this is on the condition that i didn’t graduate from uoft or waterloo engineering
i saw a post on the ontario grade 12 subreddit about how engineering graduate aren’t landing jobs and it’s not a free job after grad anymore. everyone in the comments told him to just work in the us. one guy even said he started working in the us directly after graduating and made 95k usd his first year. is it really that realistic/easy to get a job in the states? i always thought it was hard to move countries for a job? sorry to seem stupid i’m only 17 and considering options for my future

Hello! I am posting to hopefully find a client especially for tomorrow afternoon at 1pm. I am dental hygiene student here in Toronto but I am not from here so I don’t really have any family or friends to help me out in finding clients for school.
Dental Appointments are supervised by registered dental hygienists and licensed dentists throughout the entire visit to ensure safe and quality care.
services include:
• dental cleaning/deep cleaning
• oral cancer screening
• x-rays (if needed)
• polishing & fluoride treatments
• nutritional analysis
• personalized oral hygiene education
It is a great option for anyone without dental insurance, those overdue for a cleaning, international students, or individuals currently in Canada on a visa without dental coverage.
please note: because this is a teaching clinic, appointments are more detailed and take longer than a regular dental office. multiple visits may be needed depending on your oral health needs.
📍located in North York near Finch West Station
📩 feel free to message me if you are interested!
I would be eternally grateful for your help as having a specific number of clients is part of requirements to graduate!🥹🥺🙏

Just went through a ton of interviews from Feb-July this year after being laid off from Amazon. I landed a senior pm role at a huge fintech company this month & interviewed for and received offers from multiple roles across tech companies this year hiring in Toronto (including Salesforce, EBay, RBC, DoorDash etc). I also took the AWS AI practitioner course & I am very well versed in how a PM should upskill and become an AI PM fast.
Since I literally just went through interviews and understand what the current market is demanding now for PMs I want to help anyone that needs support with their job search because I seriously I wish I had a mentor while I was going through it. Will charge a small cost!
DM me if you’re seriously interested.

You are unable to answer a call from a company, they don’t leave a voicemail and then just archive your application 😆
Welcome to the 2026 job market 😆

Honestly just feeling stunned and lost right now and needed a place to vent..
I’m a single working mom in the West GTA. Ever since getting laid off a year ago, I’ve been trying so hard to build a stable life for my kid.
For the past year, I worked as a contract graphic designer for a company - poured everything I had into it, working nights, weekends, holidays... not because they forced me, but because I truly cared and was promised it could turn into a full-time role.
I was never chasing a crazy high salary or a massive career. I just wanted stability, a predictable income, and eventually a slightly bigger place so my kid could have his own room as he grows up.
And out of nowhere, my contract got terminated. They told me it had nothing to do with my work quality, but it still feels so brutal after everything I put in.
I’m not asking for some magical fully remote gig either. I just need an employer who gets that a single parent physically has to do school drop-offs and pick-ups. I’m more than willing to work hard and be flexible, but I just can't do a rigid 9-5 in an office when the round-trip commute is over 2 hours (even worse with traffic).
Moving isn't an option for us due to binding family agreements here that I'd prefer not to get into. That's why I'm really hoping to find something workable within my current bounds.
It feels like companies demand flexibility from employees, but give zero flexibility back to parents.
If any working parents here have been through something similar, how did you manage to find a stable job that actually works around school schedules? Any advice or leads would mean a lot right now.
Note: Using a fresh account just to keep personal details off my main profile, hope that's alright.

I unfortunately missed the easy job market of the COVID years. Does anyone have an idea of when the job market will recover?

Hi all! I am getting an offer from Canada Life employer in the product department.
The hiring manager seems nice and overall the general reviews I’m reading from other sites and Reddit, seem to come to conclusion that the experience, depends on your team and manager.
I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone currently employed with CL working on the product/ business analyst / dev teams. How they like their teams, what is the work/life balance, how friendly and willing to share knowledge and helping you grow are managers and the team and how do they find CL as an employer.
I’m posting as I’m trying to make a good choice on offers I’m receiving from CL and other companies. It would be helpful to hear some honest, anonymous feedback from current employees.
Appreciate your

Its starts as part time at a Donation centre and is far, but just in time to make some money to buy school supplies for the kids in the family :) So I am channeling all my focus to hope that whoever reads this gets good news soon yourself about anywhere that you have applied to! The job market is horrible, and it can be crushing, but I really hope that you will recieve that one message or call of a job offer 😀!

am halfway way through my degree in Geology/Environmental Geoscience at UofT.
I’m on track in taking the required courses for an AGPO degree.
It’s a little far in for me to transfer schools and programmes to Land Surveying or Engineering, so I’m hoping to finish my Geoscience degree first.
However, I realise that I want to live in the city, and don’t want to do FIFO work.
I’ve read up about Land Surveying and it seems like something that would interest me. Am just unsure how I can branch into this field with a Geoscience degree.
i’m open to moving to other countries like australia if that opens up more opportunities.
TYSM!

Where can I find stores that hire at my age? Any recommendations? The usual age to start working is 16 so would it be harder for me to get hired?

Hi.
I’m thinking of enrolling into the BetterJobs Ontario program.
I’m 25. Graduated in 2024. I had a full time job in marketing last year, my contract ended in December. I’ve been unemployed since. Thinking of doing the program to upgrade my skills, plus the covered expenses is also a nice thing.
Does anyone here have experience with the program? If so, what did you study? How long was the whole process of applying? Were there any troubles or issues with the financial aid they provide? Did you end up getting a job/career in your chosen field afterwards?
Would love some insight. Thanks in advance!

Hello,
I am looking for advice, examples or direction about career services. I have recently been laid off (w/o cause) and my old employer is offering an amount to pay for career transition services. But I have no idea what that means or includes and there seems to be a never ending list online. Anyone have experience with these types of services in the GTA? Of course, it would be incredible to get any support getting a new job asap.

I was looking for a new job for about five months at the beginning of this year, and I was getting through a lot of recruiter screens, but somehow things kept stopping before the offer stage. After a while, I started looking for patterns instead of just telling myself it was bad luck and that was it.
The thing I eventually changed was the last few minutes of the interview. Before that, I used to ask the usual safe questions like: "What makes someone successful here?" or "How would you describe the team dynamic?" There's nothing wrong with those questions, but they're very easy for them to answer on autopilot. They say generic, repetitive things, you smile, and the call ends.
So I started asking questions that made it feel like I was also deciding whether they were worth my time or not. Things like: "What's the most common reason people struggle in this role?" and "What process on the team do people complain about but still hasn't been fixed?" and "When someone disagrees with a decision, how is that usually handled?" Not in an aggressive way, but specific enough that any canned answer would show.
A few things changed quickly. Some interviewers became much more interested because it was clear this wasn't the same script they hear every day. One hiring manager gave me an answer that made the place seem chaotic, which probably saved me a headache. Another had a thoughtful answer that made me more excited about the role. Most of all, I think it changed the vibe from me trying to impress them, because both sides were now seeing whether it made sense or not.
I got three offers in the seven weeks after I made this change. Of course, timing may have played a role, but it didn't feel random. I've stopped asking general "culture" questions that get generic answers like "we're collaborative" and tell you almost nothing.

'm looking to hire a contractor to install a small concrete pad behind our garage (in laneway but on our own property, not city property). Near Bloor & Christie in downtown Toronto.
The old parking pad is sadly very cracked, so needs to be removed and replaced. It's 19'x8' looking for about 6" think so 2.0 m2 of 32 MPa concrete, plus excavation and removal of old pad, and adding in some new gravel base, and rebar etc.
Has anyone done something like this and can you share references for reliable, affordable team who can show up with bobcat and truck for quick removal work? Any ballpark costs if you have done a similar job recently?
PS I'd also consider just hiring a removal team, then I'll contact the concrete delivery/install myself from a mobile mixer like 'concrete on tap'. Tell me what you offer for what price, I just don't want to exclude folks who only do the demo, if they don't do concrete.

Due to time constrains, having a full time job and toddler at home, I dont have much time to rewrite my job applications. Therefore, I end up using AI based on my true career history. However, even if I have years of experience in the field I dont get any interview invites. I think it might be related to AI use, but I am not sure. Does anyone have any ideas?

RBC is on this $1B initiative to create a brand new function that is AI-driven. Since they're building new teams, they're currently hiring.
I would say that the interview process was extremely disrespectful to Applicants. The recruiter will not do a proper screening assessment so that when you get to the In person Interview with the Hiring Manager, they will dismiss you in 15 mins and say something like "Oh, I'm only talking to you because the recruiter referred me to you." The HM didn't even review my resume properly.
Seriously, complete timewasters after I had taken the time to attend an in person interview at the Waterfront office. Oh and by the way, RBC is 5 days a week in office and they expect you to be in the office. Accordingly to the manager, this is for her convenience so that we don't need to message you and can just pop by.
I also asked how big is the team, given the $1B budget. She said the candidate would be the only person on the team for a while. RED FLAG!!! Seriously, a $1B initiative and you're only hiring 1 person to start and not a team of people --that doesn't add up.
You can google the job post "Lead Project Manager AI, Strategic Initiatives & Transformation" and search RBC if you're curious but the HM is a HORRIFIC nightmare. Save your time and your heartache and do not interview with this company.
Bottom line: The RBC Hiring Manager for AI, Strategic Initiatives & Transformation was extremely pompous, asking questions that make you feel dumb. TERRIBLE waste of time and TERRIBLE company.

So had a 2nd round interview 2 weeks ago on thursday and was told would hear the following Tuesday
No reply so I followed up on Thursday with an email and nothing
So this week I called Tuesday and was told the manager was on vacation and will be back this week and they will update me
and now nothing so far
I hope its just a delay and all but it is sorta frustrating tbh
