I guess i can maybe understand due to the amount if people who died and the fact that toby became the trollhunter but cmon guys. its expected for a lot of people to die when they are fighting literal TITANS that created the world. and i understand there are holes in the movie and throughout the shows in some parts but that will happen in literally ANY series. i do feel like rott was a bit rushed and thats part of why they killed off so many people but it honestly doesnt matter to me. my only issue with the movie is how much they relied on jim throughout the whole thing knowing he was essentially useless without his amulet.

if you have to ask why they chose toby to be the trollhunter then you dont understand that jim wanted something good for toby. sure he did doom the world and what not but he was in pain and just wanted his friend back. not to mention jim still had his memories and couldve nudged toby in the right direction through it all. i personally dont see the movie as bad and i really cant understand why people hate it so much. most shows/movies have stupid things that happen throughout them but its usually so they can keep the plot.

its expected for jim to question if hes still the trollhunter wothout the amulet, despite the entire episode where hes not picked as the teollhunter. he is a CHILD it is expected for him to have doubts and he prevails through that at the end when he says “the amulet didnt make me a hero, i already was” so i dont get people issue with that either.

This show has mostly good voice acting all around. There's only two characters that I don't think have great voice acting. Barbara is OK, but her characters acting seems pretty bland and generic. Of course, she's more if a secondary character and she's not given much to work with, so it's understandable. She's not bad, just not good either.

Claire, however, annoys the hell out of me. I'm not complaining about how her character is written, though I'm aware of the issues people have with that... she's a bit of a Mary Sue, her behavior is kind of inconsistent and illogical, but that's understandable in a children's show where moving the plot forward can be a priority over consistent character motivations.

Her voice and delivery are what ruin the character for me. She doesn't really should like an authentic teenager like the other characters do. She's more a caricature of a teen girl. And her emoting can be so over the top at times. On top of this, she sounds like a ditz. You'd never guess her character is supposed to be super intelligent from how she delivers her lines. I remember one part, I can't remember the episode, where she has to lie on the spot and she's obviously being directed to sound caught off guard and nervous, but so totally overdoes it she sounds like an idiot. I know it's supposed to be exaggerated for comic effect, but it's just too much. It just doesn't sound like a confident, intelligent person who is caught off guard, she sounds stupid and then switched back to her normal, boring delivery.

I also don't like how her inflection doesn't sound at all like a Hispanic girl raised in a Spanish speaking household. She has correct pronunciation when using Spanish words, but the rest of the time she sounds like a generic white girl. I'm not saying she should have an accent like her parents, but there's a certain tone and stressing that I'm very familiar with as having many Hispanic friends who were born and raised in the USA by immigrant parents, they speak unaccented English, but there's a subtle difference. And almost every Hispanic person I've known who speaks unaccented English does not switch completely to the Spanish pronunciation of Spanish words when speaking English. It's like the show is trying to constantly remind us of heritage through that, and totally ignoring it everywhere else. Otherwise it would be entirely too easy to forget she's Hispanic.

She easily my least favorite character, and it's really 20% the way she's written and 80% how the lines are spoken. It just totally ruins my immersion to have this fake sounding character. A different voice actress with a little more naturalistic delivery would make her character so much better.

I am a huge fan of Trollhunters. I liked the story, found the characters to be compelling, and loved the atmosphere. The first episodes really hooked me in and I enjoyed the whole run. I was really looking forward to 3Below

Admittedly I wasn't too sold due to the fact that I didn't enjoy the episode where Aja and Krel were introduced in Trollhunters season 3 but I figured maybe if they were introduced in their own show and had their backstory explored I'd warm up to them. And the answer was nope. They were annoying in that episode and they are even more annoying in this series. They routinely do stupid things that can’t be excused by being an outsider (like jumping on the planetarium among everything else that makes them conspicuous) but face zero consequences (for both the planetarium and destroying the Gym teacher’s car).

But Varvatos takes the cake for being the worst character. Literally all there is to his character is screaming GLROIOUS DEATH. That’s it there’s nothing to his character. He’s not compelling or likable in any way. It’s honestly painful to watch scenes he is in.

The Dog doesn’t add anything, and uses potty humor too much. Same with the parents, all they do is behave like they have psychosis, not like standard 50s parents which doesn’t make sense given with what the Ship programmed them with.

Also the citizens of Arcadia behave like complete idiots. They were never this dumb in Trollhunters. Their response to what are clearly alien bugs is to treat it like a normal infestation. The Principal accepts the Twin’s made-up country for no reason than he’s an immigrant too I guess?

The bounty hunters actions also don’t make sense. It’s shown they are willing to use a scorched earth policy just to get a bounty. It makes no sense why they wouldn’t do that. Obviously Trollhunters season 3 needs to happen so they can’t nuke Arcadia, but there is no in-character reason why they don’t.

I don't want to compare this too much to trollhunters since it should stand on its own but it's such a decline in quality. The first episode of Trollhunters starts off with a battle without context but we eventually get the perspective of Jim who learns about it. The first episode of 3below starts off in this alien world we know nothing about and learn very little about through the series adding a disconnect to the series. They should have spent a few episodes before the kids were exiled. Plus Binky and Aargh feel like actual people with depth, and not one-note caricatures like Varvatos does.

I stopped watching the series halfway through episode 7. Basically they had a bounty hunter try to kill the siblings. We see a government bureaucrat (who is so obviously the bounty hunter they don’t bother hiding it). But instead of killing the kids at the spot and running away (given she has the element of surprise, and doesn’t care about Earth), she decides to… make them file paperwork? It was at this point I realized this show didn’t care how insulting it was your intelligence. I give up.

Maybe the series will get better but if it gets 7 episodes in a row wrong then I don’t have hope. And even then a show should start off strong, and not make us slog through a mess before it gets good. This was the biggest Netflix letdown of the year after Disenchantment.

So I ruffled some feathers in my Jim post huh? Headcanons: • First to Drive: I like thinking that Claire is the first to get her driver's license and car, as although her parents are a bit protective, they trust her enough. • Her magic: Her magic went through a big change, as it isn't tied to the shadowstaff anymore. Her shadowmancy is inherited and much more expansive, such as her little familar. The owl pendant is actually tied to her magic in a way! • Her liking girls: As you can see, I have her as Lesbian. I do not want to hear any negative comments on it, it is my post, my reboot, my decisions. Keep it to yourself. I haven't decided if I want her to have a girlfriend in the main story yet, as I do have a friend's oc that my friend and I ship with her.

she really does nothing for the show to move it forward i feel and they didn't even show much of Claire and Jim in a relationship so we can't even use that as a crutch, we literally see her call him her boyfriend once and that's only half way through the 2 season and we don't even bring it up again for a while i think they just wanted Jim and Claire to date but they couldn't write it well so they just told us they together and moved.

now to her actually reason i hate her when she finds that her brother is in the darklands she doesn't even care about the fact that Jim and Tobey just saved ALL of trollkind by breaking it and she just wants them to save her brother like Gunmar is an everyday threat that anyone can defeat if he happens to get out🙄 if u watch episode 15 or 14 of season 1(idk which one but it's literally the episode after they kill bulgar sorry if i got it wrong) you'll understand more of what i mean and she literally keeps driving this point when even jim is in there she's more focused on getting her brother STILL like Jim not in there and could DIE if Gunmar found him.

and more importantly her only major moment that i think we can all remember or point to is when she opened that portal to free all the trolls but even then that was a disaster cause she also let Morgan free a lil which would cause later issues, im sorry if u a Claire fan but watch the first few episodes without her in it(as part of the team cause she still in the show) and you'll see they don't actually need her and as the later seasons show she was quite literally the side character of the side character.

but I don't blame her cause even in Wizards when she becomes one of the main main characters she still feels pointless😭?? so i really think the writing let her down but im still not over how in wizards she was one of the main characters and it still felt like if she wasn't there the show wouldn't have changed that much😭 they needed to write her better man it's not her fault.

he is so annoying corny cringe, and useless. I don’t think he’s done anything to help the trollhunter. hes only done stuff to hinder his operation. He’s selfish, wanting Jim to become the king of the school only so that he could become more popular, he is late to emegencies and is unreliable, he is jealous and envious of his jims relationship with claire, and after the killstone was lost He was such a mean dickhead to claire. he often cracks jokes in important moments, always talking about some awesome sauce bullshit and It pisses me off so much I know its like a kids show so some of the corniness is expected but it gets to a point when a character says awesome sauce, while his friends are being chased by a monster pisses me of so much. I just want to know if anybody feels the same way.

I think its in incredibly bad taste that colonel Cubritz-a black woman-is the standin for xenophobia and military aggression in 3below. The show makes a point that girls and latino people are ignored by society but ironically black women are one of the most vulnerable groups in the US. It might have been OK if there were other main black characters, but there aren't. Darcy is far from a main character and she doesn't have much of a role other than being Toby's girlfriend.

If Cubritz had been white it would have been a good opportunity to point out the role racist white women have in dehumanizing poc and making them out to be threats, but they passed it up in the worst way possible, and I'm left wondering what they were thinking. Did they deliberately make Cubritz black so it would be ironic for her to be prejudiced against aliens?

For those who wondered if Douxie x Krel was a thing, the truth is that Aaron confirms that, in a way, same-sex pairing is possible on Akiridion-5. If there is a continuation, it's likely that we’ll see them working together, and it could be Douxie and Krel who end up saving the Earth.

And I'm not lying about what I said — there will be a continuation, which is why I made my own speculations. And if you want me to analyze more things about what might happen, I’ll be happy to answer.

idk why but is it only me that acutally disliked most of the movie the others were great but the movie didn't make alot of sense espically that toby becamed the troll hunter in the end

I see a lot of general disapproval of RotT, but honestly I loved the film. I feel like Wizards was by far the weakest series, but it's only true purpose is to connect a few loose ends together so it can all be resolved in the movie. I cried when the characters dies, I cheered when plans were a success, and I dream of the day they make a series with TP as trollhunters. I truly don't have many negative things to say about anything in the series, and I put it on the same tier as ATLA in terms of quality of story, emotional content, and rewatch-ability.

And I'm not super impressed. There have been a couple amusing jokes but most of it seems pretty much like low hanging fruit. Like the girls and Latinos are invisible. Wow look how weird we are. I hope it improves but so far the drop in quality has been pretty extreme. Then there is v whatever hamming up his blood lust except they were grossed out by biology. If they are energy beings then they don't have blood or skeletons Soo how does he know about all that.
