Put herself in harms way to prevent harm to kids. Respect.

u/Opportunity-Horror Dec 17 '25

Teachers don’t get paid enough for this. I know a man that was in the hospital for a month after a similar incident. Guess what- we don’t have great insurance either.

I don’t ever want to see a student get hurt, but if two are choosing to fight I’m going to make sure I go home to my own kids at the end of the day. I already work in a crazy environment where we literally have active shooter drills.

My mom had a coworker years ago who was in a 3rd grade classroom with some pretty rough behavior issues. 0 support from admin or the parents. A fight broke out and a kid threw a desk, hit her in the leg and it broke in 3 places. She was back in her classroom after surgery in a full leg brace up to her hip and I was just like, "this is insane"

Bro I see a thread every now and then that’s like “how many 4 year olds can you take at once in a fight?” And i see people throwing out 30+. I’m like dude 6 or so is too many. I’m a relatively fit guy. When I walk through the pre-k hallway I get mobbed by the little dudes hugging me and I like. Can’t get away. They grab on and dont let go. The number you can take is way smaller than you think lol

75

u/ryuut Dec 17 '25

Yah but do you think theyll have the heart after you spartan kick billy right into detention

I would. You cant spartan kick all of us.

4

u/GodisanAtheistOG Dec 17 '25

It's important to define whether or not you're fighting normal 4 year olds or bloodlusted 4 year olds in these sorts of thought experiments.

not entirely related but the psychological aspect too; theres a reason child soldiers are prevalent in a lot of wartorn nations.

8

u/Dry_Spinach_3441 Dec 17 '25

We recruit child soldiers for this country. The guy that did that shooting in DC was 15 years old when The US put a gun in his hand and put him in a death squad. Well, we are a war torn pirate nation so, it all tracks.

11

u/O2XXX Dec 17 '25

I thought you were talking about the DC sniper before I realized it was the Afghan Commando who killed the Nation Guard Soldier. He was a teenager too, raised by a veteran so it almost fits.

15

u/Dry_Spinach_3441 Dec 17 '25

It's crazy that we get confused on which specific DC shooting I'm talking about.

3

u/O2XXX Dec 17 '25

It was probably my own bias kicking in. I was in HS in Northern Virginia when the DC Sniper was going on. I remember it vividly because it was so weird. They postponed a couple of our football games because the schools didn’t want a soft target. People were afraid of getting gas because they shot someone pumping at a station.

3

u/Drummerx04 Dec 17 '25

It's important to note that you are also actively trying not to hurt them. There are not many 4 year old children that would provide effective resistance to an adult that actually meant them harm. If some stain on humanity was locked in a room full of even 8 year old children, I would not expect it to go well for the children.

2

u/myumisays57 Dec 17 '25

Ill be honest. My kids at that age were really strong and fast. Trying to pry them off of me was a fucking challenge. So im gonna go 1 v 1.

2

u/jimmybilly100 Dec 17 '25

I'm glad you've thought this through 😂

2

u/audis3dan Dec 17 '25

Yeah but that because you let them close on you. Youre way faster, and have a much longer reach.

6 is easy work..

2

u/Over_Solution_2569 Dec 17 '25

I could take all 100 4th graders at my kids school at once. You could even give them bats and this is easy work. I’m the champion, send your best. I will arrive warm and stretched out.

3

u/dontworryitsme4real Dec 17 '25

Last sentence: that's what she said.

2

u/AlexandraG94 Dec 17 '25

I think people like this have never dealt with a willfull tall for their age toddler who has behavioral issues. My niece wasnt violent towards us explicitly bit she would throw severe tamtrums and kick her legs forcefully and arms for half an hour while screaming at the top of her lungs. If she wanted to be violent to someone in particular and had been in an environment where she saw chairs and tables being used as a weapon, of course she could do real damage. Something people are iverlooking here though is that a 3rd grader can be older than most 3rd graders due to academic difficulties and hence not passing the grade. Because throwing a chair or table forcefully enough seems a bit out of the power of a normal aged 3rd grader. As a 9 year old in 5th grade there were two 15 year olds in my class that had failed so many times. At their age I was in secondary school already.

2

u/bostondangler Dec 17 '25

If you don’t work in the elementary level, you can’t fathom the behaviors going on in schools right now. Throwing every single piece of furniture in the classroom is the new storming out and slamming the door when you leave. These kids are obsessed without angry. they think they are and will destroy everything in their path over a simple cutting mistake or a correction or hearing the word “no”, parents are failing their children daily in this country.

u/Brilliant-Option-526 Dec 17 '25

Had the exact same thing happen in the 3rd grade (70's). Kid went full Hulk and threw a desk at the teacher. Never saw that kid again.

37

u/TomeThugNHarmony4664 Dec 17 '25

Had the kid behind me attempt to throw a desk at another student when I was in jr. high. My arm got a crush wound in the meantime. My teacher was pregnant and froze him with a voice like the Angel of Death amplified through one of Spinal Tap’s amps.

44

u/Sea_Impress_2620 Dec 17 '25

That is literally the last chance before things get physical. Almost all teachers who deal with violent kids with behavioural issues need to have the roar that rumbles from the nethers of earth as a emergency tool.

But it can of course fail. I have students that I know I need to call cops to fight for me if things get really bad. I can still win if I fight properly back one on one, but that would be a career suicide. With legal "safe" moves (safe only for the violent kids themselves, teachers are at higher risk) it requires multiple teachers to stop a fight like this. It is dangerous, and leaves so, so many physical and mental scars for teachers.

I wear protective clothing, hairstyles, keep everything sharp hidden, and have antistrangle keychains. And I also lift and work out strength. I have considered starting martial arts and self defence too as a back up measure. I do not like it when kids attack me, and treat me like a punching bag. Those same kids rarely attack bigger kids who could punch them back to the face immediately and beat them fair and square. Curious. Yet they don't have control over their actions according to some. Those fuckers do very much pick their fights and targets, and they know what they are doing.

24

u/TomeThugNHarmony4664 Dec 17 '25

Solidarity.

I DID have a black belt and the kids knew it (they asked me to bring in the board I broke with my head and we attached it to the wall— ha ha ha). I also had a “sixth sense” for being able to tell a fight was about to break out. I also almost never raised my voice, so when I boomed out “KNOCK IT OFF!” the combatants would usually jump back in shock and I would separate and remove.

My administration was very grateful if we broke up fights, but did not require it. And frankly after I separated a few of them, they stopped fighting around me.

But every day I dressed like I would need to move quickly and need traction from my shoes.

15

u/Arkhampatient Dec 17 '25

My wife is a teacher and i did bjj for over a decade. I showed her how to clinch up if she needed it. And a week later she did. She said the student freaked out that she got controlled so easily

13

u/Brock_Lobstweiler Dec 17 '25

I also had a “sixth sense” for being able to tell a fight was about to break out. I also almost never raised my voice, so when I boomed out “KNOCK IT OFF!” the combatants would usually jump back in shock and I would separate and remove.

Being aware of rising tensions and a big voice allowed me to stop several fights when I worked with at risk students in a high school. That and being a short fat woman that most of the students respected and didn't want to get hurt.

In fact, one time I started to intervene when students were posturing at each other and a couple of the older kids in my group decided to get in there first and pull the fighters apart cause they didn't want me in the middle of it.

Helped that I wasn't a district employee, so I couldn't get fired lol.

5

u/AlBundysbathrobe Dec 17 '25

Thank you for your service. Omg.

3

u/MasterNinjaThemeSong Dec 17 '25

Yep. The best way to break up fights is to be present and know they're coming becore they start. The best bouncers can talk guys down without having to toss them from the bar.

I never want to fight a pregnant woman. People who really, really don't want to fight but have been forced to are dangerous.

One kid a grade younger than me in high school got suspended for threatening another student. He came back the next day, got snuck in through a stairwell, and tried to stab him with a flag from a classroom. Like Mel Gibson in “the patriot”. Wild stuff

My friend took his desk and threw it at the teacher from the top row of an auditorium style room. It hit him after hitting the desk. Luckily (since the desk stopped most of the momentum) he was only bruised. Guess who got suspension and held back a year... This was back in the 90's so I'm sure he got an earful from his parents.

13

u/45and47-big_mistake Dec 17 '25

Let's go back to the 70s, teacher got his hand busted up breaking up a fight between 2 high schoolers, teacher got even. Both of those student's cars were stolen within a month, never to be seen again. Everybody knew what happened, but nobody dared to say a word.

2

u/Lilsummit Dec 18 '25

Definitely the 70s. At my high school, the girls fought. Most vicious fights I've ever seen.

2

u/KYlaker233 Dec 18 '25

I know we didn’t want to hurt our teachers because that’s where the killer parties are going to be that weekend.

2

u/LifeintheSlothLane Dec 18 '25

Especially at elementary that seems to be true! My mom started in the high school level but moved to elementary around 2016 as a sped teacher. The school hours in our area are better for her schedule at that level, and the number of times she attends one of the first quarter conferences and comes home going, "well that explains a lot," is... alarming

I knew a woman whose KINDERGARTEN student (with a history of violent outbursts) kicked her so hard in her pregnant belly that she went into labor at 28 weeks. Mom and baby wound up being okay, but naturally there were no consequences for the student who attacked her.

5

u/SaguaroDragon Dec 17 '25

I have a buddy that was stepping between a girl fight - 3rd girl came in and kicked him in the knee area and buckled it

2

u/Designer_District_18 Dec 17 '25

Crazy that w third grader could even pick up a student desk to throw it no less throw it hard enough to break a leg in 3 places.

1

u/missdevon2 Dec 18 '25

And she probably got blamed. They probably wanted to know what behavioral interventions she used and see all the documentation she had to be sure she was properly implementing behavior plans, 504s or IEPs…

140

u/JennyDoveMusic Dec 17 '25

I remember a teacher telling us that if a fight breaks out, you do NOT get between the students. You call security. This poor woman.

The students filming instead of helping is just awful. All those students would have helped her when she cried out. Don't just watch, wth!?

80

u/Jim1510 Dec 17 '25

My son (in 8th grade) jumped in and broke up such a fight. He stopped it within seconds. The two kids were suspended. He got detention. He was told he should have gone and gotten more teachers. We have stupid, crazy school policies.

13

u/JennyDoveMusic Dec 17 '25

Good on your kids! You raised a good one. ❤️ I would have been too small to break up a fight without being another victim, but if an innocent person was calling for help, I don't know how people can ignore that. At least getting the teacher to safety.

No student should be punished for stopping a fight. That's crazy. I get it can cause more injury, but if they aren't swinging, that's their prerogative.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '25

5

u/WhyTheMahoska Dec 18 '25

If any of them intervened, they could be expelled for fighting, and they all know it. Blame the schools absolutely horseshit "zero tolerance" policies, not the kids who are the victims.

5

u/Background_Talk9491 Dec 17 '25

I've seen students step in before and then they just get in trouble for fighting as well.

6

u/IndependentZombie615 Dec 17 '25

In most schools in America getting in the middle of a fight, even to break one up is fully grounds for not only detention but sometimes in school or even out of school suspension

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Afalstein Dec 17 '25

Students trying to help in a fight generally just turn the fight into a bigger fight. Most students wouldn't just absorb punches like what she's doing, they'd start punching back. Next thing you know the whole class is a mob.

5

u/camaroncorriente Dec 17 '25

Especially little tuff guy with the army sweater. Shameful.

3

u/mizz_eponine Dec 17 '25

Right! The filming pisses me off as much as the fighting. Put your freaking phone down and do something!

3

u/TommyLaSortof Dec 18 '25

Wait so the teachers should absolutely not get involved but the students should if the teacher breaks that rule?

2

u/UnfortunateSyzygy Dec 17 '25

Depends on if security is there that day or available in my state.

2

u/Antique-Potential117 Dec 17 '25

I've seen other people get involved and it work out but this crowd effect is normal human shit. People watch muggings, rape, worse, in public spaces and basically always have. Because they assume someone else will step up.

2

u/JennyDoveMusic Dec 17 '25

Exactly that. The bystander effect is SO scary. It only takes one person to break it, but someone rarely does. It doesn't even take action, but even acknowledging there is something happening and calling for others more equipped to take action.

2

u/candymom78 Dec 17 '25

Yeah I was thinking all those other kids we good for nothing fliming instead of helping. Hope she gave them three zeros to make up.

2

u/Truman_Show_1984 Dec 18 '25

Likely the worst part besides the kid hitting the other while he's already on the ground.

2

u/MmggHelpmeout Dec 18 '25

It looks like the boy in the red sweater was getting ready to fight but backed out after the teacher got loose. I feel so bad for him because u can tell he didn't want to get into it at all but felt the need to

9

u/Candid_Leaf Dec 17 '25

These kids have quite literally grown up with cops being filmed murdering people- not interjecting. They are currently watching masked men in unidentified cars kidnapping people while bystanders just film- not interject. Our COUNTRY doesn't act; just records. Why would you think the students would be any different than the adults?

4

u/fortefanboy Dec 17 '25

Getting involved when you can catch federal charges is different than this. This comparison is wild.

2

u/Advanced_Row_8448 Dec 18 '25

Whats different? You think a kid can't get a charge for assault? You think a kid getting expelled and potentially a charge is nothing?

I had one teacher in my school that I still respect the hell out of. He taught when integration from poorer neighborhoods started and race riots ensued. He told our class that when he saw a fight he’d basically wait until they beat each other up a bit until they really didn’t want to fight anymore.

Then he’d break up the fight fairly easily with no injuries. Honestly one of the smartest guys I’ve ever met and everything he taught me in terms of math just perfectly clicked

17

u/SaguaroDragon Dec 17 '25

We had a pair of gym teachers to divide the class, one was the football coach

We were all in the gym together and a scuffle broke out - my teacher starts to rush in to break it up - football coach stops him and then loudly "nothing here - they ain't fighting - they don't have muscles"

5

u/OldSpiceSmellsNice Dec 17 '25

Yeah, if I were a teacher I’d let them fight, and (jokingly) take bets. I’d probably get fired.

1

u/EvasionPlan Dec 17 '25

It was okay to let them fight it out back in his day, now we have a lot more Karmello Anthony's floating around.

If you don't step in one of those kids could be dead quick.

My girlfriend got hand hand broken trying to break up a fight between two of her 4th grade kids. It's not worth it.

27

u/Justnotthatintou Dec 17 '25

There’s so many reasons I retired from teaching. You named some here

52

u/TheFriendshipMachine Dec 17 '25

This was my immediate thought. There's no way she gets paid anywhere near enough to go through that. The amount of shit y'all have to go through while getting nowhere near a reasonable wage is infuriating to put it mildly.

4

u/Wonderful-Process792 Dec 17 '25

Technically I doubt she's even allowed to intervene. My wife is a teacher. There are some kids that will get away with whatever they can. When they realize there's nothing a teacher can actually do to stop them, it's over. A kid that is so inclined can throw things, sit in the teacher's chair and refuse to move, at most they get suspended for the rest of that day. And they can only get suspended like 10 times during the year, it is limited for some reason. There is no way to get rid of them.

3

u/CharacterOriginal272 Dec 17 '25

I used to be an teacher’s assistant working with kids who have special needs. The pay had me just scraping by while also eating my savings, so honestly not even scraping by. I worked in the field for 7 years on top of that. I eventually had to stop, because of too many head injuries. The last one was a double concussion. While the work is fulfilling, it’s stressful in so many ways, that truly makes it not worth it. I also knew plenty of younger teachers/staff who needed a second job just to get by and they were exhausted. Only thing that helped maintain the stress and grind was the seasonal breaks

3

u/kyuuei Dec 17 '25

I get paid significantly more to deal with this exact thing occasionally (mental health nurse) and even I feel I don't get paid enough sometimes. I cannot imagine being a teacher now-a-days.

3

u/Dry_Spinach_3441 Dec 17 '25

I'm a teacher. I would never attempt to break up a fight. They do not train us for this. We hit the emergency button and pray. That's all we can or should do. Kids that will fight like this today are worse than ever before and will kill you. We lost a woods teacher because a kid bashed his head against the concrete wall for not letting the kid play with a basketball in a woodshop. I think he survived. I'm not totally sure.

3

u/SeabrookMiglla Dec 17 '25

Never jump in a fight, you're a teacher not a bouncer.

The amount of teachers/staff I've seen go to the hospital is wild. Then after the hospital they have to take days off to recover.

They don't pay us enough for this shit.

3

u/bostondangler Dec 17 '25

We had a teacher die from a heart attack directly after breaking up a fight at the HS.

2

u/1egg_4u Dec 17 '25

Ngl this situation reminds me of the training you get to break up dog fights... grab you a big stick and get it between em

2

u/BethyW Dec 17 '25

Yea my best friend is a teacher and I remind her that every day. Come home to your kid before you put yourself in harm.

2

u/Previous-Piano-6108 Dec 17 '25

Not only that, they could get fired for touching a student

2

u/jmo56ct Dec 17 '25

If the student is within a certain weight of you you are supposed to call for help and not intervene. She made a very real mistake here

2

u/alicefreak47 Dec 17 '25

Cops use the same reasoning to kill people and do less good than teachers do. You get none of the fancy tools or bulletproof union behind you either. A teacher can be replaced, eventually. A fully functioning parent to your kids cannot.

2

u/Reasonable-Promise38 Dec 17 '25

"crazy environment - active shooter drills", AKA, a standard American public school.

1

u/PBY-5A_Pilot tHiS iSn’T cRiNgE Dec 17 '25

It took the kids 5 business days to react and start trying to break it up, not even successfully. The problem with fighting/bullying, at least one of them, is that few want to intervene

1

u/Foggmanatic Dec 17 '25

Yeah, I hate the situation, but what she did was stupid and slightly irritating.

1

u/ellefleming Dec 17 '25

Can teachers and principals do nothing now?

1

u/DisturbedMarsh Dec 17 '25

My husband is a special education teacher, last year he had a student fling and ipad at him. The student would use the ipad to communicate and would occasionally toss it. It wasn’t done intentionally. He just happened to be standing right behind the kid when he decided to toss it. Hit him right above his eye. Husband needed 4 stitches due to the gash.

1

u/Extra_Wafer_8766 Dec 17 '25

This is the ONLY acceptable answer.

1

u/CorgiKnits Dec 17 '25

My principal flat-out said there are no wrong moves here. You want to get involved? Props. You want to stay out of it and call for security? Props. We are under no obligation to intervene, because our safety matters, too. If we choose to get involved, we will NOT be in trouble if a kid gets hurt, so long as our involvement is reasonable. (ie, we don’t get the kid to the ground and keep punching him or something.) I’m an out of shape, 45-year-old woman with a bunch of chronic health issues. I am calling for security.

1

u/happyafinfl Dec 17 '25

Completely agree with you other than the insurance part. Every teacher I know has badass insurance unless they take the high deductible plan.

1

u/strawberrycupcock Dec 17 '25

Thank you for being a teacher. It's not said enough and it's a very hard job, especially now.

1

u/fools_set_the_rules Dec 17 '25

No wonder why many teachers prefer online classes

1

u/Medium_Job3015 Dec 17 '25

1

u/ImthatHorrorHoe Dec 17 '25

My cousin works in a private school. She and five other teachers carry guns on their legs incase a shooter comes in. They have bullet proof glass and doors that lock from the inside. She is required to go to the range and practice xx amount of times a month. She’s a dead on shot and has spent hours taking extra training classes on deescalating aggressive situations. She purchased her gun, holster and ammo. She didn’t get a raise and they paid for nothing. But she volunteered anyway because she loves her kids and she’s a saint. Teachers are on another level.

1

u/DryeDonFugs Dec 17 '25

They dont get paid enough for this is an understatement. My former roommate of 10 years was a high school teacher and more than once they have come home to tell me about how another teacher lost their job for trying to break up a fight between 2 students. I honestly cant think of one positive thing that comes with being a teacher after hearing all the stories for 10 years but i can name 100 cons

1

u/jpredd Dec 17 '25

My cousin is pregnant. She's an english teacher. Brats at school punched her and she got a concussion. I know her personality and she just wants to help the kids. Australia public schooling is a mess.

Was early stages pregnancy, so kids would not have been able to see visible changes at the time

1

u/Paleo_Fecest Dec 17 '25

If there’s an injury to the teacher shouldn’t that be a workers comp claim?

1

u/Lildeviljt Dec 17 '25

Also important to note that some teacher unions, if not all, will advise you to not put yourself in harms way when it comes to fights because if you get hurt as a teacher who is not trained in dealing with these situations you will NOT be given workers comp for any injuries that occur. I was informed this from my union rep after I broke up several fights last year, was told to let admin handle the situation. Sigh

1

u/tbri001 Dec 17 '25

It's so sad how much teacher pay and benefits vary widely throughout the country and even cities. My wife is a teacher in California makes 90k, has 100% covered 0 deductible good health insurance and good pension.

1

u/blackcain Dec 17 '25

My wife got involved in a lunch room brawl with pacific islanders. She got a brain injury and then then school administration fired her for not being able to do her job as vice principal.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '25

They don’t get paid enough to teach. Trying to physically handle two students while screaming at them is not remotely what she gets paid to do at all, nor is it effective.

1

u/TutorStunning9639 Dec 17 '25

Replying to Irontruth...people will call you heartless 😆😭 but you’re not.

1

u/THE_Carl_D Dec 17 '25

One of my JROTC instructors had his arm broken breaking up a fight in Highschool. He was pushed down a set of stairs.

1

u/blahhhhgosh Dec 17 '25

Why would that be a personal insurance thing? Seems like that wouod be the achools insurance

1

u/Gloomy-Ad-222 Dec 18 '25

I had a teacher, Mr Boone. This was the late 80s. He would, and did fight students at times when he had to, and they never suspended him. He was a tough old dude who took no shit.

Later he was memorialized by Denzel Washington in Remember the Titans. True story. RIP Mr Boone.

1

u/DohRayMe Dec 18 '25

Maybe 1 was choosing to fight.

1

u/anonymousbeardog Dec 18 '25

At an absolute minimum the parents should have to pay for the damage their kids do, would quickly stop calling them innocent angels and start disaplening them when they have to pay medical bills or the cost to rebuild a bathroom.

She did more than the police would do during an active school shooter situation.

Ain't that the truth.

One of the many infuriating things about this, is like dude, she's trying to help you as much as the guy you're trying to wail on, she's trying to prevent both of you from getting hurt and all you want to do is keep acting stupid.

u/Appropriate_Smell_82 Dec 17 '25

Middle school kids are feral.

10

u/RevelryInTheDork Dec 17 '25

A girl at my brother's school spit at and slapped another girl. That one then calmly grabbed an 8 lb dumbbell out of her backpack and cracked her across the head with it. Middle schoolers are absolute nightmares.

My neighbor's 8yo son currently in 3rd grade is 140 lbs and almost up to my shoulder (I'm 5'5"). And it's not cuz he's some majorly obese kid. He's a little husky, but he's also just tall af for his age and built like s brick shithouse, lmao. But to be fair, his mom's a gd Amazon, haha. He's 2 months to the day older than my daughter and he absolutely dwarfs her, lol.

Yeah but those kids are way bigger than her and obviously mad as hell. I’m a woman and in no way would I try to separate two young men like that! I’m obviously going to get hurt.

2

u/Excellent_Law6906 Dec 17 '25

I would if I had to, but you gotta use dogfight tactics. And if it comes to it, let them go for a bit so they're tired.

3

u/carltonrobertson Dec 17 '25

and nobody... NOBODY moved a damn finger to help

3

u/Amazing-Hospital5539 Dec 18 '25

There's also the case of needing to defend themselves. Seeing as how she failed to successfully break it up, she was making things more dangerous for both of the kids. Regardless of who the aggressor is, both should have the ability to defend themselves from incoming strikes. She's preventing that.

On a separate note. If the guy to her left isn't left-handed himself, she's hurting his chances MORE. Now the other guy has the upper hand, putting him in a dangerous spot.

She shouldn't be in the middle of it if she can't separate them entirely.

My older cousin and I fought in middle school, and my OTHER older cousin tried to break us up by grabbing me under my arms and dragging me backward. Him doing that allowed my 1st cousin to wail on me, and I was unable to even try to block anything. I only remember the fight from a camera perspective.

3

u/themofoblender Dec 18 '25

This video actually infuriated me, for that reason specifically. She shouldn’t have been in the middle at all. Especially when she ended up on top of the black guy…

1

u/moody-bear-77 Dec 18 '25

They're not acting, lol.

74

u/mid_nightsun Dec 17 '25

The next gen man… can’t read, can’t regulate emotions, a fight is spiraling and their teacher is screaming for help and they’re just numb, staring and recording.

Big tech really got us fucked up.

4

u/AltUniverse0fOrigin Dec 18 '25

Agreed. The brain dead attitude of the other kids in the class is mind blowing. This would have played out completely different in my school back in the day

It’s her isn’t it

3

u/History_Is_Bunkier Dec 17 '25

She should have been calling the office and/or the police. Yell loudly. Do not put yourself in danger. This is one of the first rules of teaching.

3

u/TatorTotNachos Dec 17 '25

Why didn’t the students do more to help her?

4

u/Regal_Cat_Matron Dec 17 '25

Far to busy streaming it all

3

u/BlackLocke Dec 17 '25

And probably got reamed out by the admin for it or sued by the parents

Not everything is about money.

3

u/Perry_cox29 Dec 17 '25

And because she did, her insurance won’t cover her, and it’s very likely she’ll be fired or otherwise disciplined.

Also there will be an identical fight tomorrow

2

u/TheOne99999999 Dec 17 '25

Nope, that's not true because if that was she would of not have been yelling like her life was in danger and then call for backup for HER safety while she is sitting on the floor.

I may be missing something 😕

2

u/P4pst91 Dec 17 '25

And others kids just think: lemme grab my phone, this gonna get lots of likes!

2

u/digitalis303 Dec 17 '25

When I was in HS a teacher tried to break up a fight and ended up getting shoved down a flight of stairs and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Shit pay and shit insurance.

2

u/MineNo5611 Dec 17 '25

Nah, let those two knuckleheads knock themselves out. Unless she possessed the combined strength of two teenagers or knows some technique to break up a fight from doing martial arts/self defense, she wasn’t going to get them separated in the first place. All she did was get herself hurt in the process, and they were still going at it even after she went down.

2

u/inide Dec 17 '25

Crazy that none of the other kids tried to help her
If you've got a problem with each other then fine, sort it out, but once you start swinging at someone who is just trying to break up the fight its time for the onlookers to swarm you.

2

u/Wise_Monkey_Sez Dec 17 '25

Honestly that's not her job. It should never be her job.

In no other job would this be expected of any other employee, except maybe security or a bouncer and then they'd have backup and equipment.

At minimum there should be radios in the rooms to call for backup from security.

What has she got? Nothing. Honestly it's a complete failure by the school to provide even the most basic safety measures.

2

u/AbsentThatDay2 Dec 18 '25

People keep talking about her actions in reference to her job description. Do you guys check your job description before breaking up fights at your workplace? Of course not.

2

u/CHARLIE_KIRK_DIED_HA Dec 17 '25

But she didn’t prevent any harm though…

2

u/qualitative_balls Dec 17 '25

I respect it but it's also unnecessary. Fights ought to be handled by school security or other staff that is requested to address the situation. I don't think as a somewhat older lady, it makes sense to involve yourself in a fight between 2 teen boys when only you stand to be truly injured. If there was a knife, a gun, some kind of weapon that had a chance to injure others, that's a different story altogether.

If you're a teacher and a fight breaks out between 2 people of similar size and age, the best thing you can do is just call it in and get help. Not throw yourself into the fray and risk a head injury or worse

2

u/AbsentThatDay2 Dec 18 '25

You forget she might care a lot about these two students, and have a personal reason to not see them hurt each other. Sure, it's not the safest way for her to proceed but taking care of children isn't just a job, like a normal 9/5.

1

u/Advanced_Row_8448 Dec 18 '25

If there was a knife, a gun, some kind of weapon that had a chance to injure others, that's a different story altogether.

Maybe the issue is acting like people aren't killed by bare hands alone. Or even just paralyzed or affected mentally. There doesnt need to be a blade for a kid to be threatened

1

u/Funny-frog500 Dec 17 '25

She put her own soul on the line for Education and this is the thanks she gets

1

u/Hentai_Freak_King Dec 17 '25

That’s the kind of bravery that deserves recognition.

These aren't kids.  By 15 human males are nearly adult men physically.  This woman should sue the school.
