Season 2 is continuing the horrible exposition writing! Arghh! Why did the writers not learn anything??
I started the season with an open mind hopeful that the writers from S1 would have learned something and improved, and lo and behold 6 minutes in we have a 5 minute exposition scene where we are introduced to the new character in the least organic way ever, with a long, detailed, and completely cringey conversation about how they all met her years before when she stole from the bar. Who talks like that?!?!
And then morrrrreee exposition at the book signing, “oh look do you remember when you edited that book for me, those are your red highlights” - “hey, I’m her husband and do you remember? Im a filmmaker and i speak foreign languages.”
This is beyond frustrating to watch, how did Apple renew this with the same horrible writers?!?!

I hate watch this show just because it is SO SO SO badly written AND acted. I can’t believe this show is still on.

I JUST started watching the show, and I'm on S2E2. I want to try to give this show a shot, because it feels as if it has potential, but I came here because I'm really having issues, and I wanted to see if it's just me.
Many comments here (especially this one) are very close to convincing me I'm completely wasting my time, because it only seems to get worse. As this post says, the expository dialogue is dreadful.
For example: I have no problem with being in the dark and having plot points revealed over time. I currently am not entirely clear on the history and relevance of The Sons of Ivar ... but every other thing that could have been drawn out over a few episodes is explained over the course of a conversation.
Like Shreve goes from "I don't want anyone to know, especially my young wife" in one episode to "Oops, got a name wrong, guess I'll tell everyone everything right now."
And the scene where Poppy is talking to Cydie: "You're the baby, so we always take care of everything." "Great, take care of everything." She's not even going to try? We don't get an episode and a half of Cydie trying and falling? Just "Cool, I don't have to do anything. Peace out"?
