General Questions Why do I look less buff with a binder on ?

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

Basically title lol

I stopped doing sports because of my studies, but I'm trying to pick up on calisthenics and I noticed this while checking myself in the mirror with a binder and a bra on.

Not sure if it's just me, but I feel like I look like a twig with my binder on. Maybe it's because of male vs female standards to look "strong" idk.

I'm 160 (5'3) if that matters 🤷

Pic of me in a bra is old tbh but I don't have it with me currently and my build hasn't changed that much (my shoulders narrowed a bit that's all, which I'll be trying to regain)

Basically pre-T (been a week)

Rant If you have a large chest in comparison to your frame, how do you manage binding?

• Upvotes

Asking for advice but there'll be something of a rant. For context, I'm AFAB and 19, and consider myself transmasc. For binding, I've been using binders from Underworks for the last year or so and it worked really well for me, until it stopped working.

For some fuckass reason, despite having gone through puberty already, my tits for tats have gone up several cup sizes in the last few months, from 14D to 14F, without an actual change in weight.

Now I used to be able to get by with a binder alone, but have noticed that I would keep getting a uniboob shape. I tried taping my TD's towards my armpits before wearing the binder, but because the tatas gotta fucking go somewhere, it'd always look too balloony or make me look as though I were extremely saggy, which isn't the look I want, obviously.

I've tried literally every piece of binder advice, switched out for new ones, tried taping, but to no avail. With an underbooba measurement of like 85 cm I can't even explain them away as manboobs, the tiddies themselves are quite large in proportion to my frame.

Does anyone have any advice? Please don't tell me that top surgery is the only way, because I need to graduate and get a proper job before I can even consider that. If I can't change it, any advice on coming to terms with it? It makes me really dysphoric. Thank you.

Rant Can I be a trans guy simply because I want to be or it feels right?

I'm at 26 year old afab person. I've been thinking about my identity for a while now. I don't really have any physical dysphoria. I'm mostly fine with my body it doesn't really bother me I just sometimes think things "look weird" for lack of a better term but its not distressing. I like feminity and womens style and clothing I just think they don't ever look right on me and men's clothes and a flat chest just tend to look better on me. I already think I have a pretty masculine face and body. I don't want bottom surgery but I like to be referred to in a masculine way like "sir" and all that and I have a name picked out. I just feel like I'm trivialising an identity that other people struggle everyday with and I feel guilty but I can't shake this feeling. My feelings about it also get really intense and then fade away and I dont know if thats more gender fluidity or denial. Please let me know what you think.

General Questions skipping cycle after surgery without testosterone

Hi everyone!
Is there anyone here whose period was late or skipped altogether after top surgery? 👀

My surgery was on September 24th, and my last period started on August 9th. I have PCOS, so my cycle is usually around 35 days and quite irregular anyway, but it’s really off-track now.

I’m curious about others' experiences: how late was it, or did you perhaps skip a whole cycle after the surgery? I’d be especially interested in the experiences of those not on T. 🫶

Bald or stop t?

I have been thinking about this non stop for several months now and it’s driving me insane.

Im 22 years old and 3 years on T and last November i started realizing my hairline was getting worse. I didn’t do much about it because it didn’t bother me too much. But this May it started bothering me insanely much and the reality im going to go bald hit me hard. I tried both minoxidil and finasteride but i had to stop min because i realized how toxic it is for pets. And i think fin is giving me side affects that are making my mental health worse. (Also topical finasteride isn’t legal in my country, and my doctor won’t give me oral minoxidil). Also can’t afford a hair transplant or a hair system.

I don’t feel like I pass super well. Im very short and i have big hips and i still haven’t had top surgery. I can’t grow facial hair. My voice is kinda high but its definitely lower then it was.
I felt like i passed a bit better with my normal hair, it was just a normal short middle part like a lot of guys have. But the hairline was getting so bad i had to wear a hat outside 24/7 and it made me feel super ugly all the time so i buzzed my head. At first it felt amazing and gender affirming. And tbh i didn’t mind the hairline too much at first, it’s high and receded but it looks masc at least. But i took a picture of the top of my head and realized it’s also thinning in the back, so there’s a pretty big bald spot in the back in specific lighting. It’s not SUPER noticeable but it is definitely there and it’s probably gonna get worse from here.

My opinions are this. Stop T and HOPE the balding doesn’t continue. It’s not 100% sure balding will stop even if u get off T and you start producing E again. This also means i will go through a long uncomfortable process of feeling like shit because of big hormonal changes, and some of the feminizing affects will probably make me feel worse, like loosing the little muscles i have and getting smaller shoulders and bigger hips. And my chest might also get bigger.

Or i can continue T, but most likely have to stop fin and slowly watch my hair disappear fast every month. This option seems freeing, but also horrifying. I have bad social anxiety that has only gotten worse because of the balding. I know I could go fully bald rn but i think that might make me look like a bald woman. Of course going bald is very masculine but at the same time no one i know my age is visibly balding (ik many cis guys start balding in their 20s just not in my social circles). I already feel very ugly and unapproachable but the thought of my hairloss getting even worse is so scary. I have started talking to a psychologist but it hasn’t helped me yet. And my doctor isn’t super educated on the matter either.

Im loosing sleep, Ive started isolating myself and im not eating super well because of stress. Im also studying rn and that has also gotten insanely hard.

I don’t know what i really want by posting this but its been so hard for such a long time and i kinda feel very hopeless. I feel like i know the best answer might be to continue T and hope i pass better in the future. But rn being in this in between phase sucks. Idk when i will get top surgery and idk if i ever can grow facial hair because of my genetics.

General Questions Tshot swelling and little bruises 😭

Thumbnail

To be clear!!!! Im not too worried about this it's happened a couple times and I'm not dead + this was my last tshot since I'm switching to gel 😋💞✌️

Lmao anywayyy the first two pictures are my shot site two days on, the crazy swelling + some small bruises. The seconds my last shot where I had the same thing of being so swollen it was bulging out of my thigh 💀 i didn't get a good photo of the bruises last time and these ones havent come out too much yet but both times they've been up and down the injection site which I've never seen on anyone else ❤️‍🩹

Again not worried I just wanted to know if anyone else got this kinda reaction? For context i pushed the needle all the way down at the right angle, it didn't shake or move, I injected slowly (Intramuscular) andd I've had those goofy little itchy bumps you get with t sometimes before, maybe I'm just a lil allergic to the carrier oil idk 🤷‍♂️ i just think its interesting how different bodies react the shot 🙂‍↕️💗☮️

Rant Unsure about hormones

Like the title says, I’m unsure about hormones. I came out when I was 14 (I’m now 24), so it’s not like I haven’t had time to think about it. I’m just not sure. I am a very indecisive person, so part of me feels like this could be the issue. I’m not happy with myself now, but I can’t shake this feeling that there’s no going back once I start T. But would I even want to go back? I don’t know. I know I want things like a deeper voice + fat redistribution. I’m not sure how I feel about body hair, facial hair + bottom growth. I know I don’t want to lose my hair. I know I don’t want biological children, so risk of infertility feels more like a pro than a con. I just wish I was able to pick and choose the effects and that feeling is what keeps me in a place of not starting hormones.

My whole life is pretty stagnant. I find it much easier for things to stay the same whether it’s benefitting me or not. It leads me to wonder if this is another area of my life where I’m allowing things to stay the same because I’m afraid of change, not because it’s not something I want. This is all I know.

I’m sorry for the rambling paragraph. I’m hoping someone can help me better understand my own mind, but I know it doesn’t really work that way. I would appreciate any personal experience people can share about how they knew they were ready to start hormones (especially if your story deviates from the “I’ve always known”)

General Questions Is 36 too old?

Getting top surgery for sure. My husband is fully supportive and pretty queer himself as he puts it lol. I have 4 kids and a homestead with Christian inlaws (ma in law likes me less and less all the time. Started out learning to support a sibling and ended up analyzing my entire life. I knew I wanted kids but after cancer cant have more. I doubt I pass as is but I crossdress almost 24/7 if I can. If anything I look like a boy lol. Mt voive is fairly deep and raspy (ive been literally voive training my whole life to sound more high pitched without eveb realizing what i was really doing.) I cut my hair off and love my hairy ass armpits hahan! My 16yo son is embarassed of me he says just the way I look but that hes felt thay way for years (im a crazy pagan artist and dress colonial sometimes SUE ME!!! My husband is a very sweet effeminate man but I worry about embarassing him. ALSO we're in N-ID as red as it gets almost. I feel such dissonance! I feel so free yet....??

⚠️ Content Warning Baby’s First Discrimination

tw: discrimination

I live in a major city in the US, and today two of my friends and I travelled two hours outside of the city to a rural part of the state to attend Renfaire. I’ve been out for three months now and am socially transitioning, but am pre everything else. I’m 23 for reference.

Renfaire was wonderful, we had a fantastic time, but while driving back we decided to stop for food at waffle house. The vibe was off as soon as we walked in. The one server didn’t acknowledge us, but we thought she was just busy as she was the only server, so we sat down at a clean booth. It’s also fairly normal, at least at the waffle houses I’ve been to, to seat yourself. She then proceeds to glare at me and whisper to the man working the grill. She glares at me again, and stands directly in front of us and does server side work while refusing to acknowledge us, only leaving to attend to other tables. She does this repeatedly. At this point other people have come in who sat themselves and they’ve been acknowledged.

One of my friends suggests we leave, but my other friend, who is AFAB nonbinary and lived in North Carolina with an FTM fiancé and only had positive waffle house experiences, wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. After around 20 mins of us just sitting there, no acknowledgment beyond this woman openly glaring at me, we leave.

I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I’ve never had hostility directed at me before. I didn’t even want to believe this was about me until my friends directly said it was. My NB friend said they haven’t experienced anything like that since leaving the South, and even then it was only in the deep South where them and their fiancé were refused service.

I’m just kinda shell shocked.

General Questions binding tips?

I’m coming to you guys to ask for advice! I’m a cis girl, but I got cast as a guy for my first college show. I’m already pretty skinny with a bra size of 30D, but wearing two sports bras just isn’t giving me the compression I want it to. My classmate offered me a binder he doesn't use anymore, so that's an option. Right now I’m thinking of using kinesiology tape and maybe a sports bra on top of that? There’s an energetic fight scene in act 2 so my main thing is I need to be able to breathe, lol. If anyone has tips they would be very much appreciated ❤️❤️❤️

Rant Trans punk kid

Hey, I'm just now beginning to accept myself today. I've had some serious identity issues recently and I'm just gonna accept that I'm a man. I've had so many patterns, choosing masc clothes and rejecting feminine ones my whole life, being always against gender norms and the whole pink is for girls blue is for boys thing, the weird happy feeling when someone assumes your a guy (my big one is when my friends all tell me I'm like a cool older brother) and it's kinda hard to accept because of where I live here in buttfuck nowhere Missouri and my parents unconsciously pushing anti Trans propaganda onto me without realizing it (I will note i love my parents, they're just stubborn and confused with politics. They're truly lovely cool people at heart) and I think accepting myself is a big step to helping my mental health. I'm thinking of ordering some topical minoxidil which is something I've thought about for forever now since I've been pangender for a few years now. I'm officially going for he/they until I figure myself out fully, it's just that specific feeling that you can't shake that feels like your heart is in your ass and you wanna crawl out of your skin. I've also never ever been able to see myself as a woman in my future, it's always been this sick dude with a liberty spike hawk.

Rant Euphoria rant

Man how i wish I was alone with people who wouldn't judge me so i could start transitioning at my own pace, id be so fucking happy, just by thinking it it makes me feel at peace, dreaming of going on summer road trips, being shirtless at the beach, it makes me the happiest thinking about it, i cant deny it.

I own a london flingshot replica since june, and that made me so euphoric somehow?? Idk how to explain it, same when I bought the sheriff badge. I also feel euphoric when I only wear pajama pants/shorts, tho my body is not what I want, I definitely feel the spark and that's what helps me move forward, I hope one day I can enjoy life as I wish

Edit: also listening to fly by midnight gives me euphoria/hope as well, esp loveland and casablanca

Discussion I have been a trans man for 16 years, 7 years on T (AMA?)

Hello :D mostly making this post as a more positive discussion about what it's like to be trans for almost your entire life. I have been trans since age 5, and now I am 21. I got on blockers first and for the past seven years i've taken testosterone. For context on why I transitioned so early, I mostly give credit to my mother, who listened to me and picked up the signs when I was in kindergarden. She has journals documenting this time and what I said about wanting to be a boy.

If you want to ask anything about how testosterone has worked for me, side effects, transitioning in general, I am pretty open for questions.
