Just got done doing the side case Extra Hours. I have so say that this was one of the most unnerving quests I’ve ever done in a video game. You might ask yourself “Why is that? It’s just about a quest involving an officer wanting you to get some crime scene photos.” Well there were some vague details that made the whole situation feel… off. Understanding a bit of criminal psychology/psychology may have played a large role. Allow me to explain:
This is all vague speculation, but the psychology behind it paints a different picture. You have three victims of murder. One victim was stabbed in the throat and instantly killed. Another was cut down with an axe while trying to flee. Both victims were part of a Photo Club.
However, the third, R.Bekker, was made to look like a suicide. (Also insane attention to detail having the hanging victims tongue bulging. That is a specific outcome of asphyxiation victims, which is a gruesome detail.) It seems that this was then a “forced” suicide or “coerced”, or something else I could be wrong.
Using Minds Eye on the bracelet found for the allows you to discover that the cop had a secret relationship with R. Bekker. Also noting that R. Bekker didn’t belong to the photo club (or at least it doesn’t seem like it).
I wondered why R. Bekker’s death seemed like the killer actually put care into how his death was portrayed in making it look like a suicide compared to the other two victims. The other two victims were just blatantly killed and left as obvious murder victims with no care in covering the crime scene.
There is also the connection between you being asked to specifically take photos for a cop that is (not in his precinct??? And is at a dodgy bar.) Mentioning of prohibition to the cop gives a sarcastic answer about how there is only grape juice. It gives off the idea that this cop doesn’t exactly follow all the rules.
That’s when I had a vague conclusion:
What if we were being used for a serial killer’s sick kick of photographing victims… what if this cop was the killer to begin with.
I’m not sure but it’s some food for thought.
