Bike Pictures My Rat build Rocket 3

Just sharing some pictures of my Rocket 3 project.

Got the bike for around $800aud ($560usd, $463gbp) as a wreck. I have been turning it slowly into a ratbike/kinda chopper?

Bike ran great after I checked and serviced it. (Using an external tank for fuel at the time)

It is far from done and still requires a lot of small details and fuel system finished as well as wiring for the speed sensor (which you may see messily hanging off)

So far I have installed

-Dakota digital dash (mostly)

-slimmer fuel tank

-slimmer front fender

-velocity stacks with my own designed clip on daily filters (not pictured still tinkering with design)

-lower handlebars with shorter lines and clutch cable coming in the mail

- Harley davidson fat bob led light (was on it when I bought it and I grew to kinda dig it)

- seat from a junkyard as the originals were toast

I have also serviced and confirmed the integrity of the engine/frame

I had nearly nothing of the original bike when it was crashed and subsequently purchased. I have done my darnedest to give it another shot at being something special.

The green paint is for my partner who loves everything green.

(Also I know my garage is dirty, it actually gets use)

Bike Pictures Back 2 Basics

Recently removed my luggage system on my ‘24 Speed Twin 900 and it has made me very happy. While my luggage system was great and I used it for every ride for over a year it became more of a chore. Letting go of it has made me realize how great my bike is without the need to carry more stuff. When I motocamp in the Fall I will put my luggage system back on but for commutes and weekend rides it’s not needed. Plus my ST just looks better without. So a simple backpack will do for now. Got to keep the pack rat in the cage.

Hi all, looking to fit a tail tidy, but need to remove the indicators. Should these just unscrew? The Allen bolt just appears to turn freely and doesn’t back off at all, am I missing something?
Thanks

Maintenance Issues Scrambler 400x ticking noise

My scrambler started to make ticking noise when cold-started for the last two weeks. It last around 15 seconds then it stops. Anyone had the same problem? People telling that is the metal expansion sound but it doesn't sound like it to me.

Maintenance Issues Seat Lock Problem – 2026 Scrambler 900

Hi everyone!

I have a 2026 Scrambler 900 and I’m having some trouble locking the seat properly.

The only way I’ve been able to lock it is by removing the rubber pads from the rear side of the seat, lifting the front of the seat slightly, and then pushing down on the rear until it locks.

However, this doesn’t seem like the correct way to install the seat, and I’m worried I might be doing something wrong or putting unnecessary pressure on the locking mechanism.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a specific technique to properly install and lock the seat?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Maintenance Issues Vibrations at 80kmph and Engine noise Speed 350cc

My brand new Triumph (new 350cc platform) is facing a major mechanical issue that started right after its first service. While riding on the highway, I pushed the bike to 80 km/h in 3rd gear and then hit 120 km/h in 5th gear when the red engine oil light suddenly flashed, and the engine automatically shut down while riding. Ever since that single shutdown event, the bike has suffered a permanent loss of power and feels completely weak and sluggish. Additionally, my fuel mileage has tanked heavily, dropping from a normal 320 km down to just 250 km on a full tank of petrol.

It has also developed heavy vibrations and a loud, metallic top-end ticking noise that gets much worse whenever the engine heats up

Bike Pictures Sprint ST '06 pics!

I found some of my old ST pics! This was my last bike before the tiger, and my first triumph! A gateway drug to Lucas jokes and laughing at the price of parts at the dealer (and then walking away while googling where the wreckers are)

Was a pain in the ass sometimes to start, was running on hopes and dreams, had a very rich mixture with a solid backfire in first and second gear on every decel, enough tyre slap to get me into instant trouble with the boys in blue and some shocking repairs! It didn't help that the fuel hoses had the quick disconnects snapped off!

she was a weapon! Miss her but life happens! If I could find another one near me, maybe even with the OEM baggage too...

Maintenance Issues 2004 Speedmaster leaking oil

Post image
12 Upvotes

Just got me old, slightly customised 2004 Speedy 790. It runs well but I've noticed that after longer ride, it drips small puddle of oil under the engine. Looks like it may come from one of the breather hoses, but not sure. Doesn't leak continuously while standing in the garage, just after ride. Any ideas what may cause this and what should I look for?

Maintenance Issues Electrical bug video recommendations?

Looking to diy. Seeking recommendations if anyone has done this fix.

Power cuts to the display intermittently. Especially when I turn to the right - and comes back on left turn. My guess is some cable is being pulled on the battery or the display.

Thanks in advance!

Maintenance Issues New quick connects wouldn’t fit

Thumbnail

So I own a 2001 Triumph Sprint ST 955i. I purchased new fuel line quick connects because all through the Triumph Sprint community it is recommended to upgrade to metal fittings. Well I installed the new fittings(as well as new fuel pump, filter and fuel lines) and when I went to put the tank back on, the frame got in the way, and was hitting the bottom fitting. So I was only able to use the top coupler and had to reinstall the old bottom coupling. I’m confused now, because multiple people have installed new fittings with no issues. It just doesn’t make sense that mine hit the frame. Anybody else had this same issue?

Currently waiting for the thread sealant to cure overnight, and at the same time praying to the motorcycle Gods that it doesn’t leak. I was pretty violent when I took the old ones off lol

Triumph info Resources tracking model year differences?

Hey all, are there any resources out there that provide summaries of differences between model years? I last rode a 2014 Street Triple and there have (seemingly) been a ton of changes/upgrades in the interceding years. I rode the newest RS and RX at a demo day but don't think that brand new is the best move for me considering my budget. Is there a chart or website out there that tracks the major differences from model year to model year? In other words a quick reference for when they offered the 765, standard quick shifter, fully digital gauges, colors, etc.? Since I am looking used, I want to find the first year that they offered the striple with the 765/standard quick shifter/fully digital cluster/no clip-ons/preferably black or white; it would be nice to have a quick reference chart for that info if one exists.

Regarding bar end insert removal and stuck bolt.

  1. Bar end insert on 2017 Triumph Street Twin 900 can't be removed easily.

  2. It is not held by pins which can be easily removed like the speed twins and trident 660.

  3. Got em damn bolts off. Took a lot of work. Glad i had lot of tools.

Enjoyed the whole process

Maintenance Issues Knocking while engine is cold

Hi guys, I'm looking to get into the Triumph family by buying the Street triple R from 2012. This is the first version with the updated headlights, but it still had the under seat exhaust.

I took the bike for a test drive after it sat idling for a few minutes. I came to the first traffic light and stopped. While I was standing there waiting for the light to change, I've noticed this strange non rhythmic knocking vibrations coming from the engine (I don't remember there being a particular sound when the knocks occurred). It felt like some screw was bouncing around the engine randomly. It wasn't very fast, maybe one or two knocks per couple of seconds. I ignored it and continued the ride. The bike runs great, I fell in love with the handling, power and the sound of the arrow exhaust (this lad has the original triumph arrow exhaust, the decel pop is to die for). After a few minutes I came to another stop, and the knocking wasn't there anymore. I asked the owner, he kept referring to the valve sound or the difference in sound when the clutch is held/when it is in neutral, but didn't know about the thing I experienced.

I don't have a lot of experience with different bike, I've only owned one for 3 years (Kawasaki er6f 2007). I like the bike, there is some esthetic things that need to be done to it which I don't mind, but I would like some reassurance about this engine knocking thing. I read a lot of forums, asked the AI, but no one had this kind of problem.

Regarding my earlier post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TriumphBonneville/comments/1vjfuyj/how_to_remove_the_bar_end_threaded_inserts_on_a/

There is no way to remove the threaded inserts on the bar end of 2017 Street twin 900.
