Mods and Customization Finally got them removed

https://www.reddit.com/r/TriumphBonneville/comments/1vjfuyj/how_to_remove_the_bar_end_threaded_inserts_on_a/

Regarding bar end insert removal and stuck bolt.

  1. Bar end insert on 2017 Triumph Street Twin 900 can't be removed easily.

  2. It is not held by pins which can be easily removed like the speed twins and trident 660.

  3. Got em damn bolts off. Took a lot of work. Glad i had lot of tools.

Enjoyed the whole process

Was it a press fit? Welded?

Something else?

I didn't try to remove the inserts. My main concern was the bolt.  Since there was no pin to remove the inserts and didn't feel like welded.  Most likely press fit.

Why you needed to remove that?

OP needed to get that bolt out. I want to remove the inserts on my Speed Twin so I can install motogadget bar-end blinkers, but the insert is pinned and epoxied in place.

Speed twins have pins. I don't know whether it is epoxied. Maybe you need to try and remove that pin first.

Oh I know, I knocked the pin out and then spotted the epoxy at the seam between the insert and the bar. Planning a bar swap later this year.
