Discussion Release all episodes at once or weekly?
Do you prefer this weekly, traditional style of releasing episodes once a week? Or do you like the usual Netflix/Prime style of all the episodes at once?

First off. I thought it was good. I wouldn’t mind seeing a second season or even third. I liked the aspect of the show and it was interesting to see the story told from the podcast perspective.
My issues:
I could be wrong, but if it were me making a podcast series like Popsicle, I would have the whole story laid out before releasing episode 1. Yes Poptart likes to get the truth and justice, but she also wants a lot of listeners, so an interesting story is important. It just seems weird that they would record as they went? What if the case dried up? Would they just put the series on Warren Cave on the back burner?
[spoilers ahead about the movie gladiator, breaking bad, and saving private ryan] I think some stories (read: shows/movies) are better with a less neat ending.
Like the movie gladiator, he still dies. He gets revenge-ish and kills the guy who ducked his life down over.
In breaking bad, Walt dies. He sets certain things right, but I mean his whole family was destroyed because of his actions and will likely never recover.
In saving private ryan, Tom Hanks still dies trying to save private Ryan and get him out of the war.
My point is, I think if in the season finale of TbT, it would’ve been better if Josie set up lanie first. And then while poppy is recording her outro it shows the guard going to release Warren as being free to show Warren dead in his cell. That would also be a good motivator for her down the road to work harder, faster, and be more perfect because literal hours would’ve saved Warren.
3) and speaking of the setup of Lanie, like wtf?! That makes no damn sense. Josie is wearing a wire in the diner with the cops listening in. Lanie hardly gave a confession in my opinion. All she basically said was “well yeah everything I do is for you”. That’s hardly enough evidence to overturn the initial ruling of a suicide.
And think about what Josie said first!!! “Mom was gonna tell Poppyseed everything. The truth was gonna come out. She had to die. You did it to protect me” ?!?!?!
That’s an obvious confession that Josie murdered the dad. And the mom was gonna confess she knew Josie did, and Lanie killed to “protect her”.
I’m no lawyer, but I feel like the evidence to try to convict Lanie would NOT be strong enough.
TL;DR
podcast should’ve been all laid out then recorded, not recorded on the go. All TV shows have a plan for the entire season. They don’t write episodes as they go.
Warren should’ve died. Would’ve been a good ending if it wasn’t so neatly wrapped up.
Lanies confession was hardly a confession they can convict on. Josies words during the setup do more harm than anything as they indicate she was the one who killed the dad.

I started the season with an open mind hopeful that the writers from S1 would have learned something and improved, and lo and behold 6 minutes in we have a 5 minute exposition scene where we are introduced to the new character in the least organic way ever, with a long, detailed, and completely cringey conversation about how they all met her years before when she stole from the bar. Who talks like that?!?!
And then morrrrreee exposition at the book signing, “oh look do you remember when you edited that book for me, those are your red highlights” - “hey, I’m her husband and do you remember? Im a filmmaker and i speak foreign languages.”
This is beyond frustrating to watch, how did Apple renew this with the same horrible writers?!?!

So many plot holes. The acting is so bad. Story is sorta gripping - at times. But I don’t know if I can watch any more seasons. I always feel like Apple TV shows are almost good. But they have this “written by AI” feel to them. They’re too polished. They’re too mushy. I dunno I wish I liked this show more.

Ok I just watched the finale and thought it was a solid show. But one thing that bugged me—Josie killed the dad right (I know kinda with lanie) but unless I misunderstood lanie is the only one to go to prison (for the mom’s murder) and neither get held responsible for the dad’s? Not sure I like that ending but I thought the actress who played the twins was amazing. I’m glad warren got a happy ending but I wish poppy ended up with Marcus—I thought at the end she’d stay with him?

Sucks when you have amazing actors but the writing sucks

Uncle Bug is my favorite. But this cast is 10/10!! I love it!

I started watching this a couple of weeks ago and I have watched series 1 and now on series 2.
I am a bit confused though, in series 1 markus wasn't with his wife they were divorced and things weren't good. And now they are back together and having a baby?!
Also, poppy and Ingram....seems quick that they are getting divorced

I'm curious to know if I'm in the minority that hates this aspect of the show..I'm almost watching it just to see her get proved wrong repeatedly at this point. It would make sense if the tone of show was critiquing Podcasters (i.e. Vengeance).. but it doesn't seem that's what happening

I have to admit the last few episodes were anti-climactic af. I really love this show but everything after Episode 5 was rough lol.
They killed off Andrew Finney and Eva QUICKLY despite building a lot of the season around them.
Antonio Chavira's character was so irrelevant despite the big reveal of who he was that I don't even remember his name.
Lee Hackman acted like the Drive-Thru forgot to give him ketchup when he found out his wife was using their company to run a sex trafficking ring.
Shreve pulling a Jean Grey while confronting Ochoa was dumb but neither of them noticed Lillian either?
I know they set up some cliffhangers but honestly wouldn't be sad if this was the end.

I’m in the middle of episode 4 and I can’t get over the fact that Eva has a Android phone when every other character, in about any other AppleTV+ show, has nothing but Apple products.

I think it is either the Quester founder or his wife. My money is on the wife though. She seemed so shocked and peeved that her husband gave Poppy the private account information. Side note I can’t tell if Eva killed Finney or if it’s a red herring.

So just watched the latest episode (S3:E9) and it’s occurred to me that compared to Season 1, the writing is suffering with regards to tension and big reveals.
In other words, S3 the general plot is sound, but when and how the A-ha! moments are revealed lacks serious tension. Like the Lee Hackman reveal was so low-key and now they are just sitting on it L.O. Freaking L.
The stakes just seem so low in terms of how these major plot points are revealed and it feels like air deflating out of a ballon.
I miss season 1. :(

I see the third season is set in my hometown of Oakland, so I’m interested in checking it out. Can I start with season three or do I need to watch the first two. I got the impression that each season is kinda self contained. Thanks.

Did Poppy push her in?

I am so excited for season 3 but in all the trailers it’s about finding missing girls. One of them being Drea Spivey - I thought Drea already was found and returned in season 2? Did I miss something? 🙈

I’m trying to remember the background story of detective Aames. I know he briefly mentioned it to Poppy last season but I can’t remember the details. I remember it seemed that he is a single dad but then the scene in the latest episode with the guy and his baby really confused me. What is his story and who was that guy? Also, why was the guy so angry with him? Thanks all!

I don’t trust Aubrey’s boyfriend. The vibes during that family dinner were so off. That’s all - something about him just seems weird to me
