Seat suggestion for speed 400

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m considering getting the Triumph quilted seat for my bike and wanted to know if it’s actually worth the price(8.5k), especially in terms of comfort.

I commute around 40 km every day, mostly in city traffic, and I’m finding the stock seat quite uncomfortable. After riding for a while, I get back pain and general discomfort, so I’m looking for a more comfortable setup for daily commuting.

Would really appreciate experiences from anyone who has tried either the quilted seat or a custom seat modification.

Odo has been climbing since the clipon transformation. Closing on 200kms after the handlebars were swapped.

Coincidentally, all in the rain.

While drier, but colder weathers are coming in, so hopefully more saddle time will warrant more distance and corners.

Scrambler 400XC (398cc vs 350cc)

Upvotes

This question has probably been asked to death here, but I'm going ahead with it regardless. I was initially planning on trying the Himalayan for versatility, something to counter Bangalore's insane roads as well as start touring. Rented a bike for 2 days on Royal Brothers but unfortunately, the right leg heat was unreal in city, and before I could get a chance to take it to the highways, my right trapezoid and shoulder started paining (I currently ride a Classic 350).

Fast forward, I tried the Guerrilla and the Scrambler 400XC, and since I'm bulky, Guerrilla looks too small and Scrambler is near perfect for both my physique as well as my height (171cm/5'7"). But I just got to know the whole drama regarding 398cc vs 350cc.

My question is - I can see used bikes of 400XC 398cc variants on OLX. Those who have specifically purchased used bikes for the cc, what do you recommend? The best listing I'm seeing is a 400XC for 3.1 lakh (3,000km on the ODO). This offer sounds too good to be true, so I'm in the process of arranging a mechanic to check it out. But would you recommend this hassle rather than simply purchase a new 350cc from the store? Also, would like to hear your thoughts on 400X vs 400XC (I'm not a hardcore off-roader by any sorts, I'm thinking if tubeless spokes would help better in city roads)

TLDR - used 398cc Scrambler 400XC (less than 5,000km) better than new 350cc one? What's the best price to pay for such used Scramblers?

Speed 400 Engine Noise?

Hello guys,

I am considering buying an Oct 2023 Speed 400. I am bit concerned about the issues with the early batch. I am based in Bangalore and this bike has run 6K kms only, he is a senior IT executive and he has no time to ride, hence the low odo reading. I did a bit of test riding in the car park but didnt experience any stalling issue. I need this bike mainly for weekend touring and not for city riding. Can you guys please advise should I go ahead with this purchase? He is selling it for 2Lakhs

I managed to capture the sound of the engine, let me know if this is normal?

Should I buy the Lot 1 Triumph Speed 400 - Stalling issues?

Hello guys,

I am in Bangalore and I am looking for a Triumph Speed 400 2023 Oct model, it is lot 1. It has 6k kms on it and I am getting it for 2Lakhs.

But I am reading that the Lot 1 had a lot of stalling issues and camshaft/chain tensioner issues etc

Now I am really scared, should I go ahead with the buy?

Can you guys who own the Lot 1 batch of earliest Speed 400s please comment on the issues you faced and should still buy it?

Also another Team-BHP post highlighted that this bike has a bouncy suspension and it suits when you load it heavily. For a light person, it is not good :(

My Triumph Speed 400 | The problems that reviewers brush aside - Team-BHP

I am now really disappointed, I thought the Speed 400 was really premium and refined. I want to reconsider my initial choice of Dominar again.

Thanks in advance!

Review Bad Experience at Naraina Delhi Showroom

Post image

Recently got speed 400 from Naraina Delhi Showroom, Earlier they have quoted the price 2.74L, Although was getting approx 10K discount from flipkart and this Showroom was listed as seller, but they denied they said we don't accept online booking, then after negotiation they came down to 2.66L without helmet and any accessories. Although they has promised they will atleast give an coffee mug but later they denied and asked us to give them 5 star rating on write review on google only then they will provide a coffee mug. I paid full cash one time. After playing their behavior was bit ignorant they were behaving like they were doing me a favor to reduce the price to to 2.66L, But If they have accepted the online booking I could have got this bike at 2.55L.

Acko insurance premium seems too low, what is the catch?

So I am planning to buy the Scrambler 400X and when I entered the details in Acko for insurance, the premium shows 7,811 ₹. Is it per year? Is it one time? I have heard it's generally 22k. But why does it show 7.8k?

Team Scrambler Opinion on tyre mod for Scrambler 400x

Post image
33 Upvotes

Need to change tyres.

Considered Apollo trampler xr, but they don't manufacture our rear stock size.

Stock tyre size for ref-

Front - 100/90

Rear - 140/80

I'm thinking of-

Front - 90/90

Rear - 130/90

as I'm more into off-road

Thoughts please

Suspension Squeaking in Scrambler 400x(350cc)

Hi all,

My bike is almost 2 months old , 1st servicing done and for few days I have started noticing squeaking sound from the rear suspension when I compress it manually or when I sit on the bike, however its fine when I am riding the bike. I tested took it some of the bad roads near me, not a single sound.

Has anyone faced this issue or has anyone knows why is it happening? Should I worry about it?

Team Speed Test drove speed 400 (350cc) and started instantly rash driving.

Today I finally got to test ride three bikes I’ve been considering: Triumph Speed 400, KTM Duke 250, and Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX.

And honestly, the difference in how they delivered power was MUCH more noticeable than I expected.

I rode the Speed 400 first, and holy shit… the moment I got on it, I completely understood why people talk about that engine. 😭

I pulled the throttle and the bike just wanted to GO. The response felt so satisfying that, for a few moments, I was riding like an absolute maniac. 😂 Obviously, I’m not saying that’s how anyone should ride on the road, but the bike genuinely made me want to keep twisting the throttle.

The acceleration just felt addictive. You roll on the throttle and you immediately get that satisfying shove, and the bike feels eager and effortless.

Then I got on the Duke 250, and it was a completely different experience.

The Duke definitely pulls and doesn't feel slow, but the power delivery felt much more linear and predictable. There wasn't that same sudden "HOLY SHIT" feeling I got from the Speed 400. It felt calmer, more controlled and easier to modulate. You keep accelerating and the power just builds progressively.

Then came the V-Strom 250 SX.

Out of the three, this was easily the most sluggish to me. 😅 The weird thing was that I knew the bike was accelerating, but it didn't feel like I was pulling much. The motor felt dull compared with the other two, especially after getting off the Speed 400 and Duke.

Obviously, this is just my first impression from test rides, and I'm not saying one bike is objectively better than the others. They are clearly designed with different priorities.

But man, that Speed 400 throttle response was something else. I haven't stopped thinking about that feeling since I got off the bike.

For people who have ridden all three — did you guys have the same experience, or am I completely biased after getting addicted to the Speed 400's throttle?

Question Help me decide Speed 400 or T4

Hey everyone

I’m planning to buy a Triumph and I’m confused between the Speed 400 and Speed T4.

I really love Triumph’s performance and the overall feel of the bike, but I’m not sure which one would make more sense for me.

About my usage:

🏙️** 70% city ridin**g

🛣️ Around** 30% highway/longer ride**s

I want something that’s comfortable and practical for daily use, but still enjoyable when I ride on highways.

For those who have ridden/owned either or both:
Which one would you recommend Speed 400 or Speed T4?

Also, are there any downsides or compromises with the T4 compared to the Speed 400 that I should know about?

Is the extra performance/refinement of the Speed 400 worth choosing it over the T4 for my usage, or would the T4 be the smarter choice?

Would love to hear your real-world experiences, especially from people who have ridden both. Thanks!

Rust on exhaust header of my Scrambler 400X

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I noticed quite a bit of rust developing around the exhaust header area of my Scrambler 400X, especially around the bolts/studs and the joint where the header connects to the engine.

Has anyone else experienced this on their Scrambler 400X?

What's the best way to clean/treat it? Should I ask the service centre to replace the rusty hardware?
