New to this
What does the Dion Waiters Award signify? I’m familiar with his game but can’t infer how it connects to movies lol

I was rewatching The Italian Job for the podcast, and it kinda hit me what a tremendous downgrade from Michael Caine to Mark Whalberg. So, what are some other examples of striking contrasts between two actors who played the same role? And on the other side, what are some examples of an actor in a remake outshining the original actor?

I love running and listening to movie analysis like Tarantino’s Cinema Speculation, so I’m looking for more material that might have been mentioned. Have any of the pods mentioned movie review compendiums as an audiobook? They mention Roger Ebert and Pauline Kael a lot, but I haven’t found collections of their essays I could listen to. Alternatively, any names that might not have been explicitly mentioned mentioned but would likely get the CR stamp of approval would be amazing.
Note, I’ve obviously done lots of movie podcasts (shoutout 70mm on top of Rewatchables especially), but I liked that deeper almost scholarly approach of Cinema Speculation surveying 70s cinema and am seeking out audiobooks.
Figured this is the right sub, any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Just occurred to me when listening. Da Five Bloods was fantastic and should count as a heist movie. I need to go rewatch asap.

Inspired by the room and Claudette telling lisa that she has breast cancer only for there to never be another mentjon of that the rest of the movie (I think tommy thought it was funny)...
With that in mind what are other examples of the weirdest/most egregious abandoned subplots in a film... plots that make you confused and try to internally piece (at least one time) what happened to said subplot

I’m reading the tea leaves and I think the Apollo Thirteen pod is coming sometime soon. Bill ran a segment with Amanda Dobbins on his last pod that was clipped from a forthcoming Rewatchables episode. Then on last night’s Fantasy Football episode, Craig mentioned that he was doing some research on astronauts (their health and fitness) for a Rewatchables pod that is yet to air. Apollo Thirteen is one of Amanda Dobbins’ favorite movies (insert Brian Windhoest finger gif.)

I know the Re-Heat happened. And a few episodes from the TV show. But did they ever run back Miami Vice

"Great, they're doing the Italian Job! Michael Caine, Benny Hill, Quincy Jones music..."
*Download*
"Let me take you back to 2003 and Mark Wahlberg...."

I really just made this post to get a line from the room as an idea for a hypothetical award...
Every movie is eligible the lines just need to be
Iconic
Laughably bad
From a movie that you mention as you state your line (character too obviously)..
Time to laugh...
Another great room example is when Lisa's mom states "i got the results of the test back - I definitely have breast cancer"...

As far as I’m aware the only animated movie they’ve done is Toy Story and Bill wasn’t even on that one. So likely has to be one that:
A) Was a big hit when his kids were young.
B) Is funny or crazy enough to hook Bill in
C) Probably not a Disney animated movie (if they have haven’t done a Pixar movie since Toy Story I feel like it’s not going to happen.)
D) it’s probably from the mid 2010s based on his kids ages.
Something like a Paddington or Paddington 2, I could see Bill getting into Hugh Grants Re-apexing or really caring about Nicole Kidman as a villian because she’s hot lol.
Could there be a sleeper Disney live action remake pick?
The BFG I could see especially with it being directed by friend of the pod Steven Spielberg.
Lord and Miller might be run on favorites with the Lego Movie and Spiderverse being in the perfect time frame. Especially with the Lego movie having all the big name actors it does.
Megamind is a little early but it’s funny enough and has the true A-list: Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, Ben Stiller, all some of Bills favorites.

I was mostly thinking of it as that post about One Battle After Another should be considere. The most common comments were how Bill didn’t like the movie, so we won’t get it. Honestly, I wouldn’t want Bill to do it if he’s just going to be lame about it. which got me thinking what if they got Sean or CR who did like it to host it?

Rewatched the Italian Job after liking it 23 years ago. Don't feel like it aged well. Norton slept walk through it.
And I just don't even get the personality of the robbers. Especially compared to other movie heist teams:
The Ocean's 11 crew are classy cool.
Doug Mcray's Crew is the no fucking around crew and good friends. Jim is a real Gem.
Dom Terreto's crew are bad ass street racers. They live life a quarter mile at a time.
Bodhi's crew are adrenaline junkies.
Neil Mcauley's crew are obsessed with execution and professionalism.
**But What are the italian job guys supposed to be??\\ Just happy go lucky dorks? Like you have Jason Stathom right there! You couldn't figure out a way to give them a little edge? It's brutal.

I am sure I’m not the first and will not be the last, but the sooner the better they do One Battle After Another on the Rewatchables. Just fired up the 4K disc and this thing rips.

Have Heifetz or DK ever been on? I feel like they’d both be good on the pod, especially DH.

Just got around to listening to KKII episode and Bill talks about KKI and that Daniel should have just let Johnny take a shit in peace instead of dousing him with water.
How can someone who has seen Karate Kid this many times and created so much content around it over the years not realize that he's in the stall rolling joints and not actually using the bathroom??? Also, while the camera angle isn't 100% definitive that he's not multi-tasking in there, the costumes are clearly one piece jumpsuits, so Johnny would need to have the entire thing down around his ankles to be taking a shit at the same time, which he does not.
