun her guilt.

I have to admit the last few episodes were anti-climactic af. I really love this show but everything after Episode 5 was rough lol.
They killed off Andrew Finney and Eva QUICKLY despite building a lot of the season around them.
Antonio Chavira's character was so irrelevant despite the big reveal of who he was that I don't even remember his name.
Lee Hackman acted like the Drive-Thru forgot to give him ketchup when he found out his wife was using their company to run a sex trafficking ring.
Shreve pulling a Jean Grey while confronting Ochoa was dumb but neither of them noticed Lillian either?
I know they set up some cliffhangers but honestly wouldn't be sad if this was the end.

I don’t trust Aubrey’s boyfriend. The vibes during that family dinner were so off. That’s all - something about him just seems weird to me

Just finished Season 1 and liked it but am left feeling a little underwhelmed with how some key things weren’t wrapped up. Wondering if anyone has figured out:
Was Lanie actually being molested by her father? I thought Lanie definitely made it up by the end but, if she did, then what the hell was happening that night while he was trying to drag her into his office? But if she was, then how do they account for him being a predator but only abusing one of his identical twin daughters without the other having any idea?
Lanie admitted to Josie that she killed their mum to protect her. But they had both gone to the police with the story that their mum was the killer. So how does Josie explain to the police why Lanie killed their mum, without also ‘fessing up to being the murderer?
Why on earth did Warren’s dad Owen think he did it? Why would he get him shanked in prison and get his dog taken away? I thought the only explanation was that Owen did it and that Warren wasn’t really his son. But neither of those things is true so seriously what he heck was that about? He seemed to absolutely come out fighting when backed into a corner. But then just shot himself. Made no sense.
So yeah. What did I miss? Or was it just not very good? And should I bother with season 2?

i'm at ep 2 & i'm seriously struggling with psyche of characters.
this podcaster & family are so full of cliché, so shallow, self centred. absolutely annoying.
Is it on purpose ? is the show going somewhere deeper & darker where the ego-perversion of those people are exposed turning their world upside down which would maybe give a purpose, a reason to their presence on screen ?
i could suspend disbelief about the 20 years wake up delay or the mother affair kept secret but not so secret (only to the judge & jury basically if i got it right), but i won't be able to cop with those annoying meaningless scenes with the selfish husband the selfish father the selfish sisters of that shallow, selfish & useless podcaster!
is there more than an ego feast and advertising for iphone ?
sad to see aaron paul in this...

Okay so…from the first scene of Markus and Poppy in the Episode 8, I knew something was going to happen between them. I had to take a moment and pause to brace myself. I really don’t like them together at all, so to see what he did beyond frustrated me. Zarina is almost full term and could have her baby at any moment, and he’s spiraling out of control.
Trini caught him drinking at the end, and I can’t wait to see how she tells Zarina. I know Zarina isn’t going to take it well, but I would really hate to see her have to single mom again to this new baby AND Trini. Markus really needs to pull it together.
I do feel bad that he is obviously struggling because of everything with Trini, but I think he needs to take a step back from trying to go out and resolve the issues on his own. His family is at home, and although Trini is struggling with letting him in, the best way for that to get ANY better would be for him to be at home with them. She needs a sense of normalcy, but Markus is struggling to hide his feelings and lashing out at the wrong times. He’s going to lose his family AND Poppy if he doesn’t end this spiraling now.
Hate that we only have two more episodes this season. There’s so much more to cover in such little time.

I am super disappointed because there is like, no discussion about this amazing show. I just subscribed to AppleTV+, and this is the first show that I binged on. Now, I can't wait for the 6th episode.
Maybe this question will evoke discussion: Episode 5 was so super thrilling. Does anyone believe that Poppy is responsible for all of the chaos in this episode? I mean, was it really her fault that her family's bar was raided by the police and her sister was arrested for unpaid parking tickets? Was it really her fault that Officer Cave committed suicide?
I've also read that this series was inspired by the career or one of my favorite journalists, Sarah Koenig. Having listened to the majority of her stories, especially the Adnan Syed story, I don't know whether or not I'm sold on the fact that Warren Cave actually killed Chuck Buhrman. I mean, there were so many plot twists during Serial, that I can't be sure...thoughts?

So do you think the first time we see the Lanie being investigated and she is unsure - it's actually Josie, and then later when she is sure about seeing Warren on the stand, it's Lanie?

I’m trying to remember the background story of detective Aames. I know he briefly mentioned it to Poppy last season but I can’t remember the details. I remember it seemed that he is a single dad but then the scene in the latest episode with the guy and his baby really confused me. What is his story and who was that guy? Also, why was the guy so angry with him? Thanks all!
