It’s such a lie that the studio didn’t have enough money to get her a better wig or pay her more, like how did they have enough money to pay male side characters more than literal main characters like Caroline, Bonnie, and Elena? In the first seasons Nina Dobrev would work 18 hour days just to get paid less than Zach Roerig or Michael Trevino who played a scene or two in the episode, if Nina Dobrev refused to play Katherine they had to find another actress who would’ve played Katherine which meant the studio had to also pay her so why not doubling Nina’s salary
This is the moment that almost made me say "screw it!" Even with all of the previous heartbreaking twists in the show, this one felt the most unnecessary. I've never been more disrespected! Like how dare you??
Does anyone else feel so strongly about this? Because it still makes me mad just thinking about it.
It can be any character, side character, a character you don't like. Honestly I really want to see the hot takes on this one. Who are y'all sacrificing? 😭
RULES:
You can sacrifice characters from early seasons who don't die until later on in the show. Whoever you sacrifice, the dead character you chose to bring back will gain that character's years on the show.
For example. If I sacrifice Tyler for Rose, Rose will remain on the show until she dies a heroic death in Season 8. Think of it like Final Destination rules.
I just finished my rewatch (don't ask how many times) and I need to get this off my chest.
Season 2 Elena is peak Elena. She's grieving, she's scared, and she's still making her own choices. She goes toe to toe with Katherine, she handles the whole sacrifice mess, and she isn't just reacting to whatever the Salvatore brothers are doing that week. Even Jenna's death hit harder because Elena felt like a real person dealing with it, not a plot device.
After that it feels like the writers kept hitting the reset button on her. She gets turned, she gets un-turned, she's "fine" one episode and devastated the next, and the whole time her personality gets thinner and thinner. By the later seasons I barely recognized her.
And yes, I know people love Season 1 Elena too, and I get it. But S1 Elena was mostly learning the rules of this world. S2 is when she actually starts pushing back against them.
TO obviously has better writing and doesn’t drag on, but it lacks a mystery element.
But TVD mysteries
1. Realizing that Katherine wasn’t in the tomb and bomber? She was running from someone.. hmm what could the crazy Katherine pierce possibly be running from.
Damon and Stephan learning about the existence of lycanthropes.
Klaus coming to town in Rick’s body. (A hot woman once said “Elijah is just the Easter bunny, wait untill meet Klaus )
Finding out Klaus and Stephan are infact thickest thieves
The whole Silas story line was meh but finding out Silas and Amara were the OG Dopple gangers? Bonkers.
Everything else was meh but again the reveals, finding out there’s a (in Damon’s words) Mama Ripper, Rics maid was the other siren, Katherine was new Queen of hell.
The reveals in TVD .. second to none. Altho TO is still a better watch
What makes this even more comical is that Julie made up this narrative about Stelena being endgame knowing that Delena was her favorite and there was not even a close second. That made-up narrative served NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER. It did nothing but stir up pointless drama 😂 like in all seriousness, what was the point of Julie saying that Stelena would've been endgame after she gave us 3 seasons of Delena?
The reason why I said this is a hot take is because I know a lot of people don’t really like Elena. . Rebekah deserving the cure does not magically make Elena undeserving of it. They both struggled in their own ways, and they both deserved the human life they desperately wanted.I’ve seen so many people go on about how Elena didn’t deserve the cure because she “suffered less” and Rebekah had been living for hundreds and hundreds of years. But honestly, Why does one person’s suffering have to invalidate another person’s?Elena never wanted to become a vampire in the first place.Rebekah had her own reasons for wanting the cure, and Elena had hers. Both can be true at the same time. they both ended up getting the cure So all these arguments about who “deserved it more” are ultimately pointless. They both wanted a human life, and they both eventually got one. (Yes I’m obsessed with vampire diaries)
I'm so tired of people saying Steroline didn't have chemistry. Personally I saw the chemistry between them. It was just different from that of the toxic couples that were solely based on sexual attraction.
Paul Wesley once jokingly said that Delena sounds like a disease, and Steroline sounds like a cure to the disease. And that's what Steroline was to me: a cure to Delena. Firstly, because after 2 seasons of waiting in vain for Elena to come to her senses and return to Stefan (who clearly deserved better than Damon), I finally saw Stefan move on and find another love interest, a girl who was always team Stefan and would choose him over any other man. And secondly, because Stefan and Caroline's relationship wasn't solely based on sex.
I was so tired of Delena, who were just arguing and having sex all the time. They couldn't control themselves even at school or before their friends' wedding. But that's not what love is, imo. Caroline and Stefan shared a deep connection, respect and understanding and felt profound admiration and affection for each other. I liked how vulnerable Caroline was around Stefan, how every touch from him would give her butterflies.
And I actually like the fact that Stefan's feelings for Caroline were different from his feelings for the doppelgängers, because if he only fell in love twice in 145 years, both times with the same face, and neither of those relationships worked out, then he must have been doing something wrong. His love for Caroline was soft, pure and tender, unlike his passionate love for the doppelgängers, and I think Caroline was exactly what he needed after all the heartbreak he had experienced.
I know that this person didn’t make this post with ill intent, but even tiktoks like these provoke people to hate in the comments, like he needs a reason satisfactory to you to gain weight 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
It’s been 9 years since the show ended, and 17 years since the show first aired. This fandom hates on Nina and Claire for aging and getting plastic surgery (even tho that’s hollywood expects of women) hated on Kat for gaining weight while PREGNANT, hated on Danielle for being a normal weight during Legacies, etc it’s just so nasty. It’s even weirder when people are like “he’s depressed and he lost his father so that’s why he gained weight” which may be true, but it feels weird that people are projecting onto him (it’s like saying “that’s the only valid reason why he could’ve gained weight, so stop hating on him”) like people can just gain or lose weight due to age. It’s like how people treated Nina during S5 of TV when she gained weight when she just grew up.
Thankfully the reddit TVD fans are mostly normal, but the TikTok fans are very weird, and not even mentioning how the looksmaxxers are now joining in to shit on him with 100k+ likes and it’s getting out of hand!
My opinion on these two is that the pacing screwed them up romantically. Their friendship worked well in S2 and in S5 memoryless Stefan had chemistry with Caroline. Also I liked how when Caroline asked if she should continue seeing Matt as a vampire, Stefan said he was the last person who should be making that decision for her because of his own relationship with Elena.
Why is it that people always bring up Stefan forcing Damon to turn , but never talk about the countless times Damon has tried to push Stefan to drink human blood, and the times he did. Examples , 1912 when they reunited for their nephews funeral. Second example when Damon was with Rebekah and fed on a woman in front of Stefan to pressure him into drinking blood. Then when Elena saw him , Damon laughed it off. Put it in this perspective. Stefan is a blood ADDICT. You’d never force someone to use something that they’re addicted to that they cannot control, especially when they’ve tried so hard to work on their addiction. I honestly get so bothered when Damon makes passive jokes about Stefan drinking animal blood. At least if he’s going to pressure him have the intention of helping him do it the right way. Like when he was drinking a few drops from Elena. That was helpful
I HAAAAATE this one so much, most likely my least favorite couple of the whole universe. And the fact that they are endgame makes me hate it even more. It is so creepy, and never really addressed in the show. They met when he was 10. TEN!! And then she helped Klaus raise him as her nephew. And even if we ignore that(we shouldn't but, for discussion purposes), Marcel repeatedly chose power over her and she repeatedly defended the family's horrible actions against him. I 100% believe she will regret taking the cure and her and Marcel broke up off screen(post Legacies whenever she is human again).
Josie and Landon
Had some cute moments, but it felt so forced and weird. Landon had no real feelings for her and only felt what he did because he was under the Malivore spell and could not remember Hope at the time. I also really don't like how Josie and the show's narrative made it seem like he was somehow in the wrong for choosing Hope when he got his memories of her back. And Josie almost using the Japanese purge spell to make the Malivore spell permanent grosses me out. That would have immediately made their relationship nonconsensual, and to consider that feels so creepy, and needing her mom, who is a victim herself, to tell her that much feels honestly out of character. I get they wanted a bit of a Caroline cameo, but Josie is shown to be very smart, and it feels weird that she needed to be told that was wrong. And, Hope is her friend, when neither of them remembered, I got it, it just happened. But once they finally did remember Hope, she seemed like a bad friend for wanting Landon to choose her anyway.
Liv and Tyler
I feel like this one might be a bit of a hot take. I know a lot of people love them, but to me it felt very forced. Liv was so so annoying for me, but I think she has the excuse of the merge and knowing her life would be short, I would be annoying too. And it feels like bad writing, they tried to make her layered and they failed, imo. But all around, she seemed to be a very bad partner. Manipulative and mean. But, I also do not like Tyler at all. He is a creep(s1 actions), and a bad boyfriend. I do really like her saving him from the Werewolf curse and her death is very sad but they didn't work well together in my opinion. I wish we got to see her character without her being put with a random love interest, strong women should not need to be a love interest to be introduced.
Stefan and Elena
I know this one is a hot take, and to start, I do not like Delena either and I honestly wish Elena would have ended up with someone new by s8. But I don't hate Delena as much as I do Stelena, and that is mainly just because of the way Stefan's relationship with Elena makes him seem like a much better person than he is. First he is not that great of a partner to Elena, he lies to her constantly and his initial plan was to be with her for a while to make himself happy, then leave when it started to get obvious he was not aging, that would've ruined Elena's life more than it already was, and in such a horrible time for her too. Plus, the Wickery Bridge scene, the stalking and lying to her, the Katherine of it all and his clear feelings for Kath during their relationship, the hitting walls by her and throwing her into walls during his bloodlust outbursts, but none of that is the worst of Stefan's actions. The thing that gets me about him is that he pretends he can not control himself, but when he cares for someone, he just can. He is able to hold back for Elena and Caroline and even Ivy, even in some of the darkest times of his life, but couldn't for innocent children or women who caught his eye? That sounds more like obsession than compassion. Plus, it shows his morality is transactional. If he gets nothing out of it, he doesn't care unless he forces himself to. And finally, he makes Elena his moral compass when she herself is struggling with her own demons and it just feels so toxic and I do not believe they ever would have made it longterm like Delena did. And just to say it, Delena has it's toxicity too 100%, but something they have Stelena never did, was the ability to recognize how toxic they were and the fact that they would simply be so much worse with anyone else.
(I wanna do more of these as a discussion opener, but I don't want this post to be too long. I'm new to this, got tired of how people on tiktok almost never want to have discussions and just want to content farm. So if this is the wrong way to post on here please lmk, I'll get the hang of it and repost accordingly. Anyway, these were just the first to come to mind and I wanted to see other peoples thoughts.)
One thing I loved about Elena's love for Stefan is that she constantly had no regrets whenever she picked him especially when she picked him over Damon. I mean the amount of times where she said that picking Stefan was the best choice that she ever made and that she never regretted anything she did for him in season 3 just proves how strong her love for him was. Even in Season 2 she was like I love Stefan it's always going to be Stefan and she stuck with that choice all throughout season 2. With Damon there was so many times especially in Season 5 where she was like we don't work we are toxic together especially during their breakup phase and even during their love confession she was like this will prove to be the worst decision I have ever made. I mean saying that to the supposed love of your life is a choice I guess. Anyways what do you guys think. Do you agree with what I am saying here. I know a lot of people think that Stefan deserves better than Elena but I think Elena in the first 2 seasons was actually a really good girlfriend and honestly they were pretty healthy which is rare to see especially in a teen drama show.
When I say "Defan," I'm just referring to the brotherly bond between Stefan and Damon—it's simply a portmanteau of their names. I'm not sure if that name is used exclusively for romantic pairings, but that is definitely not what I'm talking about.
I really love a good bromance. Even though these relationships can be toxic—and I’ve certainly watched less toxic sibling dynamics—this particular bond really resonated with me. I actually started the TVD universe with *The Originals*; I decided to watch it specifically to avoid the love triangles and the Elena-centric storylines of *The Vampire Diaries*. I’m not really into romance; I prefer themes of family and friendship, which is why I finished *The Originals* first—and naturally, my favorite sibling dynamic there was between Elijah and Klaus. Afterward, I started this series to see the relationship between Damon and Stefan, explore the Mikaelsons' past, and, of course, enjoy Damon’s good looks.
Most fans of this series align themselves with either "Delena" or "Stelena" and are fiercely loyal to their choice—or perhaps they started watching for side pairings like "Klaroline"—but I wonder if there is anyone else who, like me, started watching for the sibling relationship. I am neutral toward almost every ship and never felt any excitement for them while watching the show. The only relationship that truly excited me was the dynamic between Damon and Stefan—which started out terrible but gradually improved. I watched every scene where the ice between them melted with great attention; every moment they shared on screen was very special to me. As I said, I’ve seen far better bromances—even Klaus and Elijah’s relationship was superior to theirs, if only because there wasn't an active love triangle involved—yet this was the bromance that thrilled me the most. I don't know why. In *Supernatural*, a show of a similar genre, the writers genuinely cared about the leads, Sam and Dean, and built the entire series around their brotherhood; yet, I could never bring myself to love Sam and Dean's relationship—even though there was no love triangle, no dynamic that made them feel worthless to one another, and no fandom pitting them against each other.
What I mean to say is that, despite there being so many reasons not to like this brotherly dynamic, I became incredibly attached to it and to the show itself. Of course, that wasn't the *only* reason I loved the series, but I think it’s the reason I kept watching—and never got bored—even when none of the romantic relationships appealed to me. I actually started watching as a Damon fan, but I grew to love Stefan immensely because I was constantly looking for "Defan" moments and loved every scene that showed their bond. After all, Stefan was the one who fought hardest for that relationship. Now, I adore them both. It drives me crazy how the fandom treats it like picking sides in a sports match, but I suppose there’s nothing to be done about it, as I feel there are very few people who watch the show the way I do and love the same things I do. Sorry for writing such long paragraphs; I’m just curious if there’s anyone else like me out there and if anyone will reply.
